I had a great workout today! :)

I'm still on my home vacation, so I have the time to do all of this, don't be jealous I am going back to work in a few days and I surely won't have time for 2 hours a day of workouts after that. :(

So today I tried to mix it up, I tried to make it fun, I tried to burn as many calories as I could without hurting my knee (with which I have problems...), I tried to work on flexibility, and booooy did I succeed! :)

My plan is to do 1 hour cardio + 1 hour yoga.

For my level of fitness 1 hour of cardio is enough right now, I don't want to do more partly because of my knees and partly because it's more tiring for the body, more than 1 hours is a stress factor and right now I'm focusing on getting balance, peace, clarity and energy into my life, rather than training like an animal and draining my energy sources - if that makes sense... Also, 1 hour is a pretty good amount of time, isn't it?!

And the 1 hour of yoga is so so important for me, I started doing yoga recently, the videos of the wonderful Teshia Maher from Canada. She's the first online yoga teacher that I can watch without getting bored!!! She's HERSELF, if you know what I mean, she's not the pro teacher who makes DVDs and has that fake smile or fake attitude or fake push, she's REAL! Anyway, here's how today looked like:

- 10 minutes YOGA to warm myself up, to stretch my body a little bit, not too much, it's just a warm up yet.

- 20 minutes EASY CARDIO: Coach Nicole has these videos on SP, they're called 11-Minute Chair (!) Cardio Workout. Now I know that many of you might think that a seated exercise is not a real exercise, but I wanted to take it easy in the first 20 minutes, and trust me, it IS burning those calories. Also, in the last few minutes I modified and I stood up to do jumping jacks, which, as we all know, BURN! :)

- 12-Minute Low Impact Cardio Workout: from SP videos as well. Low impact again, but this too burns!!

- here's the fun part: 16 minutes of dancing to BEYONCE music videos (specifically Run the world, Get me bodied and Grown woman). This was really fun, I was improvising but watching at the music video on Youtube in the meantime trying to catch some moves (if I could).

- 14-Minute Cardio Dance Workout. This is basically a Bollywood type of dance, with unusual moves for someone who's used to western workout DVDs.

- 50 minutes YOGA with Teshia. 50 minutes is a long time but it flied away because you're focused on getting the best form ,best posture, biggest benefits, and also you're listening INSIDE - it's the perfect ending for an intensive workout! Also, because my body is very warmed up from all the cardio, I'm also more flexible and it's a great feeling that I can go deeper into the postures!

All of this - according to SP's fitness tracker - equals burning 743 calories - which I'm really happy about!! :) I know that there are workouts that burn this much not in 2 hours but in 1 (!) but as I said, I'm not trying to burn out, I'm trying to listen inside and my inside :) says that this structure of workouts works best for me right now! :)

Soooo I'm starting a new "I'm thankful for..." blog, writing one positive thing daily that I am thankful for on that day! I decided to start a new one, instead of just continue with the previous one, because the last time I posted into that one was in March LAST YEAR! Yes, that is 2012! It just seemed wrong to continue a year-old blog post! :)) I can't believe how much time has passed while I didn't log in to Sparkpeople! So much good has happened in the meantime, and a little bad too but that's just life. :)

So here it goes:

Today I'm thankful for ... Sparkpeople! :) YES! :)It's obvious, but I just wanted to put it out there. I kind of "rediscovered" SP today again, after more than a year, it's been a long time coming now, since I have been struggling to find motivation. I'm one of those people who knows EXACTLY what she should and shouldn't eat, exercise, how much, etc. I know all the facts, I know what and how I should do this, but I lack motivation oftentimes and that interferes! Sooo I'm thankful for Sparkpeople, because being on the website today and in the past days has given me so much hope and joy! Thank you Sparkpeople! :) I'll be back with a new one tomorrow and I hope to keep this going every day! :) Take care everyone! :)

Today I'm thankful for ... my 10 days off and the empty house all for myself in those 10 days (until my boyfriend comes home at 6...), because these have allowed me to refocus to the truely important things: health, yoga, good nutrition, healing, self-love! :)

Today I'm thankful for ... living in a first world country where 'fancy' stuff like quinoa, stevia, etc. are accessible! I lived in Romania until a year ago, I'm not saying it's not accessible there, but it's much more expensive compared to the wages. Living in the UK, and earning a regular salary allows me to buy any 'fancy' food I want! :)

Today I'm thankful for ... the fact that I only work 4 days a week, not 5! True, it's 10-hour shifts, not 8, and with the lunch breaks and the road to and from work, and preparing in the morning it adds up to 12 hours, but at least I have 3 whole days off!

Today I'm thankful for ... the fact that I'm FINALLY off from work!!!

Today I'm thankful for ... the fact that I move around a lot at my job! I generally don't like working there at all, and it's only for an other year, until I move back home, I only do it for the money and because I didn't find any other jobs (we live at a region where unemployment is high and it's very hard to find a job). But, as I said, I'm glad that it a job where I walk around all day long, only sitting down in the lunch breaks, and I'm not just standing, I'm mostly walking, not fast though, just normally - so all in all it's really healthy and today I'm especially glad about this, because this week I overindulged two times in ice cream and each day I ate a little bit more than planned d(1200 kcal would've been the plan) and I thought I blew the whole week, but I weighed myself this morning and I actually lost a pound!!

Today I'm thankful for ... the fact that I'll be traveling home to my parents in about 5 days!! :) I can't wait! I'm gonna attend a good friend's wedding, I'll catch up with my family...the little things! :)

Today I'm thankful for ... the extra 2 days off that I got, unplanned! YAAY! I accomplished so much already thanks to these days off! :)

    I'm also thankful for sparkpeople, I just came back yesturday and had been gone for over 2 years... time flies but have dropped 22 lbs in the last 2 months and moving forward, glad the spark is still alive emoticon

...the peace in my present life. I know it's not even close to perfect but it's much better than before.

...the existence of the person I can proudly call my love.

...all the things my sister did for me.

...the effort my parents made to help me learn English. :)

...the beauty of spring, the nature and the sky! :)

...the awesome trainer who trains me! :)

...having opportunities in my life, for being able to use them!

...being relatively healthy, for being able to work out and move freely!

...the bike ride I had the day before yesterday. I went to the neighborhood where my grandparents used to live before they passed away, where I've spent a big part of my childhood. I got a closer look at their old owners live in it now, it's renovated but you can still find traces of my grandparents in it and this makes me feel a little closer to them. emoticon

...the great trip I had this weekend: we went to the mountains with 8 friends, stayed at a (pretty cheap but really nice) house, hiked for more than 4 hours, went to see an incredible waterfall (which I never even know existed), played a lot of board and card games, ate awesome foods, spent quality time with friends. emoticon

...the great trip we WILL have this coming weekend: we'll spend 2 days in Budapest (Hungary) and one day in Vienna (Austria). Can't wait!! :)

...for the great outcome of the trip I mentioned above! :) I loved Vienna, we went to the Schonbrunn palace and the Prater, which is a theme park with rides, etc! :)

...the trip we'll have this weekend: we'll go camping for 3 days to the mountains! :)

...for the trip to the Nyiregyhaza (Hungary) zoo we had a few days ago.

...the great german course I found and am now attending: 2 and a half hours 2 days a week, for 6 weeks - on a great price - with a great teacher!

...for finally experiencing a feeling of "I can get there" regarding weight loss! It's something I didn't feel in five years. It's true! I tried but didn't keep my promises, I worked out but slipped up with food, etc etc etc. But something changed inside me two weeks ago, I don't know how but it did, and finally I feel EMPOWERED!

[I felt a little hungry before going to bed, which usually makes me jump up and eat something, but i read some good magazines and had some good quality time (wink) with my hun, so i quickly forgot about it]

July 2, Saturday
BMR + Calories Burned = 1860 + 350 = 2210
Calories Consumed = 1750

Calorie Deficit = -460

July 3, Sunday
BMR + Calories Burned = 1860 + 0 = 1860
Calories Consumed = 1860

Calorie Deficit = 0 (seriously)

July 4, Monday
BMR + Calories Burned = 1860 + 600 = 2460
Calories Consumed = 2100

Calorie Deficit = - 360

[this should be higher but my honey started eating pist5achio nuts right next to me while we were watching a movie and i love pistachio nuts...i ended up eating almost 2 ounces...also, during the day on the road, i could resist eating ice cream...but still this deficit is better than none, it's the lower level of 'good' for me, but good nonetheless]

[the day went well but I ate more (healthy) snacks during the night than planned and I ended up with a smaller deficit (i planned 800 kcal deficit but ended up with 375). I should plan more food for the afternoon because that's when i'm at home and i only eat in a hurry at work so it doesn't satisfy me too much, but at home i like to enjoy food - and not just a little of it - but i think that's okay if i stay in the calorie range...]

[who knew the nachos they serve in cinemas is 500 kcal/100 gr, serving size 230 (!!) grams, plus 110 gr cheese dip (with 180 kcal/100 gr)] - this means i consumed 1335 kcal with ONE serving of nachos. F**k them!
