New Attitude

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

December 12, 1981 was my wedding day! :) My husband and I went out for a nice dinner to celebrate our 31st anniversary. I drank 2 large glasses of water, I ate all my veggies, brought more than half of my prime rib home and also more than half the dessert we shared. I did indulge in a gingerbread martini which hubby helped me drink.

What have I done to Sparkle lately? I made a promise to myself I will get in my 10K steps each day this week. I will also get in 30 minutes or more of exercise each day. I will get in the habit of drinking water with each meal and also having a cup of herbal tea each morning. (Can you tell I'm still struggling with that water habit? WELL I WAS, but now I'm serious...64 ounces of water is not going to get the best of me!) I am going to take this one week at a time, one day at a time if I have to. I refuse to give up and I refuse to be the "fat grandma"! I am worth a healthy lifestyle, I deserve it!

I try to make it a point to get half the water down by noon. It helps. I fill a glass with water at the sink and chug it down first thing.

I am so very thankful that my mother-in-law is home and doing much better. It's been very difficult to stay on track with my Novermber goals because we were all trying to make sure she had 24 / 7 home care. Things have calmed down now, but of course the holidays are here in full force so how calm can we be? hehe

I am thankful for my family and friends and my sparkfriends too. You all keep me believing that I can do this. Even when I get sidetracked or sideswiped...there is still that spark of hope that I can find my way to a fit and healthy lifestyle.

I may not be where I had hoped to be at this point, but I am in a better place than before spark people. I am still and always will be a work in progress, but I sure hope I am soon to be a smaller version of myself next month. I haven't gotten any that's good!

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I hope you all had a lovely time too. I will get better at posting and shrinking and staying on track. emoticon

November REBOOT! With a Halloween sidenote!

Sunday, November 04, 2012

Last Thursday was the start of a new month, but I'm going to start my new Month officially tomorrow! I did manage to log in and get my 50+ Spark points every day of November so far, and I've been getting most of my water in BUT I need a REBOOT!

My mother-in-law, who is very dear to me and to all the family, had a mild stroke late Friday night. She was taken to the emergency room of the nearest hospital, which is a good hospital, but after they admitted her, they had to send her to another hospital at 4 AM because of insurance glitches. I won't go into hairy details, but it was a harrowing experience to say the least. She is doing well now, it was a very mild stroke but very scary for all of us.

So, the weekend was a series of extra prayers, phone calls, text messages, hospital visits, waiting on doctors and test results, worrying and wondering, and eating on the run. Exercise got totally bypassed on Saturday and I did not want to start my new month like that! I didn't even notice the extra hour we got today. I'VE BEEN ROBBED! I always look forward to that extra hour we get with the fall time change...and it sneaked right past me!

OK, I am done whining. I will clean up the mess in my kitchen which appeared while we were sleeping, (I had just cleaned all the surfaces, fridge, stove, counters, sinks, before I went to bed Friday night, and now ...wait, I said I was done whining didn't I? ) (SMACKS her forehead) OK Really done this time. I'm starting fresh. When I get up tomorrow, I will be on track with my goals for myself and for my home.

On a totally different note, I was invited to go along with my grandson, his parents and his other grandma for trick or treating Wednesday night. WOW! I had such a fantastic time watching my little grandson, all dressed up like a pirate, going house to house with his bag held open in two hands, and trick or treating. I swear I giggled every time I heard him say "Trick or treat!" One time he said "Can I want some trick or treat please?" And after saying "Thank you" he would come back to us and say "Next house". You may think I'm biased, but this little two and a half year old is absolutely adorable! He just cracks me up! We did a lot of walking that night and a lot of laughing too.

I thought my kitchen was the only one that spontaneously combusted overnight?!? So glad you were able to spend some trick-or-treat time with your Grandson and so sorry to hear of your Mother-in-Law's illness. Good luck with the reboot!

Looking Ahead

Sunday, October 28, 2012

I could have done better in October but I'm not going to let that get me down. emoticon

For November I plan to re-read The Spark and re-light my fire. emoticon

I will drink my 64 oz of water each day and I will continue with my exercises. emoticon

I will step on that scale at least 4 times and watch it go down! emoticon emoticon

I will hold myself accountable by posting a blog each week to report on my progress. emoticon

I will enjoy Thanksgiving without going overboard! (Actually enjoy not feeling as stuffed as the turkey so this one will be fairly easy for me! hehe) emoticon emoticon

I will continue to SPARK and Be Sparked with my teams and friends. emoticon

Moving forward again!

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

Well, a cold got the best of me for a few days. I didn't get in my steps or exercise or water for 3 days. BUT I'm feeling better each day and I did get my steps, exercise, and water in yesterday. Also got my water in today and I'll get my steps and exercise in before I go to bed.

I guess I have to take those bumps in the road in stride but I wish they didn't happen at all. At least I didn't let the housework get out of control. emoticon So here I go again taking two big steps forward to a more fit and fabulous me! emoticon
