Resolutions for 2013: NO RESOLUTIONS

Thursday, January 03, 2013

This year I will be a "WORK IN PROGRESS".

I feel resolutions do me more harm than good. So this year, I plan to set goals - small and achievable and make committments to myself for myself.

I FINALLY made 2012 my year to achieve weight loss success. Past years were start/stop, try-try again. Last year, I found fun in working out and I reaped all the rewards of a slimmer body. It was a great year and I accomplished alot.

So this year, a few of my goals are the following:
> Continue to lose "fat".
I am a size 2-4 and weigh 126lbs and I can still pinch more than an inch. This continues to baffle me. By the end of the year, I make a commitment to myself that this will NOT be an issue.

> Continue to be a non-smoker.
I smoked just a few cigs a day throughout the year but even 1 is bad. I am 8 weeks strong at quitting.

> Never stop trying to eat better.
I am very bad in this area (which is probably why I can pinch more than an inch). My downfall is not bad eating it is just eating period. I know I need the fruits/vegs, etc and I have good intentions but then the produce and fruits at the grocery store are not the greatest and I buy, start off the week good then get waylaid 1/2 way through and it all goes to rot.

> Run 10 miles.
I currently can run a 5K with no problems. I am close to being able to run 5 miles straight. My goal by the end of the year is to run 10 miles. I don't enjoy running so this will be a challenge for me.

> Enjoy life - experience new things.
I did a lot of things last year that I hadn't done before. Also things that I hadn't done in a long time. I will never let this get away from me again.

These are just a few to start. The biggest thing is to never quit.... I need to get up every morning with the mindset that "I matter" and what path will I go down today for me!

2012 was your year. You set goals and you accomplished them. Think of how many people fail to meet 1 goal, yet you met multiple (some very hard) goals! I know you can meet every goal you have set for '13. I, too, share the same philosophy that resolutions are not generally achieved, goals are so much better. Yes, you do matter, and you are right in your plan to do this for you.

Another Program Finished.

"WOOT WOOT WOOT" Go me!!! Finished INSANITY program 11/1/12

“Insanity” is designed to transform you into a physical specimen so ripped you are destined to be america's next supermodel!
So, what is Insanity all about? It’s 60 Days of your worst physical nightmare.

Insanity calls itself “Max Interval Training”. That’s probably code for saying it was developed using illegal human testing in Quantanamo Bay. It is CARDIO to the max. The cardio is combined with plyometrics, pushups and squats. There is no standing around time. No playful chatter. It seems Shaun T hates all of humanity and wants us to die drowning in our own sweat. This workout series is his evil means of accomplishing that task.

So was it worth it? Hell yes. But be warned…if you’re just starting to get in shape then proceed with caution. However, if you’re in reasonable shape and wanting to prepare for a marathon, climbing Mount Everest, or to outrun a bear, then this is it. It is addictive suffering and once you start seeing the results there is no going back. I wished for death afterwards. Its really draining but it makes you feel so good if you can make it through the whole thing without stopping halfway.

Drumroll…the results! I am very, very happy with the AB definition is seeing impressive results, down a pants size and more toned than in the beginning. I will NOT be doing this program again but glad I did it and FINISHED!

On to the next challenge!

No pills, no potions, just hard work.

Coincidentally, some teammates and I were making comments on this very matter the last couple days. So much information out there, promises, hypes..... When I ran across this, it is exactly true.

The Original (and ONLY) FAT Reducer.
by Shawn Phillips

Just when you think you've tried everything...

There's this.... Okay, maybe not this gadget but there's always a new pill, program or diet strategy.

What are you really buying... (see below)

That's really it. Right. It's simply H-O-P-E.

Hope for a better future, hope for a brighter day. Hope for more love, joy and happiness.

Sure, six packs abs would be nice but come on... what do we really want but to feel like
we matter, like we have a chance, like we're gonna win one.

Good Golly I love HOPE and the human spirit.

The damned thing is that this HOPE is also a weakness--or an opening for others who'll
use your hope to fulfill theirs.

They HOPE you buy the HOPE they are selling.

And you know, some times we all do. And when we do, we may get a good surge of hopeful
energy only to find ourselves without hope...

Hope Isn't Out There...

May I take this moment to remind you of what you already know... deep down... Hope
and all the potential that exists to achieve all that you can dream isn't out there.... It's IN HERE. It's inside you. It's your spirit, your heart, your passion... it just needs a spark
to light it some times...

And let's face it, that spark comes from seeing the light in others, in connection, in stories of
others who are living thier purpose.

When you need a lift, when you need a spark, skip the pills, forget the new diet book and
reach out and lend a hand.

Nothing picks up our own spirit like sharing your Strength, light and love with another.

And if they need some hope, or help in getting thier Mojo back... tell them what you
know is true:

"Work the basics. Get back to the fundamentals."
- Set a clear, simple Goal

- Eat clean, healthy food

- Train with intention and intensity

- Journal your positive thoughts

- Clear your mind and focus

It's what works. Now. Always has. Always will.

    Great Article, Kris.
Thanks so much for posting it.

It is definitely TRUE, TRUE, TRUE.

The BASICS are the only way to go.
I'm grateful that there are so many options as far as 'method' goes.
I'd be S.O.L. if, say - Running was the only 'way' to go.
I am learning that what works for me -- works for me.
I don't need to keep trying new things.
Just stick with the basics.

Great post.
