I went for a walk with my dog Poppy this afternoon. It really was a great chance to think without the madness of an 19 month old.

From my reading on this site I knew I should set specific goals as I had only come up the general weight loss one. 50 lbs is very intimidating and well makes my heart plummet to my boots!

So to get around that I've decided to break it done into 7 steps... My ultimate goal is to have a healthy BMI, as I am currently obese. So seven steps to lose 7 lbs each ( or half a stone). My first one is to lose 7 lbs bu Valentines day

I've decided to give myself the above motto for the month... Just do it right.

Ok so I kinda robbed it from Nike but I think it will help me. So far just little things like... Heading to bed without taking off my make-up (shear exhaustion!!) and filling the gas in the car on the way home to avoid risking running out the following morning...

Dunno.. Kinda makes sense to me, so I make better decisions. Like today I made myself and even got my boss to go for a walk at lunchtime emoticon

Well... History was made today. Katie Taylor has won an olympic gold medal for Ireland.

She worked very hard to get women's boxing into the Olympics and succeeded... Now she has the first gold medal for her weight category.

Ireland is a small country and we have had our best Olympics winning 5 medals this year.... ( you could fit ireland into texas 51 times.. Really small place) But the support shown and the boost that is very much needed has been incredible

So proud of our Katie!!!

She is a sporting hero


Fitness test #1

Well today being the first of the month and me recently getting my head in the right place.... I thought

Do a fitness test and it will show where you started from. it can be another gauge of improvement that is not the scale and not subjective.

So.. Easy to do

Counted the no of pushups in one minute.... Checked online and my score of 14 was average for my age

Counted the no of sit ups in one minute .... 15... Got a below average score for my age

Starting block set.... Will do it again on the 1st sep

  That's a great way to see how far your coming along & how strong you are getting. emoticon I started taking the test on Wii Plus game-for balance etc... maybe I'll start tracking other things like this as well-as I can already see much improvement. emoticon That's for the motivation & idea! emoticon

    Having a base line to compare and enable the changes to be seen, has made a real difference. I particularly appreciate the size of clothes I wear now..
But I wish I had saved just one of my old pants. You know like they do on TV.

Change of goal

Well I have not really had my head in gear yet. I set a goal for losing 20 lbs in six months.... But I'm not getting anywhere.. I think the target is too far away and I'm not working on it enough.

So I've changed it to 10 lbs by Oct 14... Roughly 10 weeks

Hoping to kick me in the right direction.

So far I've been very good today and tracked all food. Made my lunch for work last night and it seems silly but it really helped. No rushing in the morning. Over breakfast I entered in my lunch to spark and did not eat anything extra...

Feeling positive
