It is the greatest feeling when every pair of pants you own fit with just enough room to spare to make you feel like a million bucks.
You ponder whether you should now go for the next smaller size, but then it hits you, you have arrived.
After years of hard work, and not so hard work, of being on task, and totally off track, of falling, getting up, losing, gaining, standing still, and wanting to run head first into a wall, you finally realize that you are at the finish line.
You look in the mirror and like what you see; for the first time in a long time.
And then you realize that in reality you have been at your current weight for months, and that finally your head has caught up, and you can now see the real you.
Yes, there is of course always room for improvement, and those abs can definitely profit from ongoing core training, and those arms need to continue lifting weights, and Zumba will help slim and shape those thighs.
But all that has nothing at all to do with losing more weight: you're 5'5", weigh in at 129 lbs, are not 20 any more, can fit into a size 4 but prefer the roominess of a size 6.
The mind is rigid, slow, and stubborn and can greatly distort your body image. Once your head/mind catches up to reality this battle is won.
But, maintenance definitely does not mean that you've figured it all out...
There are still so many things to work on and fine-tune.
My focus for November 2011:
Get 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day. This continues to be a challenge.
1000 fitness minutes: Zumba, Kwando, Strength, Yoga.
At least 7 hours of sleep every night.
Cultivate my friendships (and don't be such a hermit).
Let go! Get out there and live, and laugh, and enjoy.
