Down 92lbs!

Well, I have not stayed true to my promise of continuing to post on Spark. I've vacationed from the site for over a year. BUT I am so excited to report my success. As of today, I have LOST 92lbs! I have gained a much healthier lifestyle- eating lots of fruits & veggies, exercising more, drinking alcohol less & smiling as much as I can! :)

I am running my first 1/2 marathon on November 5th of this year. I am scared crapless. My official training starts August 13th. I'm going to need everyone's help to keep my head up! I'm hoping that working towards this goal really helps me to lose my last 30lbs!

I will update my page this weekend & post as many pictures as possible. In the mean time I'll leave you with a little treat.

    Beginning again here and am inspired by your blog! Thank you for sharing! 92 lbs! That's amazing! I am down 30 and have 120 to go. Please let me know if there is something specific you did on a daily basis to stay focused.

    emoticon on your weight loss success!!!! Awesome on taking on the challenge of the half marathon! Don't be afraid of it, it is a great distance!! Follow your training program and you will be prepared and ready to run come race day. Best of luck!

Hello Spark Friends!
I finally reopened my Spark page & decided to become an active member of SparkPeople again! It's funny how giddy I get when I finally update my page, especially since I have posted more recent pictures. If you look on my home page, you can see a picture of myself at my starting weight & one of myself at my current weight. I couldn't believe how noticeable the change was! It's hard to even see the little changes when you look at yourself on a daily basis.

Lately I have been receiving a lot of notice with my weight loss. I have been running into family & friends that I haven't seen in quite some time. They don't let me forget that I look different! It's so motivating to hear the encouragement. I've been needing that lately. I've definitely hit that plateau that you always hear weight losers hit. (Haven't lost more than 4lbs since December) I'm still an active Weight Watchers follower. Lately I've been behaving on WW too :) I love having WW there for me. It really helps to keep me accountable.

Since I last posted on Spark, my running has dwindled. I do NOT feel ready for the Crazy Legs 8k run. I still have 20 days to train. Hallelujah. I know I can do it... I've worked myself pretty hard this week just to prove to myself that I can reach that goal. I've thought multiple times about skipping the race but quickly reminded myself how disappointed I would be if I didn't do it. I've also reminded myself that I can truly run that 8k. All I need to do is keep working towards that goal. I know how happy I will be once I cross that finish line!

    You can do a lot in 20 days! Just be consistent and you'll do great. The worst that will happen is you'll run/walk the race, but you will definitely finish and feel great and be thinner when you cross that finish line in 20 days. Best of luck!

Runner's High!

Wow. I am so excited to report my progress.
I recently joined Anytime Fitness where I have been working out 3x or more a week. It has been so nice to actually have a gym to go to during these cold days. I live in an attic apartment where I do work out videos. Every single time that I am really getting into the groove, the downstairs neighbors pound on the ceiling! They are not the best neighbors to have... to say the least.

Anyway, I started "running" sometime around October. I was barely able to make it 1/4 of the way around the Monona Bay which is 3+ miles long. I was really nervous once it started to snow because I knew this meant no more outdoor running. I ran on my parent's treadmill when I went home through November & December. I also did my work out videos on a non-consistent basis... I have only been a member at Anytime for a month now, but I can see such a huge change in my agility.

Down to business- This past Sunday night, I was so bored with being indoors, so I decided to take a walk/ run outside, which I haven't done since the first snowfall! I started off my normal route around the Monona Bay. I figured that I would run a little bit & stop when I had to & then go back home. Well, I never stopped running! I never even felt the need to. I ran the entire 3+ miles of the Monona Bay. It had been so intimidating to me a mere 3 months ago! Once I got home, I could not stop smiling. I was so happy to see how far I had come! I am finally a runner & I know that I will reach my healthy weight loss goal! I'm excited for the Crazy Legs 8K in April.

Can't wait to see what this year has in store for me!

I also already broke my promise of posting one blog a week. I'm getting back into that groove too. One blog every week.... I promise??? :)

    That is sooooo EXCITING!!! I am very jelous! I have been working out consistantly since October, and I just started running, I am on my 3rd week. I can't get very far yet, but GOD DO I LOVE IT! I can't wait till I can run a whole mile, or 2 or 3!

New Year- New Me!

My first goal for 2010 is to post a blog entry at least once a week. I have realized how rewarding it will be for me to look back on all my entries & remember my emotions throughout my journey.

I will stick to the Weight Watchers program & fit in all of my healthy food guidelines for the day. I will also exercise at least 4X a week.

I have decided to start training for the Crazy Legs 8K run that takes place on April 24th. I have 4 months to train for it, which is more than enough. I can't wait to see how much I can push myself. I am very excited to take my running to the next step. My goal is to lose 30lbs before the race.

I have also set a finalized date for when I want to reach my goal. September 1st, 2009. That gives me 9 months to lose 70lbs. That's less than 10lbs a month! Completely doable. :)

The most exciting thing for me right now is finally knowing that there is an end in sight. It's about time...

I hope everyone's New Year is as peaceful, happy, successful & rewarding as mine is going to be. :D

    I felt so relieved when I gave myself a time frame. It's so much more focused for a person driven by a schedule like me. It sounds do-able that way. You seem to be right on track. Huzzah!

I've Become a Broken Record...

I feel that I keep saying the same things over & over... "I'm getting back on the workout band wagon. Blah, blah, blah..." Needless to say, I haven't hopped back on.

I have been doing really well with my eating habits by staying on the Weight Watchers plan but I'm still not exercising. I want to fully blame it on the snow but I can't... Before the snow I was running outside! Yes, I said it- Running! Grrr. The reason that I can't blame it just on the snow is because I can easily do free workout videos from the internet. I know that I don't solely need a gym to get activity in. Fortunately, I also know that I have dug myself into a rut that I can definitely dig my way out of. This Friday (Pay Day :D) I am getting a gym membership at the local gym! I need to start strength training & bringing back my old cardio habits!

I have recently realized how important a support system is. I am so thankful that I have such an encouraging roommate. She's always pushing me to eat healthy & she's very excited for me to get a gym membership. She even became vegetarian this semester for me & she's an awesome cook, so I'm very lucky!

Any suggestions for good, free online workout videos would be helpful! ...or any other suggestions on getting back on track would be much appreciated.

    SparkPeople has a couple of free cardio workout videos underneath the Fitness resources. You might also see what you can find on youtube.
