Hot day...but not as bad as I thought....

The wagon ride at the fair.....aren't these horses awesome?

Went to Dennys for dinner and these ducks were waiting outside the door...now this made me happy and smile.

Parrot at the fair.

It really was an awesome day. I met, again, a lady from last year who's sister was just diagnosed with breast cancer, last year and I gave her a pair of my pink ribbon earrings. She loved the earrings and when she lost her battle this year she was still wearing them. This made me feel sad and happy...sad she lost, happy my earrings gave her such joy. The sister is making scarves with colors and ribbons for different cancers now and bringing me one tomorrow. It was so good to see her again.
We have stayed in touch with e mails and I hope we continue to.

Met many people and had great talks with some that seemed very lonely and I hope I cheered them a little.

Tomorrow may be even better, but that darn heat is just awful.

The pictures were great. And so is your jewelry. I'm not surprised that this woman was wearing your earrings and treasured them. You are very talented.

When I got there, the space was sooo small, I didn't know what to do, so I set up my table really close to the front line. I didn't sell much, too much on too small a table. When she got there, she threw a fit, told me it had to go, I wasn't surprised, it was her booth. So I packed every thing up to take home. Oh well, so tomorrow I go back with a smaller table and less product to sell...I was also told to sit across the aisle so people could get in. So I got creative and set up the table and fitted a lot of my stuff there and two trays on my bin I packed them in. We will see from there how she reacts. As a friend there said its better to be there with less and have the chance for contacts than to not be there at all. So we will see. I felt like crying, but didn't....that was really hard for me.

Only made about $30 but it's better a little than none.

miss being here. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm sorry that it didnt go the way you thought it would but maybe now that you have an idea of how things can be set up and how to make your items sell, when you go next time I am sure it will go much more smoothly! Feel better, you will do fine next time!

I am not surprised you felt like crying. I would have cried as well. This was so unkind of that lady. Dont take it to heart. You are not responsible for other peoples bad charactor. You are a very special soul and dont need to worry about anything. God takes good care of nice ladies like you.

I gather from the pictures you posted on a previous blog that you craft necklaces / jewelry? If I may make a suggestion: 1) spray paint your display boards in a 'warmer' color, like a pale cream-color; warm is more psychologically attractive (who knows why? lol) plus it will make a nice contrast for the pieces you are displaying; 2) use a couple empty shoeboxes upside down - you can spray paint them, but since often cardboard doesn't hold up well as the paint dries, try putting some fabric (plain color, in order to show off your wares) like silk or satin or even velveteen - raid the remnants bins at fabric stores - loosely draped over the boxes, then drape the jewelry over them; by creating different 'levels' you make a slightly more complex scene. When people have to let their eyes linger a bit to focus on different levels, it slows down their attention - and might prompt a sale or two! (IMHO - used to do some craft booths myself a few years back.)

Resting now....and early to bed, early to rise.....

Sunday, August 08, 2010

checked out the booth space today, really tight, but, I managed one of three tables and tomorrow I just need to figure out how to put three tables of merchandise on one...but guess what....I am going to do it. Two booths down is a couple I met at the last county fair so there is someone I know there.

Will take pics tomorrow so you can see how tiny the spot is...

I can't wait.

I am sure you will find a way to make the stall look attractive once you get down to decorating it. Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

Started with a cabbage decorating contest...so funny.

great parade

and a great day family day. I didn't make much,, made some connections for possible fund raisers I can help with.

Daughter was here all day, it was so great and son and family here by 9PM. After packing it all in, we took the kids to the carnival, I gave them money to play the games and had something to eat. Then back to the house and they watched the fire works from our yard and the little guy and I rested in the living room,, we were so tired.

Now everyone is gone and I am getting ready to set up tomorrow for the next county fair.

Miss ya all.
