I belong to a gym that has almost 20 locations within a 15 mile radius from my house and my membership allows me to visit any and all of them. I haven't been to all of them (yet), but there is one in particular that I really like. It is about 15-20 minute drive - so not too bad... but it is a beautiful gym! Many amenities that I won't use, but it's nice to know they are there. Climbing wall, 3 section nursery (infants in a private room within the nursery), toddlers and "bigger" kids. They have a crawl-thru play structure inside (like Chuck E Cheese), outside play structure, movie area, reading area, play area - wish I were a lil one! There are 3 pools - a lap pool, a "class" pool & a play pool (shallow), a jacuzzi & a water "park" - water squirting from the ground & other structures. I wonder if they'll let me pull a lounger into it? The cardio area is upstairs with MANY treadmills (4 different models to choose from), ellipticals (many different models to choose from), stair climbers (2 different types), bikes (many different types), an ab area, weight area, kickboxing area and classrooms. Downstairs is where you will find a basketball court & 2 racquetball courts along with the weight machines and free weight area.
I found some workout equipment (weight machines) that I can use!!! The brand is Hoist. They do not cause my sciatica to flare up! I can use all 10 machines - 5 upper body & 5 lower body. and... I don't dread them!!! don't get me wrong... I don't like them,.... but I like them!!! LOL Which brings me to my point.... I am sooooo SORE!!! I feel like I was hit by a big rig! But, I'm glad!!! I actually am working out!!! FOR REAL!!! YAY ME!! emoticon

As I was making comment on other members' blogs, I cam across someone who blogged something that I could have written myself! It made me feel like there really are others out there who feel & think the same way I do!
Here's my rendition: I am really starting to look GOOD! emoticon I still have a long way to go, but I am down 37 lbs from 220 emoticon and am just now realizing that I am wearing a size 14 from a 20!!! emoticon Thrift shops are my friend since I still have another 20-30 lbs to go! I put on a go-to dress the other day to go to a class and it was HUGE!! Luckily, it's flowy and still looks good, but it was actually just hanging on me. My DH said "You aren't going to be wearing that much longer!" Made me feel sooo good to hear him say that. emoticon
I am in a high motivation stage right now, where all I want to do is go to the gym and eat properly. I was in a weight-stay plateau for 5 weeks and in the last two weeks have seen a 1 lb loss each week. If I could just stay on that schedule, I will be happy! emoticon

After I blogged yesterday, I went to the gym! GOOD news!! Weigh in showed a 1# loss!!! emoticon YAY!!! Walked on the treadmill 60 minutes @ 3mph (3 miles) @ 2% incline! emoticon
Going to the gym this afternoon and will get another 3 miles in! GO me!! emoticon

I can't believe it has been 2 months since I blogged! GAH! emoticon
Well..... I've been busy! My daughter was married this past Saturday and that took a lot of time preparing! But... I DID go to the gym and exceeded my goal of going a minimum of 3 days per week.... emoticon I made it 5 days a week for most of the weeks AND some days I went TWICE!! The scale hasn't moved much, but I am happy with the loss I did get... mostly because I haven't changed my eating or drinking habits, so it is what it is... emoticon
In these past 2 months, I tried tracking my food intake - it just ain't gonna happen... emoticon
I have a workout buddy and when she meets up with me at the gym, we usually are able to walk for an hour on the treadmill. We are soon going to start with weight training as soon as I have a steady schedule within the next few weeks. Right now, I have to play chauffeur for my daughter who's work schedule is varied between her two jobs. But, as a Mom, I gotta do what I gotta do.

New month... New start!

It always seems to start that way! I'm not gonna say I'n gonna post everyday, cuz, in reality, it prolly won't happen! BUT... I am going to say... I'm starting off right... well almost.... missed the few first days due to unavoidable circumstances...
My workout buddy/good friend started the SP 5K Your Way Walk/Jog Program today! It was surprisingly easy when you have a buddy to do it with. I tried it a while back, but - as usual - didn't follow thru, so I'm glad I have a buddy to help me along! MOTIVATION - both self- and forced - seems to be the key to my success. I'm pretty sure Lindsay feels the same way. So, TOGETHER we are gonna DO IT!
We're going back to the gym after dinner to do another 2-3 mile walk on the treadmill. Or should I say "talk" on the treadmill???? LOL
