Looking for help.....

Monday, March 04, 2013

So today on my Spark Coach it was all about figuring out what you really want in life and then creating your goals to get there. I'm having the hardest time figuring out what I REALLY want in life.

I mean everyone has better finances, security, a healthy lifestyle, etc. But what are those really?

What do I really want? What truley motivates me?

I'm finding that not having these answers for myself is causing actual concern and stress in my life. I'm such an "A" type personality with controll of everything and now I have this item which I've never really thought about. I never thing about what I want only what I need to do.

Does anyone know any excercies that can help one figure out what they really want in their life? What truly motivates them?

I'm looking for help....

It happens as you start looking at what makes you happy and what you enjoy doing. Our lives are often so complicated we can't focus, until we start looking inside ourselves instead of only going on what's happening outside of us. Doing something positive for ourselves everyday is very important to good mental health, it's not selfish! I thought it was until I started on sparkie! It'll happen, don't worry!

Well this can be tough but is there an activity you always wanted to try like running, skiing, ballroom dancing etc?

Is there an aspect of your health you would like to improve, blood pressure, BMI, cholesterol, muscle tone?

I had a teacher once tell us to sit and write, in a quiet setting, think of our childhood, our ideas of what we wanted to be, the person we actually became and our wildest dreams if we could be something different. Just start writing words and incomplete sentences to start and the thoughts and feelings will flow.

Stressing over it will only push your thoughts away. These are just random thoughts circling my head after reading your blog.

I hope something comes to you!

When I signed up for the Health and Wellness program offered by my insurance company, my wellness coach asked me the exact same thing. I was baffled and told her her that I would think about it and circle back with her on our next call.

I broke down my motivation for the following:

Once finished creating that list, I set goals for each. There's a different mini goal for each category once a month. For example: My Physical March goal is to have 1,000 fitness minutes this month and I am motivated to reach this goal because of my recent 8lb weight loss with 500 fitness minutes. My Mental March Goal is to read 2 books and I am motivated to reach this goal because my 5 year old is learning to read and actually enjoys it. What better way to show my children than through a positive example?

Take the time to create your lists of needs and wants.....ideas for realistic mini and long term goals will suddenly pop out from various areas of your life. The key is to take it one day at a time. Best wishes to you on your journey.

I love I can listen to The Spark while going to and from work, while exercising, while eating, while working. I'm on my first full listen all the way through though.

Just finished a section on short term, medium term, and long term goals. So I figured there was no better place, but here on my blog for all to see to put my goals down in writing.

Short Term Goals: Drink 8 glasses of water a day for th30 days (this is a huge short term for me since prior to this time around I hated drinking water, I'm already actually enjoying the taste and finding it easier than ever before)
Lose 4 pounds in 30 days
Give myself a 5 minute pep talk every day for 30 days
Exercise at least 10 minutes per day for 30 days

Those are all I could really commit to myself right now and I think they are a good start. I'm having a hard time with medium term, and making a S.M.A.R.T. long term goal. There are a couple articles on the site thought that I'm going to read and then post the other two.

Not a bad start for me. I'm still sparking and keeping the above commitments to myself above.

I hope everyone else is out there finding their 'fire' as well. If you haven't yet, I promise you will. Just believe in yourself!

Note to self: Yesterday for the first time in my entire life I said "I was amazing!" I even believe it right now and that's never happened before. It's the spark that's creating this fire in me.

Stress is my enemy and I will overcome!

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

Super stressed today, between finances, the job, getting home late, the first snow storm here in Phoenix and mad traffic and people just not doing what they are supposed to, I had had it by the end of the day. 7 o'clock and I'm still not home and I called my house, the kids are hungry.,,, I went back to standard habits. I ordered pizza, fried mushrooms and headed home to deal with things there, Got home to a dirty house, one child being punished for misbehavior by spending time in the corner, then arguments over how much pizza each child had. I started eating and spiraled out of control. Now I'm so stuffed I couldn't move even if I wanted to do excercise, I'd think about a walk, but it's 43 degrees outside and I'm afraid I'd toss my cookies. So instead of getting further behind and hitting the lemon cake I'm going to finish filling in my spark, and head for a relaxing bath with a candle and some soothing music.... Time to unstress and head to bed.

I'll be right back on track tomorrow,

Don't look at my spiral and quit on yourself. I'm not! I'm just regrouping and moving on,

I refuse to continue to beat myself up for hitting a bad spot. I'm amazing and I know it!

Thank goodness for the stress busting team I joined. I'm in serious need of help there.

Wishing you all the best of sparking!!!

Tonight's the night!!!

Monday, February 18, 2013

Tonight I'm off to bed to attempt to get some good zzzz's and get started on my new schedule so I can have the kind of life I want to lead. I have a dream of what I want and I'm going to get there. So starting by setting a schedule and sticking to it.

Funny thing is when I invision myself healthy the one thing I'm really looking forward to is being able to sit in a chair with my two feet in it with me, knees bent.... Not just all the fat that is there now. Sounds crazy I know, but it's what's keeping me tracking and moving forward.

5lbs down so far, and I don't feel like I'm really trying, I'm just doing the plan. I set it up so that sparking is my daily homework just like my kids have and that's what I'm doing. It's working. I'm sharing my news with others and they are getting excited as well. This is just awesome.

I'm still having some mood swings, but it's getting better every day. I feel like I can take on anything!!!

I hope everyone else finds that something that finally clicks for them. It's taken me years but I've found it!

Keep sparking it works!!!
