The problem I have is I want to seriously start walking further distances. I think my body is telling me "I don't think so!". About a week ago, I walked 2.75 miles. When I got home, I had a raised bump on my achilles heel. It's not painful, just kind of scary looking. I put my foot in some ice water and it calmed down a bit.
I went out and bought official walking shoes, thick thick socks. Today I went for a walk. Everything felt good. I shortened my walk to 2 miles, avoid any problems. Got home, felt the bump raise again. Like I said, there is no real pain. But the stuff on the internet is scaring me. Seems like I could cause some real damage if I am not careful.
What do you think I should do. I can't afford a doctor. Should I shorten the distance again, tape my ankle up, etc? I am thinking about every other day of walking, but I really wanted to start going longer distances. Any suggestions? Has anyone gone through this before?
