Ate at home again

Home made food has less salt

Well, I made some meals at home this weekend, and calculated the calories, etc as individual recipe items. I compared the numbers against other listings in the system, and discovered that the commercial foods seem to have a LOT more salt in them than my home made foods do. Interesting. Of course, I use a lot of herbs and spices other than salt. Mostly!

Best way that I know to reduce sodium intake is to have the control over what is going into one's food.

And the best control is to prepare and cook one's own food

Simple fact.

    Most commercial foods have a lot of sodium because it's a preservative, and thus is very useful to keep foods edible for a while. But man, what a world of difference making your own food can be!

Pears

Ok. So I usually eat fruit raw. That is, when I eat fruit. Tomatos - that is one thing I know how to use in many,many ways. But pears? And I LOVE pears.

So, I decided to look up recipies for pears. THEY ALL HAVE FAT IN THEM!!

So, back to raw.

I MUST find a way to eat pears in another way!

I had a very productive and busy week. Lots of court hearings,and lots of teaching. Barely any time to breathe, but with only one exception, I chose the right things to eat.

I had so much work today that I only took a short break for lunch. But had a nice salad. Then, off to Curves, filled the van with gas, and had some chicken and cashews. Still within calories!!
