First of all, I can't believe that this year is over. It went by so unbelievably fast. All in all, it was a good year. I began the year being the biggest I've ever been at 158 pounds, and I'm ending the year being the smallest I've ever been at 118 pounds.
I've learned a lot about myself this year, and I realized that I'm a lot stronger than I thought I was, both physically and mentally. I'm more confident, I have a positive attitude and overall I feel great, and I'm going to start 2011 feeling great, which is something I've never been able to do.
I finally declared my major (studio art with a concentration in photography), and even though I still don't know what I want to do after college, declaring my major is still a step in the right direction.
This year I also met my boyfriend, the love of my life. He's wonderful and I couldn't be happier.
I'm definitely looking forward to 2011. My goals for this year areeee...
1. Maintaining my weight (and maybe losing a few more pounds)
2. Toning up so I look good in the bikini I bought last night as part of my motivation to keep the weight off

3. Run my first 5k (keep in mind that I am NOT a runner!)

I made chili for dinner. Sooooo good. I love cooking.
I can't believe that tomorrow is December 31. So crazy. It was definitely a good year, but I'm looking forward to 2011!

Hung out with the boyfriend this morning before he went to work, had a nice long workout this afternoon, babysat little Austin (even though he was sick and cranky...poor baby) and then I was lazy for the rest of the night. And now I'm sleepy so I'm going to lay down and watch TV or read. Goooooodnight everyone

The whole family came to my house Christmas Eve. It was a lot of fun and it was good to see everybody. I got lots of good stuff for Christmas, and then yesterday my boyfriend, sister and I went shopping. Overall it was a good weekend and I'm sad that it had to come to an end. I did eat a TON though. Ugh, I felt so disgusting. But I got on the scale this morning and I weighed in at 119, so no big deal. I did Tae Bo for an hour so I burned off plenty of calories. Woohoo.

I began my weight loss journey in February 2010 after my [obese] grandfather told me I was too heavy. I was mad at first, then I realized that he was right. I was at my heaviest weight, 158 pounds (and I am only five feet tall) so I was considered borderline obese according to my BMI, which was 29.9. I began working out and eating better, and while it took a long time (7 months to lose 30 pounds; 10 months to lose 40 pounds) I finally lost a total of 40 pounds.
I learned a lot within the past ten months. Ever since I was in my early teens I wanted to be more fit and lose weight, but I gave up easily because I got discouraged very quickly. This time was different. I was determined to lose weight and be healthier. I learned that one bad day is not the end of the world, and I was able to pick myself back up and continue my healthier lifestyle. I learned that my favorite tasty, fattening foods do not make me as happy as reaching a weight loss goal. I learned that working out can be enjoyable, and is beneficial for my body and mind. I learned how to cook healthy meals, and I tried new healthy foods, which I now love and cook on a regular basis. Not only did I learn how to eat better, but most importantly I learned that I am a lot stronger than I thought - physically, mentally, and emotionally.
I'm happy that I discovered this website a few years ago, and that I was able to use it to help me lose weight this year. I thank everyone who has encouraged me to not give up and to keep pushing myself throughout this year. I love this place!
