We headed out to Woman's Hockey today. We drove part way, walked, took the SkyTrain (kinda like a subway, but above ground), a short walk, hopped on a bus, another walk, walked a few blocks, then grabbed a bus out to UBC. Once there we sat and ate our lunch that we picked up at Subway. We were so early that we had to wait for security to open! One of the first through security and then waited for the game to start. The older two kids did well. The youngest had difficulties with the waiting and length of the game -- she was ready to go home after the warm up skate!
For the most part we were dressed for the day, but could have really done with pillows, or blankets, or soft fluffy parkas to SIT on. We were in the end zones, and were on temporary seating -- metal grandstands/scaffolding -- so our derrières were cold!
The game was good -- Switzerland shut out China - in a pretty good game.
Tomorrow we are headed to Men's Curling. We were hoping to take the Train (West Coast Express) but upon looking at the schedule, the first train home leaves at 9PM! So now I wonder if that is the best decision.... We'd have to take the bus in from home, not partway as the first train doesn't leave until too late, and then we'd have to stay out for about 4 hours after the event before heading home. I'll have to check with everyone to figure out what the plan is. Usually the West Coast Express is a commuter only train, and so it doesn't make much opportunity for many others to take it.
We will be sitting again on metal grandstands so we will be taking warmer/softer coats!

My plan for this week include runs on Monday, Wednesday & Friday. On Saturday and Sunday it is unlikely that I will get a run in, as we have Olympic tickets. We will need to leave approximately 4 hours (possibly more) before each event, so I might be able to get out for an early and short run, but if not we will be doing lots of walking and other family activities!
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday I plan on strength training, Sunday I hope to get some yoga in.
Feb 15 - 4.8km Running, 2.7km Walking, Stretching
Feb 16 - 1.8km Walking, ST Upper body done, 30 min yoga
Feb 17 - 15km Run, 0.9km Walk, Stretching, 40min Skating
Feb 18 - 1.9km Walking
** No Strength Training -- was feeling very ill in the evening
Feb 19 - 8km Walking, 20min setting up tables and chairs at school
Feb 20 - 4.5km Walking, 75min moving tables, chairs and boxes taking down a scrapbooking CROP. My Strength Training/Cardio for the night!
Feb 21 -
UPDATE: I will not be running this weekend. We need to leave by 9:30 each morning, possibly earlier on Sunday so I'd have to be up and out for my run by 6AM if I were headed out... I don't do runs that early! Especially since I need to function for the rest of the day. I will spend the weekend with my family -- and we will be walking and taking transit, so although I'll miss my runs, I will enjoy my weekend.
UPDATE #2: Setting up & taking down from the scrapbooking CROP at our school was great exercise. We setup within 20min with the help 4 adults and various kids. Taking down took 3 of us over an hour to sort, clean, move chairs, boxes and tables. All done by 11PM!

This week has been great. For the most part I've been on track -- eating well, exercising well... I did make some changes to my plan as by Thursday I needed a bit of a break plus was overrun by other activities. I didn't get all my runs in because the kids were off school, but did get time on the exercise bike!
Today I started the day early to take my 7yo daughter to a Highland Dance competition. She did great. It was her first competition up a level, competing in two new dances. She danced strong and had fun and came home with three third place medals and a 4th place. Today she danced the Highland Fling, the Sword Dance, the Scottish Lilt and Flora MacDonald's Fancy.
Then we stopped by to show the medals off to Gramma's (my mom)... and then us girls went out shopping. I was looking for a skirt and dress.... So did I find something? Yes! I tried on MANY MANY MANY items.... I found a skirt and two blouses and two dresses and a sweater. I will post photos once I get dressed up in them. I don't believe the size on the label - definitely found some "VANITY" sizing or strange FIT! According to the size chart on their website, I should be in a size 7 or 9... but the dresses are an XS and others are size "5". Most items I tried on were stretch, but not everything - and for the most part the size 5 was the best fit, unless my mom grabbed from the petite section (size 7s didn't fit! they were too tight across the shoulders). The dresses were on super sale, so I picked up both, one is sleeveless and black (a great "little" black dress -- with emphasis on little!!!) and one is burgundy.
Now the only thing I need is a great bra! I did get some shape-wear, that will be necessary under these dresses.... BUT do need a bra to wear with my dress clothes, as the shape-wear doesn't do anything for enhancing what little is left... I will get out on Monday or Tuesday hunting for a bra... not going to be fun, but I really need one that fits!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
