Bike ride, day 2.......

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

I'm getting ready to put the bike on my car. Yesterday was a biking disaster but to day we have clear skies. We will bike across the bridge over the river and on to a large county park. If we are lucky the rowers will be out on the lake and we can watch them. There's always a cool breeze coming across the lake and the park is very wooded so it's a beautiful ride. My friends don't bike much (they are more into hiking) so I'm eager to see if they will make it up the hills. I usually take granola bars but I'll be packing carrots and cauliflower today, because of the veggie challenge. Can't wait.

Have a healthy day!

Best laid plans................

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

My day started out great. I was going to go on a bike ride with some teacher friends. I packed the stuff I would need, pulled the bike down from the lift in the garage, and put it on the bike rack in anticipation. My son got out of bed without complaining and was ready for school in record time. We got halfway to school and it happened. The sky opened up. We had a huge thunderstorm and the ride was cancelled. I decided not to waste the trip so I went to the grocery store. By the time I was finished picking up a few things, hanging up my bike, and putting everything away, the sun was shinning again. Although I really wanted to sit and watch the doctor show on TV, I decided to go out for a walk. What a great choice!

PS. Now it is raining again!

How has your day been going?

Oh what a feeling.............

Monday, June 14, 2010

I biked up to the grocery store this morning to pick up a few staples (carrots, broccoli, sadad dressing). You have to pass through a junk food isle to get to the produce, so I did. Here's the good part, I DIDN'T STOP TO LOOK AT A SINGLE THING. In fact, as I passed by I was thinking that nothing looked appealing in the least bit. A month ago I would have picked up some cheese popcorn (which I dearly love) without a thought. I try to buy only what is on my list, but I did pick up one splurge. The red cherries looked so good that I threw some in my basket. I love cherries when they are in season.

What is your favorite healthy "splurge"?

Have a great day! emoticon

I got nutin......................

Sunday, June 13, 2010

For the first time, I could not think of anything to blog about. Things have been going great but nothing stimulating had happened to give me an idea. Then it happened! A new friend sent me a goodie and it really cheered me up. It's amazing how something so small can make a difference. Thankyou new friend!

Well, sometimes NUTIN is better than SUMTHIN if the SUMTHIN is something awful! I am glad there is no drama in your life right now!!!

Don't you love getting up at the crack of dawn?

Saturday, June 12, 2010

I love getting up at the crack of dawn, before anyone else in my household. It is so quiet and peaceful. I can hear the birds chirping. I can tidy up the house and nobody is up to mess it up. It gives me time to exercise without hearing, "Mom, you are obsessed." Nobody is "Momming" me and I don't have to mess up my clean kitchen preparing food for family members who are old enough to take care of their own needs. I can sneak out to go shopping or walking and nobody even knows that I am gone. I enjoy sparking in the morning. Who needs sleep anyway; it's overrated.

Are you an early bird? What do you do before anyone else gets up?

To change the time, you have to save. If you get into that page and then out, it reverts to eastern time.

NIght owl- Spark always show the next day by time I get on for the day. I've tried several times to change the time zone, but always reverts to an earlier zone.

I am more and more of a night owl the older I get. I usually wait until the coffee is ready before I get up.

I am an early bird -- I get up at 5:00 am whether I set the alarm or not! I love lollygagging in bed -- drinking my coffee and reading a cheesy novel! Then I'll get up at 6:00 or 6:30 for real!

Though I am not an early bird liking person, I do enjoy getting up early for some peace and quiet. I do that in the evening, too. I like that hour or so of no one being in my hula hoop. Sigh...I love it... :)

Yes. I am an early bird too! I was just thinking today as the dogs woke me up to fed them at the crack of dawn how I actually love that quiet as well. For me, the crack of dawn also means that I get to see the sun rise over Mt. Hood. Often that scene is gone by 6:00am because the clouds have rolled in. So, I get an extra bonus for getting out of bed emoticon

P.S. I love your term "MOMMING ME"

I am in total agreement with you. I get up 1 to 2 hours earlier than anyone else in the house. I spend a lot of it reading my email, doing spark, or just enjoying the quiet. Luckily, I have trained most of my children to get their own breakfast, but I have a granddaughter who thinks the world revolves around her and "Nana" needs to jump when she wants something.
