The day before yesterday, my second day of walking, I procrastinated till after dark, and then went out to our still steamy neighborhood. I've been a walker (till recently) for a long time, but I've NEVER had such a hard time walking. I was lethargic, my legs felt like tree trunks, I didn't feel like even straightening up my body. It didn't get better as I walked (only for 15 minutes). It felt like age had finally checked in and I would never feel energetic again.

Yesterday, I did 2 20 minute stints: 10 minutes on the elliptical (I'd been doing 30), then 10 minutes walking to get the stiffness out of my legs (spread throughout the day). I could not believe how much better my legs felt this morning. It seems that even walking like a zapped tree trunk was enough to start the circulation going again. As someone who used to walk 4 miles 3 times a week, I was humiliated at my weakness.

Today's a rest day, then back to walking tomorrow.

Yes, that heat and humidity are real energy drainers. Keep up the good work though -- don't give up. Every little bit helps and adds up!!

Lost one pound since yesterday, my first day back at exercising. I'm grateful for that small reward. Now moving on....

I love it when my scales drop a pound - when they drop a kilo we get to go for sushi!

One to two pounds per week is a nice steady pace for a long lasting weight loss. Well done! Keep up the good work!

About a month ago, I overdid on exercising and injured a knee, and about the time that started getting better, I had oral surgery and was sidelined for a little longer. I'm 66, and have to be more careful, apparently.

Today was my first day back to exercise: 10 minutes on the elliptical, 12 minutes cool down with a slow walk, then stretching. My knee immediately started hurting again, but it doesn't hurt now, so I'm hoping the small amount of walking was okay. I've gained 5 lbs. since not exercising, without overeating (but a lot of processed puddings and such).... exercise is the key for me!
