I'm so nervous

Bloomsday kind surprised me. I totally didn't realize it was bloomsday till a couple of days ago. I haven't trained as much as I would of liked. I'm nervous and scared that I might not pull through or even run most or all of it. I do have a bloomsday music playlist to keep me motivated. Help?

    Just relax and enjoy the experience! Bloomsday is a fun race where everyone just has a good time. There will be thousands of people who run and walk and nobody cares. I always liked the bands on the roadside! Good luck and have a great time!!

Hello I'm alive!

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the absence. I went to Seattle for an anime/Japanese culture convention over Easter weekend and I had to do a lot of homework before and after the event. (As well as work) I worked security for it so I walked like 8 miles a day and drank a looooot of water from my camelbak. My sleep really messed up over the weekend because I was going from 7-8 in the morning or earlier till 1 am that night each night.

Sadly I've been working a lot of morning shifts at work and that usually meant breakfast at McDonalds. Uggggh... I need to start waking up earlier to eat oatmeal and just snack on gorp during work. I still have my walking and water drinking habits from the con even though the walking has lessened slightly to about 2 miles a day or so.

I am still training for Bloomsday and I appreciate the encouragement. I decided to make a new goal for myself. Well here are a few of my goals:

Cut out as much sugar and sodium out of my diet as I can
Stop the fast food
Drop to 130 pounds by July 20th
Drink 8 glasses of water a day
Sleep 7-8 hours a night
Also, work on areas of my body that need attention so that my self esteem goes up: (example: Get rid of this acne that's on my face)
Less time on computer

I really hope that I can lose those 35 pounds by July 20th. If I did that would be awesome and I would be slimmer in my bathing suit. Either way, it is important that I lose the weight because it is a lot of unneeded stress on my cerebral palsy littered body.

    WOOHoo! When I don't get up in time to make something, I grab a Mrs. Trio Bar and Banana, controlled healthy breakfast and probably cheaper then fast food.

    That is a great list of goals. I'm going to watch Bloomsday from home this year but I think next year is definitely do-able - Good Luck and have fun!!

Quick Update (I need your thoughts!)

Okay I wanted to let you guys know that I will be starting a week late on my challenges. I had to work overnight New Year's Eve so that plus getting a bad cold has thrown off my sleeping schedule, etc. I hope to get back on track soon!

Also, I am trying to find a good runner's diet. Anyone have any ideas?

On the same note, I signed up for Bloomsday 2012 and I am highly highly considering the Windermere half marathon two weeks later. (I figure it'd help my employer to help kids. I work at McDonalds and proceeds for the race goes to the Ronald McDonald House) Besides I hear it has a cool after party with music. Sounds like a lot of fun! Do you guys think that would be a good idea? I think I was well rested a week after Bloomsday last year and that's a 12k.

I am also training more vigerously this time and getting into a routine. (Also, since I'm allergic to MSG and Caffeine...and sugar for that matter, I won't have too much trouble getting into tip top shape!)

Besides that I am kind of failing in my 100 day challenge soooo I plan to start that officially next Tuesday... I hope you all have a wonderful week, had a wonderful holiday!

    Hey! Wait a minute! Did we forget to tell you when you joined the 100 day challenge that there is no way possible to fail???? emoticon Seriously, as long as you are trying...you are not failing! It's a progress not perfection kind of challenge. Some days are better than others. Trust me. My day 11 was emoticon. But I dusted off my pants and got right back on it for day 12. emoticon

    Sounds like you have a pretty good plan! I think if you plan and train - which you obviously are - then doing back to back long races like that shouldn't be a problem. The Windemere one sounds like fun! As for a diet - sounds like you are already half way to doing paleo. Which is what I TRY to do. lol! When I'm good and stick to it, I feel fantastic. There is a paleo team if you are interested in checking it out. Have fun with your training!

Post Bloomsday: I'm still here!

Sorry for the absence. I've been busy with last minute preparations for Sakura Con on Easter weekend in Seattle. The weekend before I had to work in the morning and immediately after I had to attend a local anime convention's fashion show fundraiser to take pictures. I'm one of their official photographers. I didn't run too much due to lack of time and poor weather. However at Sakura con which was held at the Washington State and Trade Center, I walked a lot! I had to work for the con and that involved a lot of walking. I avoided soda and energy drinks all weekend as well!

Then today was Bloomsday. Oh Bloomsday. You have been a goal for quite a while now. As daunting as you are I am glad I did it. I power walked for some of it and ran a lot of it. I ate tons of spaghetti the night before as well. I managed it in two hours and thirty minutes! Not bad for my first time, especially considering my cerebral palsy and only starting training a month prior. I just wanted to tell you all that I have not forgotten about this place and I accomplished my goal.

As for short term goals, I am going to try and train for 5k races and see if I can't bring my time down from 34 minutes to 22. If I can manage that then perhaps I can run Bloomsday in a shorter time next year. I am so dead tired right now but I'm wearing my finisher shirt and I have a shiny new medal hanging on my wall to remind me of what I managed to do today.

Did any of you guys run or walked Bloomsday today?

Body Conditioning: Training Day 3

I am so exhausted so I will keep this short.

I walked on the treadmill at a semi-decent normal pace for endurance training. I started with incline of six, went to 8 for most of it, tried incline of 11 for a short bit then went back to six and finally an incline of zero for my cool down. This took about an hour.

The next two hours were spent working on the mat with core strengthening exercises and a lot of stretching. My waist is sore, heh heh. I also did some lunges with weights to strengthen my knee. I ended the two and a half hours of training with a half hour in the sauna. The sauna always feels nice on my muscles after a work out. I did a lot better with my water intake. SIX 8-oz GLASSES!!! :D

Also, I treated myself to a fruit smoothie and a movie for working out today.

Mango-raspberry and Tangled. I LOVE that movie. Tomorrow will be running for thirty minutes after work with the run/walk ratio of 30-45.

    Great job with the workouts and the water! I have such a hard getting down the recommended water - I'm impressed! I haven't seen Tangled yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing it soon. Keep up the good work!!
