July goals update:

Tuesday, July 03, 2012

1. I have been tracking my food but have cheated a little.

2. I walked yesterday and went on a bikeride this morning at 7:30.

3. I started painting the new doors.....I'm about halfway done.

4. I walked with my walking buddy one day and with my biking buddy the next.

So far so good......I'll have to really hit the tracking hard after the 4th.

Have a great 4th of July.

July goals............

Sunday, July 01, 2012

I'm done whining about getting back on track so today I'm starting today. I need to drop 5 lbs by August. So, here are my July goals:

1. Track my food to concentrate on calories and nutrition. I need to resume my healthier eating habits.

2. Continue to track my exercise (at least 30 minutes a day)

3. Get the house ready for Mom's 90th party (my 2 sibs and their families from CA will be taking their turns staying with us). My first project will be painting the four replacement doors.

4. Have a great month by planning activities with my summer friends.

Have a great July. Have you set any special goals?

Is it hot enough for you?

Friday, June 29, 2012

It certainly is hot enough for me. Our high was a record-breaking 106 today. We knew it was coming (the forcast actually called for 109 degrees) so I made a plan. I rode my bike from 7 to 8:30 and then turned two sprinklers on. We aren't even bothering with the grass any more; I'm just trying to keep the flowers and bushes alive. Hubby is fishing with the guys. Thank goodness they are waist-high in a trout stream; that should cool them down.

I plan to ride again tomorrow; in fact probably for the next five or so days. I figure if I get out the door by 7ish I should be fine.

I'm sure many of you are dealing with soaring temperatures. What are you doing to stay cool?

It certainly is hot enough for me. I've been staying inside, though I might get up tomorrow and go for a run by 7. Like you, I'll have to be out the door by then if I don't want to overheat!!

It's so hot, we're not even going to our lake to fish. I'm staying in the A/C. Take care, stay hydrated and exercise early.

I am watering early. Some days I went swimming with the kids. I had them keep their shirts on though. And the water felt great! I was expecting hot but our geothermal dumps into the pond so it felt really good!

Walking inside and line dancing for me. Watering the plants has been enough to do me in. I'm just not use to the humidity of the midwest. emoticon

Raking leaves in June!

Thursday, June 28, 2012

I've spent the last hour raking leaves. In June! Are you kidding?

It's so dry here that the leaves are starting to fall from our three river birches. I love the trees but they are brittle and often drop small branches. Usually I go out once a week and pick the branches up and pitch them. Due to a lack of rain, the leaves are slowly falling this year also. To top it off, we are expecting record breaking temps today. 106 in June......again, are you kidding? Does anyone have a lead on a good rain dance?

Have a great day......hopefully you will not have to be out in the heat, raking leaves!

We have been trying to pipeline water to all you that need it as we have had much more than needed to get us out of the drought we were in since last Aug. It didn't snow here last winter and finally got rain in May. Now we are ahead WOOHOO!

Between the drought and the bugs my mothers lawn is one big patch of brown stuff. My rain dance hasn't been working but I will keep trying. emoticon

Wish I knew a rain dance. LOL 106 is just the real temp. The heat index is more like 111 degrees. I took a little trip down south this morning to visit my sister in this heat. The corn fields look pretty bad. Now I'm drained of energy. Have a good day my dear friend.

We have had so little rainfall the fruit trees barely gave. I did yard work yesterday in the early morning and the sun was brutal. Got started at 7:00 am & I quite by 9 because it was so hot. Did you get your air fixed yet? I don't have air conditioning so I am drinking more water these days emoticon

If you get the steps to good raid dance, pass it on to me! I'll do it with you! Wow, raking leaves in June! Generally unheard of in MO! I've got lots of yard work to still, cutting back all the weed vines etc. that seem to find my shrubs along my back yard fence. Not happening today though!

Have a good day and stay cool!
