Day one

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

Ok I just had my rant post a few moments ago so now I am going to get this back on track.

I have already had about 700 calories today and I have not even had lunch yet! My water intake is at 0 and I am debating on weather or not to go to the gym. emoticon

So as soon as I get off the computer (which will be right after this post). I am going to go fill up my water bottle, take a big long drink and fill it up again. Then I am going to walk over to the gym and hop on the treadmill for an hour's worth of interval training. After that I am going to go to the weight room and do my scheduled arms work out. After I get home I will make a salad with lite dressing for lunch. Drink more water, do my homework, pick up the kids from school, go to the park and play, drink more water and make a healthy dinner of fish and veggies.

emoticon I will do this! I will become a better example to my daughter. I will be comfortable with my body when I am with my boyfriend! I will be that smoking hot mom! emoticon

I just don't get it

Warning!! Rant to Follow! emoticon

I have been on a new routine since the beginning of September and I have been bouncing between the exact same numbers that I was before I started working out for an hour 6 times a week and tracking my calories. I am completely discouraged on continuing. I am not going to stop but really in the two weeks since I started not even one pound gone. What do I do? I don't have anymore time in the day to go to the gym. I have only been off my eating plan twice. My water intake isn't what it should be but it is still more than I normally drink. I have cut out full sugar soda and I am working on the Coke Zero as well. I don't know what else to do.

This morning I weighed myself at 184 pounds that is three pounds up from last week!!!

I hear you and I totally understand. This part is hard. You feel like you're doing everything "right" and still not getting anywhere. While calories in vs calories out is true, your body is not a calculator. It's a very complex machine that is constantly changing, evolving, and transforming. Whenever you start a new exercise routine, your body naturally clings on to water for your muscles, especially if you're doing weight training. I hired a personal trainer, faithfully did my cardio and weight training, and I never lost a pound for the 4 months I worked with her. My weight stayed exactly the same since muscle is denser than fat but I was much more toned and I had lost 6 inches off my waist. It's totally natural. Some people take up to 6 weeks before they see the first pound gone. I know that sounds incredibly discouraging but I promise it will get better.

I recommend measuring different parts of your body. Your weight is only one measure of your existence and an unreliable one at that. As long as you continue with good healthy habits you will definitely reap the reward. Most of the changes won't be visible such as an increase in endurance, better sleep, increase in energy, and a better mood. I've been where you are and I know it's disheartening. It's a struggle but it's a battle worth fighting. Remember: it's not about the weight as much as it's about being healthy. You can do it! I have faith in you. :)

Falling into place

Monday, September 01, 2014

Everything seems to be falling into place. My daughter just started kindergarten and has her schedule finally worked out with her dad. I have the most wonderful boyfriend and we are doing great. I am going back to school myself. Then only thing that is not going anywhere is my weight. When I first started going out with my boyfriend I weighed 170 pounds not the greatest but it was in the direction that I wanted to go. Down. In the past 6 months I have gained 13 pounds and have been trying to get it to go down for the last three weeks.

It is not going anywhere.

Well I guess it is time to hunker down and get this ball rolling.

Tomorrow is not only Monday but the first day of September. Seems like a great day too start. And on Wednesday I have access to a gym. There will be no excuse for me this time.

My goals for the month of September:
1. Go to the gym at noon everyday Mon thru Fri
2. Drink water
3. Cook healthy vegetarian meals for the family
4. No stepping on the scale for the entire month

June is going to be one exciting month

Thursday, March 28, 2013

I really can not wait unitl June. I will of course be able to use my new outdoor furniture (we haven't had a backyard in a LONG TIME) and June 16th is the COLOR RUN in Denver. And on top of that....My town will be hosting its very own Spring into Green Color Dash 5k, 10k and family walk on June 8th. I just signed us up and we will be having such a good time.

This is so going to be me in June. I really can't wait two more months until June.

Oh and the community is also putting on a Step Up program starting April 19th and ending in a 5 mile race on June 29th . They did it last year but I did not get a chance to sign up.
It challenges you to walk 10,000 steps a day and has several workshops that promote healty lifestyles. Just about every weekend in June is booked with a race. Now I really need to get out there and start my 5k training.

I think I just found the spark that I need to start moving again.

70 days until June 8th. Need to get my jog on.

Sounds like you are going to be very busy. I have been wanting to sign up for a color run. I wish my town was doing things to get healthy and active like yours. Keep up the good work.

It's a fun run. The Color Run has a different color every 1km of a 5k. They through colored powder on you. I have been wanting to do one since I heard about it last year. It looks like a lot of fun. emoticon

Great plans. Concerning the ditching the soda and replacing with water, I have found that adding some flavored things to my water helps a lot: a slice of lemon, orange, cucumber or a sprig of mint, no sweeteners though.
One thing I have found helpful as far as weight loss goals is to make the primary focus things I can control (like exercising so much every week, eating a certain way) rather than the results which I can't perfectly control (like exact number of pounds lost) because this way I can reward myself for having done my very best, regardless of the results. If I stay motivated and have a positive outlook then I will eventually reach my permanent goals, and, more important, maintain them. emoticon emoticon
