7 Days of Inspiration - Day 2

Thursday, August 26, 2010

Day 2

Forget your "flaws"! You've got a list of good qualities a mile long!

Interesting isn't it? If you read yesterdays blog, and followed the instructions.....I would almost be willing to bet that your good qualities are very similar to yesterday's assignment. Or are they?

Today...think about what others would consider your "good qualities". As you think about those......how genuine do you think they are? Are they really what you would consider your good qualities? Or is it a mask you wear?

Our weight loss journey is about peeling off those masks and facing our realities. In doing this we can change our outcome. If we put aside our masks.....our flaws....and concentrate on those things that make us GREAT! We can change our future.....and our outsides will reflect our insides!

What do you think?

See you tomorrow!

Hugs,

Keri

Wonderful! Iwould agree with NANCY-! I use my humor as a cover many times, but how can I use it that way if it's not there to begin with!

Keep up the good work!

Thomas Jefferson was bad at managing money, but great at so many other things.
Ben Franklin and the kite stuff.... kind of makes me wonder about him.

Sometimes my vivaciousness is used as a mask, but it truly is a part of me. What is is used for is to mask my disdain for routine. So I can use this quality to keep my life fresh and alive.

Keri,
Thanks for doing this. As you can see it is helping me to gain valuable insight.

You are ....

7 Days of inspiration - Day One

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

(7 Days of Inspiration is borrowed from Womens World. They have provided the phrase and the rest is mine.)

Day 1

Be yourself. There is no one better.

Sometimes on this road to self discovery, we are so focused on trying to become what every "normal" person is and we forget what makes each of us unique. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. We all have those little things that make us ......well....us!

The trick is finding a way to keep our uniqueness and incorporating it into our new healthy bodies.

So how do we do that?

Start a list today and write down the wonderful things about you. I don't care about the things other people tell you that are good about you......what are you proud of? You know...deep inside....you know what I'm talking about.

Make that list.....and look at it for the next 7 days. It's time for a change. It's time to make a difference. Let's use our strengths and build on it.

Care to share????

Here's the start to mine......

1. I have a great sense of humor.
2. I wear my heart on my sleeve.
3. I care deeply.
4. I love to sing and dance.
5. I love making new friends.

Have a great day! See you tomorrow!

Hugs,

Keri

Thanks for this blog; you have made me pause. There is so much more to each of us than what is seen on the outside. You are helping us to look at the totality of ourselves. We are not simply height and weight and the ratio that results from that.

I read day 2 also so I came back to this one. Hmmm What are some good things about me?
1 There is no task I am above as long as I am able to do it.
2 I will help anyone.
3 I only like to edify others in Jesus name
4 When I do something, I do it with care.
5 I love to give.

That took a little time but not as much as I thought it would. I need these to be magnified in my awareness of myself. I have not focused or really looked for such things. thank you. I know Jesus is Good

    Alrighty...
I'm starting a bit late... but I love this.

I'm an adventurer (walk in nature)
I'm an explorer. ( Love to check out new places)
I'm spontaneous (sometimes to a fault) :D
I'm a student ( I love to learn new things)
I'm a teacher ( love to share what I know)
I have a silly sense of humor.
I like to celebrate and appreciate life.

Great Blog!!!

    Keri,

What a great blog. I hope to do this. I know I know if you don't do it now you (I) probably won't but duty calls.

Maybe that's one of my traits - I'm reliable
2. I like to make people feel good.
3. I'm funny (at least to me I am)
4. I'm loyal
5. I try to make the world a better place everyday because I was here.
6. I care

Well that wasn't so hard. Thanks - I'm feeling pretty good right now.

Later,

Vandal>

Clearing out the cobwebs!

Sunday, August 08, 2010

I've been a little M.I.A. lately. I guess I needed more time to clear my head. I even thought about abandoning this site....but darn.....I would miss you guys. You always pick me up when I need it....you listen to my rants....celebrate my successes....and consoled me through my heartaches and failures.

How could I give that up.....plus....I love sharing in your lives and all you have going on. This is a very special site. Everyone has such great ideas and tips to share.

I did abandon a couple of challenges this month, sorry, but it was what I had to do. I've been trying out a few more sparkpeople recipes. We had a great chicken enchilada casserole. We liked it but I think I will tweak it a little the next time I make it.

I had my granddaughter today. She is three and just HAD to go for a walk. It was so hot and humid but we walked about a mile. I kept telling myself it was good for me. Aubrey just loves to be outside. I am waiting for things to cool off a little more.

I hope to spend some time tomorrow catching up with everyone tomorrow......I've missed all of you. Have a great day!

Hugs,

Keri

It's great to have you back. Be sure to "up" your intake of water on these hot, humid days, especially when exercising, like you and Aubrey did. That is so precious: treasure every moment with your granddaughter.

Food on the brain?

Thursday, July 29, 2010

I've written quite a few blogs and deleted every one of them. They all seemed to focus on my job or lack there of. So until I find something I can do at home or find a job, or win the lottery....oops you have to play to win...don't you....bummer, I will make every attempt to focus on my health. And if a lack of job frustration leaks in....I hope you'll forgive me.

My dear hubby has really been enjoying having me home. We have a great 50/50 relationship....we get groceries together......we cook together....we clean up together. Well, since he is the sole bread winner in the family, I have taken over the food detail. We tend to be creatures of habit, so our variety of meals has been very weak.

So I've been trying to find new things....things that taste great, are healthy, and don't take long to make. Last night I made BBQ chicken sandwiches. I have never in my life boiled chicken. And while it looks gross, it sure makes great, tender meat. So I learned something new. And that is what it's all about...isn't it.

I'm going to look for some great crock pot recipes this week. I love that in the winter time. Spark people recipes really make it easy and fun. So I guess this is good that I have this time to do this.

On an exciting note, I am the President of our local Society of Human Resource Management group, and I had to let the National organization know that I was without a job. I got a call from them yesterday and they asked me to be on a judging panel to give away scholarships for people looking for assistance with certification and education. It isn't a paying job, but it is a way to network with others in my field and is a real feather in my cap. So I am really excited about the opportunity.

I hope you are all well! If you have any favorite recipes, I would love to hear about them.

Very cool that the HR group asked you to be a judge, you never know where those contacts will lead you.

I have the same thought about the lottery (you have to play to win. :P

Having time to learn new things to cook is good, though.

Great news on the scholarship panel. That is a great way to network and stay out there.

In the meantime good for you to look at what you can do to be better rather than looking at what you don't have!

With that attitude and your skills some employer will snap you up and have a great employee. Hope it happens soon for you.

What a great opportunity! Networking is what it's all about anymore, isn't it? And it sounds like fun, too!

I'm not much on cooking, but there are plenty of slow-cooker recipes in the sparkrecipes section. Or you can try MyRecipes.com.

Chicken is an excellent healthy choice for any kind of a meal. Growing up on the fram, I learned all about boiled chicken when I was young. We ate way more chicken than beef or
pork. Mom would even grind up meat from old hens and make "henburger". This was not an item that was high on DH's list of favorite foods. I have a link to a crockpot website with 100's of recipes. I'll try to send it to you.
