3 Days to Go ! ! !

Sunday, March 22, 2009

Today was a test for me and I PASSED! We got up this morning and got ready to go visit my in-laws. Since I am on liquids I had to pack me a bag for today. I brought shakes, soups, crystal lights and a protein bar. And off we went. After traveling for about 2 hours we finally got there. Everyone was excited to see us and us them. Mom and Dad commented right away on how much weight I have lost so far and that I looked great. I whispered to Mom, just wait until after the surgery to see my results. We visited for about an hour. Then Mom was cooking hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill. Then Dwayne's brother and his wife and kids came over to visit. Jimmy also commented on my weight loss. (they do not know about my surgery, unless Mom told them) I got Zach's plate together for him. And then I went out into the living room to sit down and watch TV. Everyone fixed their plates and came out in the living room to eat. Oh my Gosh, EVERYTHING smelled so good. But I behaved, I then went to make my soup for lunch. Tammi (sister-in-law) asked why wasn't I eating what they were? I said I wasn't hungry for that stuff today, I just wanted to have my soup.

The other reason we were going that way to visit was so we could go see Grandpa who was in the hospital. So Dad, Dwayne and I got into their van and headed out 1 1/2 hours ride to the hospital. He looks good, they are still doing a lot of tests to figure out what might be wrong. He is having problems with some of his organs not working properly. We only got to visit for about an hour then we had to drive 1 1/2 hours back to Mom and Dad's house.

Once again we visited for about another 2 hours, then Mom was out on the grill cooking again. This time I made myself a shake. And even though I smelled the food again, this time it wasn't as enticing to me. I enjoyed my chocolate shake. Then about an hour later we headed home. Since it was a 2 hour trip home we didn't want to stay to late.

On the way home my phone rang, it was our friend's Paul and Rose. We had purchased a TV from their kids and they had it in their SUV. They wanted to know if we were going to be home soon so they could bring it over to our house. That way Paul and Dwayne could carry it into our house. It is a lot bigger than I thought it would be. Unfortunately since we were gone all day when we got home before they came over we were scrambling to get the house picked up a little before they got there. We had been doing laundry Saturday and didn't get a chance to put it all away. It was a hilarious sight if anyone had been watching us. We no sooner got it put away and they pulled up. So the boy's carried in the TV and had to put it on our dining room table until we figure out what we are going to do with it.

Then we started the shower process.......now finally all the kids are in bed (Dwayne included, lol) and I get a chance to log into Spark People to do my daily blog. Or as Dwayne calls it, "My daily fix !" .....lol

Well since I am almost done with my daily blog, I am totally exhausted and it is almost 10:30 I think I will also call it a night. I have to get some rest before I have to start tomorrow all over again. But this time I have to get up at 4 am, no time to sleep in.

Take Care and God Bless ! ! !

4 Days to Go ! ! !

Saturday, March 21, 2009

I think it is harder doing this liquid diet at home then it is at work. At least at work I have work to distract me. At home I am very tempted to eat something. It took a lot of will power not to eat anything today. I was drinking, drinking, and more drinking today. I was going to eat some sunflower seeds today. The ones in the shells. But Dwayne talked me out of it. By the end of the day today I was going nuts........I started cooking dinner for the troops but told Dwayne he had to finish. It is just to temping to taste as you are cooking. He totally understood and finished cooking with no complaints.

So here I am again killing time until I try to go to sleep again. Last night I fell asleep on the couch. Tomorrow we are going to visit my in-laws. I will need to pack my shakes, soups and take plenty of clear liquids to last the whole day. I doubt I will sit at the table for lunch or dinner. I think I will just sit in the living room. I think it would be weird to sit at table and just watch everyone eat. Plus that would be torture. Wish me luck.

Well that is all for tonight. Take Care and God Bless ! ! !

The big day is just around the corner, you can do it. I'm so excited for you! March 25th is my 4 month anniversary date of my surgery (Nov. 25th!) It seems like just yesterday, yet an eternity ago at the same time. Time goes by fast and the weight just melts off, it is amazing! You are going to do great, I'll be praying for you.

5 Days to Go ! ! !

Friday, March 20, 2009

I had to go to the hospital to have my final blood work done this morning. I also had to answer a lot of questions about my health and preferences. Linda explained to me pretty much everything that would happen from the time I arrived to the time I leave the hospital. It was just basic information. She also wanted to make sure that I knew I was going to have a private room after surgery. Which I thought was pretty common anyway. I am still very excited......another day down.

After I had my blood work done I went into work. I was feeling really drained today. I am not sleeping as much as I should be. I am just trying to get everything ready for when I will be off work. I couldn't stay focused at work today. 2 more days of work left before my surgery. I was glad it was Friday because we were a little slower and with not having much energy it helped. For the first time in a long time I was counting down the time so I could go home.

I thought I would be able to rest some when I got home, but wrong again. I had to get dinner together for Dwayne and the kids. The dishes always seem to multiply in the sink. Then I unloaded and loaded the dishwasher. Then came the baths and showers. I finally got to sit down for a minute so I decided to log on and check out what is happening on Spark People. I needed to enter my daily blog. Today's seems like it is boring, but I am just trying to keep a journal of my daily thoughts and happenings.

Off to bed now, finally......

Take care and God Bless ! ! !

6 Days to Go ! ! !

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Today I was moody, fine one minute, then pissy the next. This is probably because I am having a little bit of trouble sleeping at night. So I stay up either on the computer or watching TV until I am so exhausted I don't have a choice but sleep.

I spoke to my mom and dad again today. They seemed really interested in how my liquid diet was going. I was afraid to tell them that I had lost weight because the last time I did my mom said are you sure you really want to have the surgery you are doing so well on your own. But I explained to her then that I have been yo yo dieting for the last 15 or so years and it hasn't worked for me yet. I need to do this for me. I need this tool to help me succeed for once in my life. I think she understand. She might not agree but they are both very supportive. I am so glad that I told them. I need to surround myself with positive people right now.

Tonight we went to the advanced class of water aerobics. It was actually pretty fun and exhilarating. I was very proud of myself I made it through the whole class without stopping to break. I kept up with everyone else. When we first got there we had to put these flotation devices on. It went around the lower part of my back to help us float while we were doing the exercises in the deep end. I was afraid that I wouldn't get it around my huge waist, they had extra large sizes and I squeezed myself into a large size. They said it would loosen up some after we got in the water. And it did. I am so glad that I went. Now I have found some exercise that I truly enjoy. We are going to try to go 2 or 3 times a week until my surgery. Then continue after I heal.

Well I just realized that it after 10 and I have to get up at 4 am. Take my son to day care then drive 1 hour to the hospital. I am having blood work done. The last test I have to take (I hope) before my surgery. I hope all comes back ok so I can proceed with my surgery Wednesday.

Well that is it for tonight.

Take Care and God Bless ! ! !

    Hi Kat,
I'm so happy for you that you did so good in the water emoticon emoticon

I went to one of our support group meetings tonight. The more I hear about how wonderful the others are doing the less worried I am. They have 2 meetings a month. This month it was on exercising. The teacher use to teach water aerobics and really stressed how wonderful that was. Even better than some of the other forms.

Hard to believe it's the 20th tomorrow. Just 5 days to go!!! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

7 Days to Go ! ! !

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

Today was a little bit of a struggle for me. I was busy at work and forgot to take some of my vitamins. So I played catch up the rest of the day to get them in. And today for some reason no matter what I drank (protein shake, soup, broth, or crystal light) I didn't feel full. I was craving food (or so I had myself thinking). I decided to take my Dietitian Julie's advice. I started chewing some gum. I think I just has to psych myself out because after that I was fine.

Update on walk last night. Dwayne, Zach, Buddy (dog), Sasha (dog) and I went for a walk last night. It was a very nice day, weather was nice, sun was out, temp was in the high 60's so perfect for walking. We decided to walk towards the lake instead of around the block. After a while we decided to head back to the house. When I got home I decided to get online and log my exercise. When I got on the internet I saw a new blog entry from Sparkguy. He was telling us about a new feature under fitness it was new fitness maps. So I went to the link and mapped out where we had just walked. And to my surprise we had walked a mile. Okay that was not around my block for 3 miles as I had planned but I think that was a good start considering I usually don't do much exercise. But I am working on that. Not making excuses but I have some other health issues that somewhat limit (only currently) my exercise. I have a pinched nerve in my left thigh and a heel spur on my right foot. That is why I registered for water aerobics, see next paragraph. I felt that would have less impact on my thigh and heel but I could still get in a good work out.

I had registered for water aerobics on the 9th for beginner's classes. That night was our first class. I was going with a dear friend of mine her name is Joni. We were to go ever Monday night at 6. Unfortunately I did not make it to the class on the 16th because of my Support Group Meeting. So we are going to make it up tomorrow night. We are both a little apprehensive about that class because it is the intermediate class in the deep end of the pool. But we are going to try it to make up for missing Monday. Wish us luck, I think we will be fine.

That's all for now.

Take Care, and God Bless ! ! !

Kat
