My dear sweetie found out that she was supposed to be at a baby shower for a very close work friend at 11 am this morning, which would mean she'd have to leave before my Zumba class was done.
At first I offered to just skip Zumba, but then I came up with a compromise - going to half of Zumba would still get my wife there without being too late.
So we did that. I rode my bike to Zumba and back for a little extra workout and then, since I only did 1/2 a Zumba class I decided I would (and had enough energy for) riding the kids on the bike to Tiny's soccer class. Lemme tell ya, that extra 60 pounds in the bike trailer sure makes for a great workout!
So, 15 minutes to and from Zumba, 30 minutes of Zumba and about 40 minutes to soccer class and back. I feel really strong today :)

I'm thinking of all the people, on Sparkpeople and across the US, who, despite having resolved to do differently this year, may not have been terribly careful about their eating today.
Was I one of them? As a matter of fact, yes and no.
I started out great - ate a breakfast that would satisfy me without too many calories and did the same for lunch. All this - plus - I managed to get over 5,000 steps in before 1pm.
However, at 4 o'clock, I was starving. And there was pizza. Lots of it. And guacamole and chips.
So, I ate more than I have in a while, and it was interesting to get my body's feedback on that. As usual, it felt good in the short term, and not so great a while after that, both physically and mentally.
But you know what? Here I am. Logging every calorie, writing in this blog and thinking about what I did right today.
And tomorrow? Well, that's another day, but between you and me, I have some plans to get back on the Zumba horse and get moving back toward my goal.

This is our first trip to visit my father-in-law (who is 93) since I really started getting serious about getting this weight off.
The good news is, is the park and recreation dept here offers Zumba classes, so I plan to try to squeeze in 2 during our 3 day visit.
The bad news is, is that my fil is a huge chocolate fiend, and so the treats are everywhere.
I went a little overboard on the sweets tonight, but I did have the thought, what is this gonna get me?
I'm going to have to think of/research some good strategies for the superbowl, since it looks as if the menu is going to be pizza for dinner (maybe at least get 1/2 of it veggie, so I can cut down on calories & add in veg that way???). Also, I'm going to take it easy on the calories earlier in the day (but still get a good healthy breakfast) and see if I can squeeze in a powerwalk before the big game.

Today I ate a lot of snacks. Just seemed to not be able to fill myself, despite not actually being all that hungry.
It's a good reminder that I can listen to the stress instead of letting my "hunger" override what I'm thinking and find something else to distract/nurture myself that isn't food.
