Rewards - I bought more to rebuild my wardrobe (sorry no photos yet!)

Sunday, February 14, 2010

This week has been great. For the most part I've been on track -- eating well, exercising well... I did make some changes to my plan as by Thursday I needed a bit of a break plus was overrun by other activities. I didn't get all my runs in because the kids were off school, but did get time on the exercise bike!

Today I started the day early to take my 7yo daughter to a Highland Dance competition. She did great. It was her first competition up a level, competing in two new dances. She danced strong and had fun and came home with three third place medals and a 4th place. Today she danced the Highland Fling, the Sword Dance, the Scottish Lilt and Flora MacDonald's Fancy.

Then we stopped by to show the medals off to Gramma's (my mom)... and then us girls went out shopping. I was looking for a skirt and dress.... So did I find something? Yes! I tried on MANY MANY MANY items.... I found a skirt and two blouses and two dresses and a sweater. I will post photos once I get dressed up in them. I don't believe the size on the label - definitely found some "VANITY" sizing or strange FIT! According to the size chart on their website, I should be in a size 7 or 9... but the dresses are an XS and others are size "5". Most items I tried on were stretch, but not everything - and for the most part the size 5 was the best fit, unless my mom grabbed from the petite section (size 7s didn't fit! they were too tight across the shoulders). The dresses were on super sale, so I picked up both, one is sleeveless and black (a great "little" black dress -- with emphasis on little!!!) and one is burgundy.

Now the only thing I need is a great bra! I did get some shape-wear, that will be necessary under these dresses.... BUT do need a bra to wear with my dress clothes, as the shape-wear doesn't do anything for enhancing what little is left... I will get out on Monday or Tuesday hunting for a bra... not going to be fun, but I really need one that fits!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

I'm glad you're having fun shopping now. Those new clothes will remind you how much you have accomplished.

You rock!

I have been fitted for a bra before -- but that was at a much bigger size, so that doesn't work. I have decreased significantly in both cup and band size. Tomorrow I will go bra shopping.... probably with my 4yo unless I can fit my run in and get bra shopping during preschool.

Oh, I cannot wait to do just that...rewards with smaller clothes. I think it is wonderful that your daughter is being active and doing something she enjoys at the same time. You are setting a great example for her and us. Thank you! It helps to know that it is do able.

Congratulations to you! You have so much to be proud of and think of all the years you have added to your life for those beautiful babies you have pictured on your page! Pat yourself on the back.

Good luck with the bra shopping--I am still terrorized to this day from the first time I had to go bra shopping with my Mom! One never forgets the trauma!

Skating Fun!

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Yesterday I took my 4yo out to Parent & Tot skating ! Two weeks ago we went skating as a family with the Olympic Mascots and she's hooked.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
For her I have skates and a helmet, as well as my own skates and I grabbed my brother's hockey helmet out of his gear (I figure if its stored here I can use it!!!) So off we headed to the arena, where we found 4 other kids (and their mothers) out skating -- because we had our own gear, it cost us approximately $4 to skate for nearly an hour.

She was great out on the ice - given that it was only the second time she's been on the ice!

Do you think she had fun?

Here is the scrapbook page I just created:

The only problem was my older two kids were jealous. Now off to figure out some family skating time that works with the schedule....

You are doing great. Me I am bummed for the time I am feeling so destructive just want the scale to move and it will not and I have been so good I did not even cheat at the Super bowl party. They had a huge brownie tray and chips my weakness. But I did not and that scale is still not moving. I hate the voice in my head that wants me to feel like a failure at this. You seem to be doing great and I am proud of you. Nice to have you as a friend. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I will get back on track!

Saturday, February 06, 2010

The last few weeks -- since Christmas I have been struggling.... to stay motivated, to eat healthy and keep going.... I know I can do it, I do enjoy exercise but have been sidetracked by a slight overuse injury, sick kids and fatigue... I know I've done well hitting some major milestones since Christmas, but I need to keep going, I need to keep healthy and keep exercising. I think the January Bootcamp Challenge was great, but I think it may have been too much with the strength training and my usual 1+ hour of cardio 5x a week... So time to come up with a much more workable plan.

To many it may not seem that I have been off track, but I feel like I have! And that is what counts. Time to stop this before any weight comes back....

To regroup, this week I took this week easy.

emoticonI only walked, no running... but I have logged 35.1km which meets my goal for the week! I didn't do any strength training either.
emoticonI headed to bed early. And I will again tonight.
emoticonI watched what I ate. And was within my calories all week, but sometimes over or under on protein, carbs or fat. But averaged over the week I did fine.
emoticonI bought a pair of skinny boot cut jeans, size 9 for $10!!! Not only another pair of pants that fit, but at that price it doesn't matter if they don't fit in 2 months!

What am I doing starting tomorrow?

emoticonI will continue to eat healthy. And work on getting my protein in range (I have less problems with fats & carbs)
emoticonI will start running again this week. I am going to map out a "flat" route near the school to get in my runs. And if its wet, so I drive the kids to school, I will probably drive either to the lake trail, or out to the farm and run the dikes. I will run a minimum of 3 times a week, with other cardio if I can't get in my runs for a total of 5 days of cardio. No running for me coming up on Friday as the kids are off school.
I have an 8K run in 4 weeks and my goal is to RUN the 8K in under 56minutes.
emoticonI will start back with my strength training. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
emoticonI will add yoga back in on Sundays

I can do this, I can get back on track. Goal weight -- hear I come!

And to get myself motivated I'm setting a reward! Next weekend is Valentine's Day and a friend of mine and her son are coming over to see an Olympic event -- they have offered to watch the kids on Valentine's Day so I can head out for dinner with my husband! So I am going to get myself a nice dress or skirt!

WOW this all sounds good to me. You are doing great do not be too hard on yourself. I think we all just get tired of it all. But we do not let it take over and control us, we do what needs to be done to stay healthy. Careful you do not hurt or overdue it. I bet you are looking forward to getting the new dress? I wish I was in a size 9. Someday I will be back there again. Right now I want the size 14 which should be coming next. Have a great week end. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Still trying to stay motivated

Thursday, February 04, 2010

My headache is gone, but still not 100%. I got a good sleep last night.

I did go for two walks today with my 4yo... one to school and back and another at a park with a friend. Its a beautiful day and great to enjoy this mild winter day.

I am still working hard to eating well and drinking my water. Its one day at a time....
