For the first time ever I actually told off my buyer yesterday. I have been working with him for about a week. He was a referral from another seller/buyer of mine. This guys is going back and forth and up and down. I asked, "What monthly payment do you want to stay at?"
His response, "You asked me that the first time we met and just like a car salesman whatever I tell you, you'll have me spend more."

I exploded. I said to him point blank that my husband takes off time from his regular job for these showings during the weekdays. I spend hours on MLS looking for houses and it is a waste of my time, my husband's time and the buyer's time if we don't know how much he wants to spend. I am not going to show him $200,000 houses if he only wants to spend $800 a month. He then can not afford a $200,000 house. I also stated that at no time have I ever pushed a buyer into something that they do not want as that would be pretty stupid because I need referrals to make a living. Further, I said that I am not a car salesman..not that I haven't been offered a job as one. In the end, he did apologize. This is one strange dude with some issues, but I just will not put up with being accused of not treating people fairly. emoticon

On another note, I noticed that something wasn't working with my heart rate monitor. Every time I did exerbeat it couldn't get a reading. So, I thought it was the battery in the transmitter. Changed the battery, went to the barn and rode JC yesterday and everything worked fine. Went to do exerbeat again today. HRM is not working again. Then I had my "aha" moment. With exerbeat, you use 2 Wii Motes. I think the battery pack in the Wii Mote was interfering with the watch picking up the heart rate. I move the watch farther up my arm and all works well. Go figure emoticon

I am doing very well with my tracking which is my goal for this month. Haven't missed a meal or a day, but some I've had to punt. Took my son out for dinner last night. We had a Charcuterie..yeah try and find the calories for that and figure it out lol I figure as long as I'm trying, I'm on the right track emoticon

    Hugs, I had to tell off a customer, Told her I wasn't a mind reader and I needed to know exactly what she wanted. Sometimes these people are pain in the buttock. Keep it up you are doing a great job on every angle.

    Oh, MAN! I totally agree with you! How can you help someone buy a house if you don't show him houses in his price range? Maybe he just likes looking at houses?
I hope in the end he DID give you a price range you can use.
Good job on the tracking! That is one of my goals, too, and I have met it every day this year so far! emoticon emoticon

    That's what you have to do sometimes with tracking, just guess or leave it off for that day and have an incomplete day. You're doing great! Good for you for giving your buyer what-for.

Exerbeat for Wii--My Review

I got exerbeat a few weeks ago from Amazon. I originally purchased it for $29.99, but then a week later, I saw they had it on sale for $19.94. I called them and they credited me the difference.

At first, I was kind of iffy about it. You do a 2 minute workout and then some lady who looks like a musical note comes on and you are supposed to be walking around the world. This goes on between every exercise until....aha you open a new one. Yeehaw. That was neat. Now, I have one that goes on for 10 minutes without stopping WTG. Again..back to the lady. After about a half hours worth of exercise you get to go into personal trainer mode.

That is nice. You get to tell it how long you want to work out for and you can either set it at random exercises or set the ones you want. This is a nice feature as it doesn't stop and have you go back to walk around the world and stop at your check points. Eventually, you do open longer and longer workouts. I've gotten up to a 20 minute one with boxercising, 15 minutes with aerobics etc.. you get the picture. emoticon

It is after doing one of those long boxercising or hip hop workouts that you no longer mind the lady coming on to tell you how many miles you have etc. It is at that point where you reach for your water bottle and the towel and say, "thank goodness for a 2 minute break." I have also used that type to throw in my strength training. While she is talking, I do my strength training and just press A when I need to. emoticon

Overall, I really enjoy it. I find it addictive. I know my heart monitor says I burn a lot of calories on exerbeat. It is actually about the same amount I use riding my horse. You can do exerbeat for what will say 30 minutes on the main menu, because it doesn't count the time when she is telling you about the places you are visiting, but again, I just keep moving and exercising until she is done. I think it is a great workout as there are so many options. For the $19.95 price, you can't go wrong. You just have to stick it out until you open those other longer workouts.

    Sounds like you figured out how to make the best of the game. I don't have a Wii but maybe I will add it to my wish list. I have a feeling it's going to be a long winter. ;-)

    Exerbeat is so much fun, I have had it for 3 mths now, I find it a good workout, i was given zumba2 for Christmas and oh my goodness you are dripping after the short workout!! Totally recommend it

Need to Put Accountability Back in my Life

When I first started on SP, I loved getting all the spark points I could every day and I tracked everything. I tracked my nutrition, my fitness, read the articles, tracked other goals etc.

Now, I find the only thing I am really tracking is my Fitness. I like seeing those points add up. I'm no longer tracking my steps. My nutrition I generally only track once a day. That is going to be my goal for this month...I am going to track everything. Sometimes with Nutrition, I can't get it exact, but I can get it close.

That is the only goal I am setting for this month is tracking. I have decided to just set one goal a month. Many of my prior goals have become habits. I now eat breakfast everyday, workout at least 5 days a week, blog at least 5 days a week, check in every day.

Now, I have to be honest enough with my accountability and TRACK!

    I have been very conscientious with my tracking, it is just something I do. However, I was not being honest with tracking EVERYTHING I ate, and THAT is going to change! emoticon

    Tracking is definitely a habit that needs to be formed. It took me some time to get use to doing it, but now it has become second nature. I especially like tracking my exercise and seeing how many minutes I can do per month. Best wishes on your SP journey in 2012! emoticon

    I struggle with tracking too. But like SARALEIGHM said, just try to find something that's close. It may not be spot on exact for the calories and content that is in the food, but having something that's close written down is better than not writing it down at all.

Besides, I find I'm less apt to eat unhealthy items when I realize that I have to record them in my food journal. There's just something very satisfying about recording the healthy stuff (fruits, veggies, proteins, etc.) and a major guilt factor when I have to put in the sweets and unhealthy items.

Nonetheless, put it all in there. Eventually you'll hit your stride and figure out what's best for you.

    Tracking can become a habit too. I try to track everything every day, though I have to admit to slacking off during the holidays because I didn't feel like finding all the information about all the stuff I ate that I don't usually eat. But whenever I eat something out that I have no recipe for or an exact match by doing a search, I just find something that sounds similar and use that. It's usually close enough. Tracking will help reinforce proper portion control, which we all need. I know you can do it. I try to do it as soon as I finish a meal, but I work at home so it's not that hard. Wait a minute! You work at home too, so that might help make it a habit for you. Just do it when you finish eating. That way, you don't forget anything. I also jot down the weights/measures as I'm preparing a meal so that I've got as accurate a record as possible. This is a great goal for January! I need to do it too, since I've been so lax the past couple of weeks.

Not a Good Start

So, I haven't gotten any exercise in since Friday. I thought I was going to the barn today after showing houses, but then the snow and cold hit. We came home and watched the Packer game which we had recorded. No way to exercise during that. It was one of the best games I have seen all year. Our second string quarterback makes that is funny.

I am not going to berate myself. I just know that I have to get back to it. My goal is 20,000 exercise minutes for the year. I surpassed that in 2011 and I think I can do it in 2012.

I also have to admit that we did bring in the New Year with chocolate. We decided since we weren't going out or doing anything fancy just to do something we enjoyed. Chocolate chip cookies and ice cream worked. I did get low fat/low sugar ice cream for me :)

I have a really busy week coming up with buyers, but I know that is no excuse. I am going to have to figure out how to fit it in. I am glad the new season of Biggest Loser starts on Tuesday as that will help to motivate me. It's not that I'm not motivated. I just haven't had time.

I excuses..but I am so good at them emoticon

    Yay Biggest Loser!! Pumped for the new season. Now I just need to synch my gym time with it's air time on Tuesdays ;) It's a great incentive for doing a long stretch on the treadmill or elliptical if you have a good show to watch.

    It's only the first (or second by now) day of the year. I did an alternative to the January Jumpstart Challenge and that was all for the first day of the year, 11 minutes. I'm not going to worry about starting off with a bang, and you shouldn't either. Just end with a bang! It's really what you will have accomplished by the end of the month, quarter, year that's important.

    emoticon I've had one of these for about 6 years now and have only started using it for exercise.. I use it in front of the tv... they have exercises here on SP too...Hard under time constraints... get up earlier.. I've found that to work at times too..

A Simple Note

This blog is not to write everything I will do in the upcoming year and what my goals are or how I will change etc.

This is just to say thank you to all my spark friends who have been with me all year. You've stuck by me through everything with my family, my colitis, my non weight loss, my feelings of self doubt. You've kicked me in the a@@ when I needed it. You've also been my friend when I've needed it.

I've a long road ahead of me in 2012 and that I will write about tomorrow. But, for this the last day of 2011, I just simply want to say thank you to all of you.

I wish you nothing but health, happiness, prosperity and, for those of you who need it, some weight loss in the upcoming year!

Thank you. You are true friends!
