So, I learned a lesson tonight.... I've been really good about going to the gym 3-5 times a week for the past few months, but the past week & a half, I allowed "other" things to take priority. Went to the gym tonight with Hubby. I got on the treadmill as I usually do and 1.5 miles into it, my back went into spasm. OWIE!!
Lesson learned... STAY ON TRACK!! No more skipping gym!!
Heading upstairs now to ice my back!

I did it!!! I hit a mini-goal!! I am down 40 lbs!!! I lost 2 lbs last week... even after gorging in junk food & an ice cream sundae!! I don't know why I ate mindlessly , but I did. I'm not going to say it won't happen again, cuz I know it will... but I may not be so lucky next time!
I CAN give credit to my workout efforts! Since finding the Hoist circuit at the Rocklin gym, I have been excited and motivated to work out, knowing the pain that comes from it is GOOD pain and not the bad pain of sciatica! It is amazing that I can workout without worrying about being bed-ridden due to a sciatic flare-up! I would like to do strength training on Mon, Weds & Fri, but bowling starts in a few weeks (Thursdays), so Weds strength training won't be a good idea. So, I am going to do my strength training on Mon & Fri, along with my 2-3 miles on the treadmill. I will continue treadmill on Tues & Thurs.
and, speaking of treadmill... I have been walking at 3mph for 2-3 miles... but, I discovered how much more I am getting out of it by alternating walking 3 mph for 4 miles then 4 mph for 1 minute. I have tried jogging, but it hurts my knees (and my "girls") so this fast walking pace at intervals is working out great!

I belong to a gym that has almost 20 locations within a 15 mile radius from my house and my membership allows me to visit any and all of them. I haven't been to all of them (yet), but there is one in particular that I really like. It is about 15-20 minute drive - so not too bad... but it is a beautiful gym! Many amenities that I won't use, but it's nice to know they are there. Climbing wall, 3 section nursery (infants in a private room within the nursery), toddlers and "bigger" kids. They have a crawl-thru play structure inside (like Chuck E Cheese), outside play structure, movie area, reading area, play area - wish I were a lil one! There are 3 pools - a lap pool, a "class" pool & a play pool (shallow), a jacuzzi & a water "park" - water squirting from the ground & other structures. I wonder if they'll let me pull a lounger into it? The cardio area is upstairs with MANY treadmills (4 different models to choose from), ellipticals (many different models to choose from), stair climbers (2 different types), bikes (many different types), an ab area, weight area, kickboxing area and classrooms. Downstairs is where you will find a basketball court & 2 racquetball courts along with the weight machines and free weight area.
I found some workout equipment (weight machines) that I can use!!! The brand is Hoist. They do not cause my sciatica to flare up! I can use all 10 machines - 5 upper body & 5 lower body. and... I don't dread them!!! don't get me wrong... I don't like them,.... but I like them!!! LOL Which brings me to my point.... I am sooooo SORE!!! I feel like I was hit by a big rig! But, I'm glad!!! I actually am working out!!! FOR REAL!!! YAY ME!!
