Birthday....

I had a great birthday yesterday and instead of exercising went to bed early... (thanks everyone for the birthday wishes)

The kids had me busy all day including a dance competition, school, dance class, martial arts... My dad took me out for lunch (squeezed in the time of kindergarten) and saw my mom at dance class.

As for gifts, I'm waiting until my party on Saturday... when we celebrate my birthday and Mother's Day at my mom's house. I'll be brining my 92yo grandmother out for the party!

Not too much walking this week as the weather hasn't cooperated... Yesterday we did have to park 3 blocks from the dance competition so we did some walking. And we've managed to walk 2 days to school without getting rained on. I did start the week with a few good workouts in the evening and hope to start that again after I finish making mother's day presents. The quilts still need to be quilted and bound... (12" square hand painted wall hangings)

Sunday I hope to have a quiet day with my family...

  


A 7km Walk

Today I walked 7km! With my 3yo in the stroller. It was a gorgeous sunny morning, and I wanted to walk with the kids to school. The older two are in school all day so I quickly got my stroller ready (including pumping up the tires as it hadn't been used since the fall) and off we headed to school. After reading in the Kindergarten class, we headed off on our walk to a local playground, then for another walk to Starbucks - I had an iced tea as I really didn't want anything hot or with milk after our long walk. On our way home, we stopped at the school playground and played with some of K's preschool & Kindergarten friends. We left home at 8:30 this morning, and got back home by 12:15.... It was a great morning, although the clouds came in so it was a little chilly.

Also weighed in today - down 4pounds in 2.5 weeks - not bad with just a little exercise - but I was keeping track of what I was eating.

Now we are off walking to school to pickup the older two kids, and another play in the playground.

Having trouble staying motivated

I really need to get some exercise in! I`m really having difficulty scheduling time for myself. I am eating well, I am walking, BUT I really want to get in some strength training and toning in as well as some good cardio. BUT I`m tired of exercising after 9PM and can`t figure out how to get it in before then....

    I just joined Curves to get my strength training in. I was doing cardio every day, but I'm just spinning my wheels if I don't build any muscle! Hopefully you can find some time!

    Join me right now! Drop and do 3 sets of push ups after you press enter on your blog. Strength training can be squeezed into the most unusual times and places. Pushups for lovely sculupted summer shoulders and tight triceps. Seriously, as soon as I press "post comment", I will be on the carpet next to the dining room table.

A Beautiful Spring Day

Its a gorgeous spring day today. We walked to school and the girls & I will have a picnic lunch at school between Preschool and Kindergarten.

I am energized to get back on track with my exercise. My cold/vertigo a few weeks ago but a halt to my great exercising... but I have still been exercising just not as intensely. I wish there were more hours in the day, as my crafting is suffering from lack of time due to my increased exercise. I am really trying to find a balance between the two.

My goals this week are to start tracking what I'm eating again, and get in atleast 1/2 hour of exercise in the evening.

    I'm with you---after a week of vacation, I need to get back on track. I was doing so well! :) I think my reward this week will be a cue from you: some new workout clothes!

By the way, there are some 10 minute workouts out there so you can fit it in here and there instead of a big chunk of time all at once. Kickboxing, dance, aerobics. Lots of options!

A small gain

I started this weight loss journey knowing I was changing my lifestyle. And its not only about the scale. Today the scale was reporting a 1lb gain! But I'm fine with that because I will loose it again! Its only one pound. I am still loosing fat and gaining muscle!

Since January I have
- lost 30lbs
- exercised nearly every day
- eaten a variety of fruits and vegetables
- drank more than 8 glasses of water each day
- cut down on "white" foods
- slept 6 hours or more a night (most nights)
- eaten within my calorie range most days

Although I still suffer headaches, which are possibly hormone related or from low iron levels. Currently working on trying to figure out their source.

And the most important thing is I love my new lifestyle! I am committed to eating healthy and exercising more.
