What do you do on a gloomy day................................

Thursday, September 09, 2010

We have had more than our share of sunshine lately so I can't complain. Actually, there are a ton of things that I can do today that don't involve working out in the rain. I can:

Spark,
Clean the kitchen and do the dishes,
Do laundry,
Go throught the storage shelves in my basement and pitch things I haven't
used for years,
Go out to lunch with a friend,
Vacuum,
Put touch up paint on the holes that I fixed in the walls,
Play with my son's bunny,
Walk in the basement with Leslie Sansone and crew,
Shred,
Walk on the trainer in the basement,
Clean the garage,
Read,
Clean off the dining room table (that should take hours), and
Alter pants that are too big.

Whew! Am I worn out before even starting! I guess I better start before the day is gone.

Mo Botanical Garden....

Wednesday, September 08, 2010

We have a lovely garden in town, the Missouri Botanial Garden (nicknamed Shaw's garden for its founder) and I met my son there today. We walked briskly around the garden for about an hour and a half, enjoying the sites along the way. My favorite gardens (it has many different gardens ) are the Japaneese Garden, the Chinese Garden, the English Garden, and the Rose Garden. We visited many parts of the garden that we took the kids to when they were young and joked about some things that had happened when they were young. One of my favorite stories surrounds the time that he was walking on a ledge and fell into a fountain (he was about 7). He was not thrilled with us but we could not stop laughing. After walking around the garden we stopped for a sensible lunch at the cafe. What a nice way to spend some time on a lovely day!

Smart triple duty timing - flowers, time with your son, and exercise. Way to go!

I love gardens also, I think the most beautiful gardens I've seen were in London, England and the countryside villages. The streets of London all have some form of topiary even off the buildings.
Glad to hear you had a good day. KEEP SMILING! emoticon

Last chance workout..

Tuesday, September 07, 2010

Tomorrow is weigh in so I only have one more day. (With a little luck I will reach my goal.) The holiday weekend was kind to me as far as fitness but I exceeded my calories by a long shot. My plan for today is to shred (already did), walk or bike (depending on the weather), and eat within my range. That shouldn't be hard as everyone is back at school/work and I have stashed the weekend leftovers in the freezer. I have lots of errands to run today, including putting in an application to sub in my former school district. This afternoon my son has a swim meet and I plan to walk around the track during down times.

Good luck with your next weigh in!

Too much barbecue............

Monday, September 06, 2010

Can you ever get too much barbecue? I think not. We are a real barbecue family. My husband is the expert and I help with the grunt work. Yesterday it was ribs and today it is chicken. If we want to see out kids, we call them with the promise of barbecue and they come running. Today we are having macaroni (for the younger set), a huge salad, corn on the cob (cooked over the grill of course), baked beans (family recipe), a strawberry/pineapple salad, veggies with hummus and crab dips, and grean beans. We often skip dessert; who need it! Lots of calories without it.

Are you barbecuing today? What are your favorite cookout foods? I hope that you have a fun day!

Tri tip again - and ribs. The tri tip was much better - ribs with the apricot bbq sauce from Costco were too sweet.

I hope you have a great day! It sounds very fun and filling!

My husband is on call 24 hours today, starting at 8 a.m., so he's gone.

My son and I and a friend went shopping for shoes for him. We got those, then I ended up getting $100 leather purse for less than $20 at a sidewalk sale in the same outlet mall and a new dressy down vest for winter and another Leslie dvd. You could definitely same I'm hooked on those walking dvds. I love them!

Can you stay inside today?

Sunday, September 05, 2010

I can't. It's in the low 70's and there is not a cloud in the sky. Our bikes are packed and we are heading out for a ride on the Katy Trail. I've got lots of water and sunscereen. Next stop, a beer garden 15 miles down the trail. It overlooks the trail and miles of farmland. It's a great place to relax and refuel before heading back to town.

Hope the weather is great for you!

We went to church, then I came home and did a new Leslie Sansone Bootcamp workout! It's great! Came with figure 8 bands for strength training. REally liked it!

Nope, I took one of my dogs for a lovely walk today. I had to get out of the house with it being so beautiful or I feel like it is wasted. Being out in this weather sure beats being at the gym. Since I can't go to the gym until I am better the walk went well.
I am probably going to go outside and read for a bit.

Hope you enjoy your bike riding and your day!!!

I'm working for 10 hours today, but I'm going to try and get out as early as possible...then I'm headed to the lake for the last hurrah of the summer!

Hurrican Earl came here yesterday, so it's not nearly as hot and humid as before the storm, but it's still gorgeously sunny!
