8 Colors of Fitness & Your Fitness Personality

This week's challenge is regarding your personality traits which can tell you a lot about what kind of fitness routine will work best for you. I took an 8 minute color quiz and found out that I am Green... Here is a link to the quiz.. the8colors.com/HTML-QUIZ.asp

Greens are highly attuned to and observant of the physical world around them. Their profound attention to detail and their outstanding orienting skills influence all aspects of what they do and when they do it. Minimalists at heart, their demeanor is understated, quiet, and unobtrusive.. In groups, Greens tend toward the background, preferring others to take the lead in social interactions.. ( that is me to a tee)

With their reserved demeanor, they are quite observers of the physical world. They prefer to do outdoors or through activities of daily living, such as yard maintenance, parking a mile from their office, or using the stairs instead of elevators.

Too much inside time is stressful for Greens. Getting outside gives them an opportunity to clear their minds and wrestle with the energizing and calming challenges of nature. Almost any outdoor environment will do.

Greens are practical & analytical. They will make use of a personal trainer who challenges them, holds them accountable, and doesn't talk too much.. (I definitely agree with this)

So tonight my mother & I will be participating in a 8 week walking training program that leads up to a 5k in June. I am looking forward to having fun and having a positive experience.

    That was awesome, thanks so much for sharing that. I'm a Red. I just skimmed my results and I had to laugh when I saw this statement "For Reds, “be prepared” is not a simple maxim; it’s a way of life. The trunk of their cars may look like a sports-equipment swap meet. They prefer having their gear at the ready to take advantage of any opportunity which may arise."

I've got an exercise ball, a balance board, resistance bands, a spare pair of clothing and shoes, 5, 8 and 10 lb weights in the back of my Jeep! LOL

Week 3 Spring into Action Vision Board

This week we were to create a vision board.
For me this weight loss journey has been a mind game. Sometimes I am in it sometimes I could care less..I know foremost that I can do this with Christ strength but I have to make the first move by making the right choices and to continue to stay focus and determined.

    Girl - you need to sign up for a 5k and then have that as part of your inspiration - something to look forward to. Even if you start out walking which is how I trained for my first one. And it got me in good shape to go to the next level.

SASS Wk1 Challenge

SASS goals: I am committing to work up to 5 days a week for 30 minutes. For me I have to find activities that are fun and doable. I am going to start taking advantage of the classes at the Y and see what I can come up as good fit.

My goals for March is to consistenly track my food and to go back to the basics of measuring my food instead of guesstimatting.

Motivate!

Motivate!
Week 1-Blog about what motivates you or what brought you to Spark. For me it has to be health reasons. Last season I was on the “unofficial list” of the Done Girl’s Inspire Challenge. And I will tell you that did not work for me due to sitting on the side and not being actively involved in the challenges and not stepping on the scales. When a slot became available on my Sunny Gal team, I was asked to come back and when I stepped on the scale.. Whoa what a surprise. I was 7lbs up from my highest weight. At the time I knew that I had to regroup and get my mind into the game and stop pussy footing around. So I decided on the Saturday before Labor Day I would go back to WW because I honestly need a structure and accountability at the scale and I do love the meetings. When I weighed in I weighed at 259 which literally shocked me to the core. That particular day I was experiencing excruciating back and leg pain. I lay in the bed that weekend with heating pads and ice packs and popping ibuprofen which didn’t help. I knew the old me would have said forget this I can’t work out. By Monday, I was feeling a bit better but took it slowly.. I couldn’t do the elliptical neither the treadmill. I opted for the recumbent bike which I never felt I got anything out of. But I knew that if I just did 20 to 30 minutes and diligently tracked what I ate, I would have success at the scale. I pushed along and worked my way up to a bike that is similar to a spinning bike which I currently like. Anyway, last week I weighed in at 241 and have lost a total of 18lbs thus far. I know that the back pain and leg pain was brought on by excess weight and I certaintly do not want to go back to that feeling.

MAIN CHALLENGE: There are TONS of informative blogs and dailyspark posts on this website that are really useful - for more than just 3 sparkpoints! ;) This week, read 3 spark articles and share something you have learned from them with your team for 30 points



Finding Time for Healthy Living is a great article that emphasize that one needs time to focus on themselves in this new healthy lifestyle. . This article shows how you can create more time for healthy living by planning meals and having nutritious foods available and making wise choices when eating out. Easier said than done but I am a work in progress. The article also talked about being proactive with fitting in movement and exercise. Include exercise while watching television. At work if possible,ake the steps rather than the elevator or use the restroom on another floor . Stress reduction & sleep also are key to self-care and a healthy lifestyle. Practice deep breathing exercises, daily meditation or a weekly massage can help with your healthy lifestyle.


Using Exercise to Relieve Depression is an informative spark article that suggest that exercise may help along with a treatment plan of depression. Exercise can help you focus on something else for a little while. Exercise may help with symptoms.

Dieting with a Positive Twist is a short article that simply states getting healthy is something to enjoy, not to detest. Something that shoud not be looked as a chore, it’s something that can be a fun and great experience. A new way of living and not a fad lifestyle.
