One Day Challenge

Today will be the hardest challenge that I've had in a long time.

We are going on vacation soon and am back to one pound from my goal weight. My challenge is that I have two meal "dates" today. The first one will happen at lunch. A friend of mine visiting (from out-of-town) and we're going to lunch with friends. The second challenge will happen at dinner. It's hubby's birthday and my mom is taking us out to dinner.

I've resolved to have a salad for lunch, double veggies with my meal, NO frivolous side dishes, and no desserts. It might sound boring but, as I am highly motivated, I CAN DO IT!

..................to go on vacation! I've been cleaning the house, grocery shopping for the teen, doing piles of laundry, filing paperwork, gardening, getting lots of exercise, and working to drop a few pounds in anticipation of our upcoming vacation. Can't wait to go!

Temper, temper!

My temper got me into trouble yesterday. After a hard day of work (shopping, gardening, cleaning, and working on Ancestry.com) I fixed dinner. (I always start on it at 5ish because I never know when my hubby will be home.........usually it is between 5 and 6:30.) After that was taken care of, I headed to the basement to do some cleaning. While I was cleaning, my hubby snuck in and ate a half a loaf of bread with cheese on it. You might wonder what is wrong with that. Well, two things. First of all, he is a bread junkie so I try to limit the amounts of bread that we have lying around. Secondly, I made the time to prepare dinner and after the bread and cheese my hubby was no longer hungry. To make a long story short, I did the mature thing and gave Hubby the silent treatment, that is, until I lost my temper and screamed that he could fix his own dinner in the future. (Which he will do for a few days so I can remind him who's boss......another mature decision.)

What did I learn from all of this (that's what it's all about, right)? My most important take-a-way is that I can't force my hubby be a healthy eater. If he wants to blow his calories on less healthy foods, that's his problem. So, I've decided to continue cooking healthy food (after a few days, of course). If he wants to get out a loaf of bread or other not-so-healthy stuff, so be it. I can only control ME!

By the way, we both forgot about our "fight" after a short time.........that's the way we roll.

    As the saying goes, you can bring a horse to water but you can't make him drink..... Glad the "fight" was over quickly. That's how me and DH roll too.....blow up, get it out and move on. emoticon

    emoticon Sounds like a conversation I've had with my husband since we began dating each other 5 years ago. In the end, I try to encourage PORTION control...not restriction, just LIMIT yourself. But....YOU ARE RIGHT, you can only control yourself and if he wants to eat it, he will. It's not like you can duct tape his mouth shut......(although.....)

    When I was reading this I thought made He was hungry and ate all the dinner. I have had that happen. I personal don't think it is all control but the fact we love our family and want the best for them. emoticon

    I can totally understand where you come from. I am currently on a very strict diet so not eating any red food at the moment. I cook enough for both of us and if he chooses to eat bread with it that is his choice. emoticon

Fun on the Katy Trail

Yesterday was a beautiful day so we too a ride in the trail. Here are some of our highlights.
