Boy was I mistaken...

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

I thought that I was in good shape but I had a big surprise yesterday. I walk 3-5 times a week (sometimes at the mall and sometimes in the basement with Leslie Sansone) so I didn't even think twice before heading to the basement to walk on the elliptical machine. What a shock; my leg muscles started to feel it after 2 minutes. I only lasted 13 minutes, partly because I had to work later and didn't want to be sore. So, I'm headed to the basement again today. I figured I'd walk for about 15 minutes and see how it goes. We're taking a trip in March so I want to be back in shape by then.

There is something really different about the muscles involved on the elliptical as opposed to walking, even running. I find myself sore in good ways when I vary my workouts from one to the other...and yes, still surprised over the difference in the effect of these activities on my body!

Even though its like walking, you use different muscles. Agree that easing up will help you be successful.

Same thing happened to me with the eliptical, but I stuck with it and am now doing loads better with it! Keep up with the great work and you'll be there in no time!!

OK, is this a new elliptical?

The ones at the gym are a LOT easier to use -- maybe electric? At LEAST better quality. I bought a Nordic-Trak elliptical off Craigslist and couldn't believe how much harder it was than the ones at the gym. I can go 45 minutes or more at the fitness center, no more than 8-10 minutes on the home model.

Finally sold it again on Craigslist...bwahahahahaha

I had the same experience when I started some toning videos. I had been doing strength training machines at the gym ~ not the same! It was a good sore though!

Good job on the elliptical. I need to add that to my workouts at the gym.

I'm a Leslie fan myself and learned the same lesson this week. My walks are usually indoors, but I'm visiting relatives so taking walks outside on trails....7,000 ft. above sea level....so it's much more of a challenge to me.

Waiting and more waiting....

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Our bathroom floor was ripped up on Thursday, the heater was laid yesterday, and the tile guys were supposed to start with the tile today. Meanwhile we have had to share the teen's and the twenties's bathrooms and our clothes (which reside in the bathroom closet) are hanging anywhere we can find some space. The worse part is that there are too many food temptations around here. I'm staying within my calorie range, but it's been hard. I guess I'll have to go to the basement and walk on the elliptical (spelling ?) machine to get my mind off of food. Here I go-

Three pounds since Christmas....are you kidding?

Monday, January 09, 2012

I've gained three pounds since Christmas....are you kidding. I stopped tracking my food about 6 weeks ago and was doing well until AFTER Christmas. All of the leftovers and chocolatey Christmas gifts were too much of a temptation for me. Now I have to get serious and drop the weight. I will begin to track again and continue to exercise. When hubby has a sweet snack attack I'll have to lock myself in the bedroom. I'll need to take a healthy lunch to work and avoid fast food all together. I can do it......I just need to renew my resolve.

No more emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
