I volunteer at a Thrift Store on saturdays. Just something I always wanted to do and now that the kids are on their own for the most part, I can.
This work involves a lot of standing, bending, and lifting. My Monday through Friday job has me working in an office setting, so extended periods of standing, bending, and lifting are things I'm not really used to.
After working for two hours today it dawned on me, this might very well be what ultimately sent my back over the edge a little more than a month ago. Actually, I'm fairly positive.
Now that I've identified the culprit, I will be extra careful when working my volunteer job.
My 100 Day Challenge has been put on hold temporarily during the final days of wedding preparations and since. I'll pick that back up starting tomorrow.
Wedding was beautiful. I posted a couple of pics on my page. (The out of place looking dude is my son. We are hopeful that he, too, will grow up eventually.)
At work, we've managed to make it through our first month on the new operating system. The newness and unfamiliarity set us all back, and everyone of us is behind in our work, which, on top of an already stressful job, plagued my many deadlines, makes life double-stressful.
With only one week to go until my oh so deserved vacation, I can't see any way to catch up to where I would be comfortable leaving. Well, I guess I'll do what I can, and while I'm gone they'll just have to deal with the fallout. As will I when I get back :) There just never seems to be a good time to get away.
But get away I must. I desperately need a change of scenery and a break from the rat race. Flights are booked, accommodations secured, and I just printed out my train ticket. It's starting to get exciting.

Still on track with my water and exercise. I'm 22/100 on both.
Kind of shifted focus away from the no TV/WiFi portion on my challenge. No need to inflict unnecessary stress.
My daughter is getting married next Saturday. I have my dress, I have my shoes, I have my hair- and make-up lady booked, I'm in good shape there.
(I never wear make-up, that's why I need a make-up lady :))
I just realized a couple of days ago that this is the first time in forever, that I don't need to stress about losing weight for an event. I'm so there! This is awesome!
Work is definitely my #1 stressor at this time. Last week I refused an assignment outright, 'cause I was so overwhelmed I could not see straight. Not exactly a good career move, but I really need to hang on to my last thread of sanity.
Desperately need to get out of the rat race for a while, so I went ahead and booked a vacation. We're going to Europe middle of next month.
DD & new son in law are taking a Mediterranean cruise and will visit my parents afterwards. Thought it would be great fun to surprise them and meet them there.
DS even wanted to go, which surprised me, but of course I'm glad. Our first stop will be Vienna. I have never been there and always wanted to go. We'll visit a customer and good friend of mine, and they offered to show us around. Should be great fun!
We'll then take the train into Germany straight to my home town. I'm really excited to be able to get out of town for a while.
My back is on the mend. Still a bit tight, but definitely better. I'll be back at the gym next week. But, as I posted in my status just now, today I'm eating chocolate and watching TV - 'cause I can.

Almost 1/5th of the way in my 100 Day Challenge.
Finally figured out how to get my water in, at least during the week, and it's going great.
I'm still banned from exercising due to my back problem. I am allowed to stretch (yeah...), and I'm continuing my pushup and pull up routine.
The past few weeks at work have been very stressful, and not being able to get my workouts in is not at all helpful.
Back is slightly feeling better today, I've been doing therapy all week.
Next week I WILL start back up with easy yoga.

Between my challenge exercises (pushups and pull ups) and my rehab exercises for my back (pelvis lifts and the like), I now total 10 activity minutes a day.
Pretty weak for somebody whose general goal is to hit 1000 minutes a month, but I do what I can. I'm still aiming for at least 500, so I can keep my 25-month streak alive.
Struggling with water today. Didn't drink any during the day today. So when I came home tonight I still had 40 oz. left to go. Still working on the last 20, but it will get done.
Chiropractor tomorrow. Maybe he'll be able to snap me back into place.

Here it is Sunday night again; on the threshold of another busy week.
I'm on track with my challenges, just finishing up the last of my water.
Tired, nothing in my brain tonight.
“Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.”
