A New Edition to the Family...

Thursday, May 27, 2010

So we just adopted a kitten. Totally unexpected. I was minding my business, working from home when a friend tells me she found a kitten on the Buckman Bridge. Anyone who knows Jacksonville knows it would have never survived if she had not turned around and gone back for it -- on the bridge.

Since she knows nothing about cats and has 3 dogs and since this little thing is only about 3 weeks old (per the vet), we'll keep him. We're calling him "Little Buckman." It was either that or "Dudus" after the Jamaican gang leader who is causing so much trouble in Jamaica...

Anyway, my eating is going extremely well. I am drinking a glass of wine - the first this week, and I have room in my food tracker for another glass of wine.

Hello SP World!

Sunday, May 23, 2010

So I finished the 4-day "cleanse", lost 6 lbs, and then went back to a somewhat normal diet. I ate red meat, I'm back on alcohol, and yesterday's dinner, although still well under my calorie requirement, consisted only of fried foods. Hmmm...

I feel bloated and overall yucky. Especially after the Tento's red meat dinner. That was an eye-opener.

I really was starting to enjoy the salt-free taste of things. Who would have ever thought that? I am such a salt fiend.

So Peter and I are going to modify our eating to stay closer to the 4-day cleanse program. We both agree that we feel better, have more energy, and didn't feel deprived. So I will check out some of the recipes in the book and work them in to the rotation. I'll let you know how it goes.

Flat Belly Diet, Day 4

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

Hmmm.. I like this. I'm not hungry, and I feel really good. I am down about 6 lbs. I will weight tomorrow AM.

I don't miss the salt at all. I can taste the food better I think. It's weird. I DO miss the alcohol. I'm not even going to lie about that LOL...

Tomorrow I will have some wine emoticon

Flat Belly Diet, Day 1

Sunday, May 16, 2010

So breakfast was OK. I didn't feel hungry afterward. Total cereal, soy milk, raw sunflower seeds, and applesauce. The only thing I didn't care for were the raw sunflower seeds. I will roast or toast them myself with no salt. That's allowed, and I'm sure it will taste better.

I am also not eating corn flakes or rice crispies. Total is about the same nutritionally, except it tastes better and has all those vitamins and minerals.

I will stick with my soy milk instead of the lactose-free skim that the diet plan recommends

I will not give up my coffee. I WILL cut down drastically, but why should I punish myself and make me and everyone around me miserable? Not needed. End of story.

The sassy water is great. It tastes so refreshing. Too bad I can't add a little vodka...

Lunch was a pint of grape tomatoes and 4 oz of organic turkey meat. Plus a cheese stick and more sassy water.

It was all OK. Not bad. Nothing exciting, but that's OK.

I'm needing to organize the meals for me and Peter so that we can stick to this. I know planning is the key, and I intend to loose the weight with as little stress to me, Peter, and the rest our our coworkers, family and friends.

I can do this.

I'm Back...

Sunday, May 16, 2010

OK -- So here we go again? I hope not. I am at my wits end. I HAVE to get this weight off, and I can't do the stop/start thing. I am going to try something new. I am following the Flat Belly Diet to get me jump started.

That also requires food-tracking and journaling... with each meal, no less. Here goes.
