My Fitbit is here

Friday, January 03, 2014

My new fitbit arrived today, and I am excited to get it started. I'm hoping that it will encourage me to be more active again and make recording my fitness easier for me. It is part of my resolution to get into better shape this year through better sleep habits, nutritious eating, dieting to lose weight, and more exercise. Wish me luck and a good dose of determination and dedication to make it work.

I got one for my Birthday on the 31st so I've just started using it. Mine is the Flex. I took a walk on the 1st. It was a late afternoon walk (I'm a morning walker) so I didn't expect much. While walking I hit 10,000..it gives a long buzz. Kind of a fit bit Woo Hoo! I really liked that. It made me walk a little farther so I would have a nice big number when it synced up. I think it's going to be helpful.

Recounting Positives

Sunday, December 29, 2013

I am thinking about some of the positives in my life tonight. I have now been at my job for one year. During that time I completed the first two classes in the TESOL certification program and have only a ten hour project left to go to complete my certification (TESOL is Teachers of English as a Second or Other Language). I was the chairman for my class reunion, and I feel good about the direction that several significant relationships in my life are taking.

A week ago, when I showed up on Sparkpeople, I knew I needed to work on loosing weight again, but I wasn't feeling very motivated. Now I am beginning to get my motivation back. I am feeling positive energy tonight.

I am starting to feel the Spark Spirit again.

Sunday, December 29, 2013

I am finding that just visiting the Spark website a few times this week--reading articles, seeing familiar names and faces, thinking about fitness--all has be feeling more motivated again. I really do want to get back on the bandwagon and be more fit and healthy. Thanks everybody for your inspiration.

I signed up for Weight Watchers today

Friday, December 20, 2013

I signed up for a three month stint on Weight Watchers today because I want to learn their tracking system, hoping that it is a bit easier than tracking calories. I still want to be part of the social network on Spark, but I hope this will help me diet more easily. i am excited about their simply filling program, and I may start moving towards that.

Trying to get back into Spark at my heaviest weight ever.

Monday, December 16, 2013

I am having all sorts of emotions right now. I am feeling embarrassed and ashamed because I am returning at my heaviest weight ever. I have been having a bit of a healthy crisis now that left me at 184. I need to get back onto spark and I feel like the first step is admitting that I gained back all the weight I lost plus about 10 points, get into the swing again and try to get started. I am worried about not having enough time because I wasn't working when I did spark before and now I am. One big factor in my drifting away was the time involved. I am not very excited about tracking food, but I know I need to do it.

I did order a Fitbit Force. I am excited about that. I am hoping that it will help get me moving again and help me get my sleep cycles stablized again which has been a major factor in my recent health crisis.

I was in the same boat a couple of months ago. I don't work but I can imagine how much harder it makes staying fit. I took my come back in steps. First I tracked my exercise. When I was ready I added tracking food. My major fear was getting on the scale and facing my current weight. Heavy sigh! Once I did, I had something that would show me if my effort was paying off. From where I sit you've taken care of some of the hardest stuff..you've come back to Spark and weighed yourself. You can do this.

It is not the amount of times we fall that counts it is the times we get up, dust ourselves off and keep moving down this journey we are on. There is not one person here who can say they started this journey and finished it without any falls. Just keep moving and you will get there. We believe in you. emoticon

You are brave for coming back! If you can do that you can lose the weight again...you did it before. Work and weightloss can find harmony. Best of luck!

You can do this! Believe that! You are about 4 lbs lighter than I was when I first joined Spark in February 2008. I weigh 140 now & have for 4 years!

Welcome back! This is the first time in my life tracking food, but I like it. I have learned so much. I work a full-time job, too. You can do it. You know what has helped me is to plan my food in advance (using the planner) and then I can add it to the tracker later. Hope that helps!
