My 100 Day Challenge: Day 11

Thursday, February 09, 2012

I feel like I'm beginning to sound like a broken record - still in pain.
Called my doc today and decided that it might be a good idea to do a couple of physical therapy sessions. Hey, here is something new! Have never done that before. My appointment is on Friday morning.

Still on track with my exercises and currently on my last cup of water.

I chose my third challenge point, minimizing my WiFi exposure by not sleeping with my iPad on, right next to my head, because I think this increased exposure might be too close for comfort.

There is so much conflicting info out there as to whether WiFi exposure poses a health threat in the long run, how much WiFi exposure we can take without suffering ill effects, or if it even matters at all.

While there is no escape from WiFi, I believe it's probably a good thing to minimize exposure whenever possible as a 'better safe than sorry' precaution.

It's a hot topic really, but I can't seem to find any proof whether for or against.

What are your thoughts?

Everything that tastes good or is fun will kill you. Moderation is key. How's that for totally unhelpful?

Seems like keeping your Ipad next to you while you sleep would be distracting. If it must be on for some reason, why not just put it on your dresser or desk or somewhere away from you? Hope you figure it out and also hope you get relief from your pain. It is exciting and motivating following your commitment to your plan despite the physical limitations. -- Lou

I had heard that battery charging can cause damage, cell phones too, but wi fi? Like in our homes? First I have heard of it. I suppose I don't have any thoughts since I did not even know about it. But I am looking it up.

I have NEVER heard of WiFi being a health hazard! This is the very first I've ever heard of that. What are you talking about? WiFi is everywhere these days, it seems! emoticon

My 100 Day Challenge: Day 10

Wednesday, February 08, 2012

I think things are finally starting to look up. While I was dragging still this morning, unable to even get my socks on, I started feeling better about mid afternoon. Good enough, in fact, that I went to yoga tonight, and did pretty well, considering. Looks like the PITA is slowly going away.

As for my challenge: I find myself struggling to get my 40 oz of water in. I do it every day, but often I end up downing 3 cups all at once at the end of the day. Need to get that spaced out a little bit better. But, I have 90 days left to get it right.

As for my fun exercises, while the PITA still makes it hard to do jacks, I manage, and 10 pushups are no problem either (and no, I don't do girl pushups!), but I'm already starting to struggle on my reverse pull ups. This will get very interesting indeed, as the days progress and I'm very curious to see how far I can push, and more importantly, how much I'll be able to improve.

TV/WiFi - so far a bust! It just lulls me to sleep so beautifully :)

This week I'm tracking my food, working on keeping it between 1200 and 1700 calories & will fine-tune after the next weigh-in this upcoming Sunday.

That's all folks.
Logging off.

Do you have access to a Gravitron type machine? Takes some of your weight so you can do more pull ups. Or in my case, any. Might help you get through the 100. Good luck.

It is nice reading that you're still on track, finding what you can and can not do and working around the pain. Just one question: Is a reverse pull-up the same as a chin-up? Hang in there. -- Lou

I have 16 oz water cups. I drink one of those for each meal plus one before bed. Sometimes I kind of have to make myself sit and do it, but mostly it's easy because my body is used to it now. Maybe you could do something like that, like a 16 oz glass of water for breakfast and dinner and an 8 oz glass before bed. I think if you pick certain times to drink certain amounts, then stick with that, it'll become second nature.

Anyway, sounds like you are doing pretty great! Have a good day! :-)

I just love it that you're blogging more often! emoticon

I do that with my water, too! And when I drink all that water that late in the day, I have to keep getting up to pee all night long! emoticon

I hope my weigh in will lose this one stubborn pound I've been trying to get off! We can DO it! Let's go! emoticon

Keep on going in the right direction. It will all
come together nicely. I'm working on my calorie
intake also and getting more exercise.

Happy Wednesday

I think I missed the reason why you're not using TV to fall asleep. I could not fall asleep easily without it. I put on the sleep timer and the thing shuts off sometime after I fall asleep. It's perfect.

My 100 Day Challenge: Day 9 & Backache update

Monday, February 06, 2012

Okay, I'm not a runner, but I guess I might as well start now. Today's diagnosis: A severe gluteus maximus injury (runners seem to be at risk for this), a very painful strain in my back/bum muscle, and it hurts like h3ll. My shot so far brought little relief; I'll be taking a muscle relaxer before bed and hope that I can get up okay in the morning.

I'll be looking into physical therapy unless I see some kind of relief by midweek.
Patience, yes, patience, this will take many weeks to heal. Hard to do if it keeps me from my workouts.

And, weird, but now that I know what it is, I feel sorry for myself.

Alright, enough boohoo.

For my 100 Day Challenge:
* Did my exercises (half jacks again), but luckily my injury will let me do pushups and reverse pull ups.
* Water, I'm in the ballpark with that today as well.
* No TV/WiFi, I fail again.

For my Maintenance Challenge:
I weighed in at the high end of my allowable range yesterday, which means I'm back to tracking my food again. Also, with being out of commission as far as workouts go, I have to be extra careful with my food intake.

Bummer, bummer & bummer!!!
Soldiering on.

You're allowed a pity party. But make it a short party and then get back to it. Good luck.

I'm sorry about your injury! I hope you heal quickly. Working on improving your food intake might help you feel better about being mostly laid up as far as exercise goes. We can always stand to improve what we are eating. Get well soon!

I'm happy to learn I'm not the only pain in the butt around here, seems you've found another.

Injuries just plain suck. I get all boo-hoo about it myself. I think, for once, it's not my mind tricking me out of doing the right thing, I'm ready to do it and then bam, injury derails the effort. Ruins the plans. I totally get the boo-hoo. You're doing the right thing though.

My 100 Day Challenge: Day 8

Sunday, February 05, 2012

Well, I guess my back totally b.s.-ed me yesterday. I honestly thought there was some improvement. So today it's worse than it's been all week. I'll be seeing my doctor tomorrow.

As far as my challenge goes:
1. Water - yes!
2. Mini workout - yes! (Yes, I did the jacks - I'm really stubborn...)
3. No TV/WiFi - I failed! Fell asleep with my Ipad on last night. Well, that's still 6 out of 7. This week I'll shoot for 7/7.

Ok, and here is the new hairdo. (Just remember, you're looking at the hair, not the face :))

My 100 Day Challenge: Day 7

Saturday, February 04, 2012

All 3 goals met today.

Spend 2-1/2 hours at the hairdresser's today and enjoyed every minute. Complete downtime. Got highlights and a new do & love it. If I wouldn't take such incredibly bad pictures, and I mean really bad (unless it's a snapshot), I'd post one :)
Well, maybe later.

Have a great Sunday, everyone.
