Oh, love your goals and I can't wait to tune in and see what sexy new look your toes will be sporting every month - you've got to post photos!

I love audio books too but don't want to have to keep buying them. So I bought an MP3 player so I can check audio books out from the library, rip them to my computer and download to the MP3 player. Right now I've got five new choices on my player. Fun to listen as I clean house - and I often listen at night when I can't sleep.

I'd love to hear what you're listening to - always in the market for a good listen!

My pick is 4 & 5, they look more busy.

Although I live in Florida, the palm tree and golfer sweaters should have a little more stuff on them to make them ugly.

OK, I HAVE to go with # 8. It just screams 90's and I have about 5 or 6 of those penguins stuffed around my house. It so resembles the penguins Mervyn's used for several years in their Christmas merchandizing. LOL! Love the Palm tree as well. It just screams Azuita!

hmmmm.... is the point of the party to wear the Most! ugly sweater, or the one that is most gorgeous but will still technically qualify as an "ugly" sweater???

yep, it makes a diff!... 'cept i love ALL yours, LOL so i'm NO help! Sorry!

i like best a tie between 2 & 3; i'd wear either of those every day! lol

i think the ones i'd feel less! purty in are: 7 & 8; 7 has white on the bottom, which will expand!! my middle, n' 8 is very!!! checkerboard-boxy, which actually is ...FABULOUS, but i might not look svelte in it!

hope this helps a TEENSY bit! lol !

Put the coffee pot on please and I'll be right over. Is Nan there yet? So what kind of dinner IS it? I mean is it your golf group? Then the answer is easy! I LOVE #2 but to me that is one I'd wear for a WINTER sweater rather than CHRISTMAS (yes, I'm THAT Type A Karen). I absolutely LOVE #3 and if we were still living in San Diego or Florida (or somewhere with Palm trees) I'd be begging you to wear it somewhere. Who makes it????? If it's a musical group then of course it's #5. I truly love #6 and #8 is so much FUN. Maybe #1 or #4?

I'm not much help am I?

Formulas for Success ~My Goals for the Biggest Loser Challenge

Monday, September 10, 2012

My goals for the upcoming Biggest Loser Challenge are to regroup and embrace what has worked for me. My trainer quit the profession, but I held onto all my notes, workouts, and handouts. I have the roadmap; I have found the road that works for me. I am going back several months in my training routine and retrace the road to success. I have always felt that I have trouble blogging because I am a math teacher, I could blog better if it involved formulas. So, indulge me a bit, as I list my goals in my own understandable language. My own personal reference sheet.

Y=mx+b, equation of a line. This is my direct path to success. Measure food at each meal to stay in absolute calorie range.

(x-a)^2 + (y-b)^2 = r^2, equation of a circle. Each day will begin with a glass of water, and the circle will repeat until 10 glasses are consumed. The circle will begin each day again from one to 10.

x^2 = 4py, equation of a parabola. This is what my heart rate is going to look like as I exercise. I know I need to exercise at an increased intensity to succeed. I can put the time in, but I need to push the limit.

Y=lxl, y= absolute value x, always yields a positive solution. This represents my sparkfriends and the positive interactions I experience every day. I will offer encouragement and keep the spark alive. Arm in arm we will travel the path to better health together.

I will reward myself on a weekly basis.

This is my pledge to me. A new person, a woman with many solutions to complex problems.

Great plan, and it was a great idea to put it into terms you can relate to. I on the other hand stink at math and equations, love to write. In the end it just comes down to goals and how you plan ot reach them, no matter what that looks like. Good luck! You can do it!

Biggest Loser Letter to Future Self

Wednesday, June 08, 2011

In the final episode of The Biggest Loser, contestants recorded a video to be viewed by their future self. Their future self had reached the finale of The Biggest Loser and the end of their televised weight loss journey. They were living the life they had worked so hard to reach.

As the Biggest Loser Summer Slimdown Challenge begins, here is my letter to my future self to be read in 11 weeks.......

Dear Karen,

How does it feel to be 10 pounds thinner? Have you bought a new outfit to celebrate?

First I would like to thank you for the time you spent in the gym. There were days that were difficult for you, but you made YOU a priority. Time was not on your side, but you organized meals, cooked and moved forward in blind faith. It was faith in the process and a belief that healthier days were ahead.

You were never alone, you were never without support and encouragement. Remember the day you walked by the teachers' lounge and you walked right past the cookies, because you knew there were 1,012 members of The Biggest Loser All Teams that would be disappointed if you took one. One step at a time, one day at a time. (Just keep stepping right past those cookies. Heehee!)

You have come a long way. Enjoy the time ahead. The “new” Karen looks great but the “old “ Karen looked fantastic too. Time to let go of the old for that which is new. Remember where you came from and who your true friends are because from your past experiences strength has emerged.
