Day 4 begins
No, I am not going to write every day;-) but right now I need to put in words my recommittment to my goal.
Last night was difficult because I was actually HUNGRY about 8pm. That is usually around the time when snacking sets in from boredom but hunger-how strange. Anyway, 1 of the Yoplait light yogurts staved off hunger and I stuck to my guns.
So begins Day 4-just completed my 1.73 mile walk and heading out for a 45 minute (hopefully) bike ride.

    Nothing wrong with blogging every day. It's no different then keeping a journal and it really helps to do that. I figure I'm writing my blog for me and if someone reads just never know who you might inspire besides yourself. See how true this is.....because you decided to blog have inspired me. THANK YOU.     It is good to blog - even if it's not daily- maybe weekly as it forces you to think about where you're at and allows you to re-affirm your focus and make changes as you need to while you keep moving toward your goal.

And of course, to get the support and encouragement you may need - from your SP Friends!

What is it about January 1st of the year one is turning 60?
In the year from December 2006 to 2007 I lost 99 pounds, became fit and had my doctor absolutely thrilled with all my tests. Since then I have put back about 60 of those hard-to-lose pounds, quit the gym and generally NOT felt so good. I have struggled with trying to get my mind-set back into the 'I can do it mode'.
So, is this the year I get myself back into being more healthy? I hope so-day three and counting.

    I know it is a struggle one we all share. I keep saying it's going to be my year. This year I'm turning 50, it's amazing when we were kids you thought 50 was old. It's really not. I need to make this my year. We can do it.

    It is NEVER too late to start fresh and recommit! YOU can do this, we all know that no one else is going to do it for us so we just have to do it for ourselves. Good luck to you and lean on those who support you as necessary.

Yoga?Pickleball?Tennis? ME?

and all in one day too!

February 21 should be a date to go down in, well if not infamy, my personal history anyway. After months of declaring I would get more active I decide to do it all in one day emoticon emoticon

But let me start a little further back in time, about three weeks ago I found myself in a Walking Company store and Al persuaded me to try their foot imaging process. The clerk immediately returned with these inserts and between her and Al I reluctantly purchased them thinking it was a load of HOOEY. I am ecstatic to say it was me that was full of Hooey. For the first time in months my feet don't hurt! And that brings me back to yesterday.

After waiting weeks for the weather to warm up enough, I began my day in the pool to try out my new White Tiger Yoga Tropical Water Fitness gloves and program. I worked through the exercises and was pleased at how I could feel the water resistance working. It took about 1/2 hour so I got in a couple of laps swimming as well to bring it to a total of 45 minutes. I felt great, renewed.

Then the friends we had recently met brought us to the Pickleball Court. If you have never played this sport (it is brand new to me) here is a link We were having so much fun, and our friends were in such good shape Al and I were reluctant to admit we were tiring. Eventually, after an hour, we did and then Jean offered to hit some tennis balls to me as I had foolishly agreed to learning that sport a couple of days before. By the time Al and I cried a serious Uncle, we had been going for a good 50 minutes!

So, in the evening I was popping Advil and Al (who had played a round of golf in the morning) dragged himself to the hot tub.

Yes, I hurt but this time in a good way. I should only have twinges by Tuesday when our friends want to meet us on the court again!

I must say I did take a look to see what this was ... sounded naughty !! emoticon

Looks like it would be a lot of fun but tiring given it seems you would be moving like mad on that sized court.

    Wow! I'm very impressed!

I live in England and have never heard of the gloves so I just had a quick look online and they look really good. I can't find them to buy in the UK though. Guess I'll have to stay out of the pool! lol

Just reading my last blog-March last year and it is depressing to think here I am still-trying to do it but even heavier!

But Saturday I attended a Spark People in Ontario Meet and Greet. There were nine of us there and we all ordered the salad emoticon. What a great group of people and I came away feeling more inspired, more hopeful about getting back on track. I was even back in the gym today!

So, as to the journey; I took a detour but have hopefully found the right road again.

    I agree with Silverback - and I'm trying to figure out a way to setup a regular Ottawa Meeting Group so stay tuned... trying to sort it as I'm inspired too! What an amazing group of great people.

The exchanges we had in such a short meeting, recipes, ideas... well I'm re-inspired as well!

    Did you walk today? Get those krazzyleggs moving? I didn't manage to walk in this morning, but I did walk home! I imagine tomorrow will be similar. I have a test in the morning (for a job I applied for), and don't want to arrive all sweaty, but can definitely enjoy the walk home if it's not too hot. Oh! And I barely got rained on during my walk home on Saturday - woohoo! I'm sure I walked off my salad ;-)

Well I'm glad to hear the meet and greet had such a positive impact. It would be hard not to be impressed with the group of people that showed up. Such a diverse group with varied backgrounds and experiences.

Maybe we need a meet and greet on a more regular basis!

I'm Back-I Hope!

It has been such a very tough time, eating out of control most days and lack of enthusiasm with the idea of exercise! What has happened to me???The past month has pretty much involved a feeding frenzy and the weight has been reflecting it. I had put back 11 pounds from my lowest. the past couple of days has knocked that back but I am still up 8.6 pounds! Why??? Why??

What is it about this weight that I seem to want to hold on to?

I want to lose that 20 pounds! I need to lose that 20 pounds! I MUST lose that 20 pounds!

The journey is NOT over! The journey to good health continues!

    thanks for the comment on my blog. How was your vacation? So glad you were able to check in while away.
Don't be so hard on yourself about the lbs gained. That's what vacations do to us. they make us want to eat badly and not exercise much. You deserved the time off and you still got your exercise and ate ok, not too badly. Just move on from this moment forward. those 8 lbs will be gone in no time and you know it! you can do this, nothing will stop you now! kim
