Still More Stuff To Do For Mom!

Friday, April 27, 2012

I still have a list of things to do for mom before the end of this month. I thought that I have done everything except for handing in the keys and dealing with the Bank which I did today.

Our meeting with the bank went better today, however I got my mom to sign the wrong piece of paper and I need her to sign the correct one on Monday. Oh Well she said just get her to sign it whenever and mail it in. So I will.

Then I was on the phone all after noon trying to get this darn computer fixed so that I can on an google Wheelchairs for mom.

She needs a special type and boy are they expensive to rent. One place wanted 649 to rent for 3 months, another 249 per month. So we still have to search out a better deal. There is no way we or my mom can afford one.

I still have to get her taxes done by the end of this month. I have no choice in the matter and I hope I can do it by telefile the way mom did it last year. If not I will explain to them about mom's stoke and her paralysis.

I have to phone Telus and shaw to get the phone and cable transfer to her new place instead of a cancellation.

I have still have lot of forms to fill out for the Care Home by Monday.

So Tomorrow which is my day off and my plans where to rest and take it easy because of my back. I plan on working on the baby afghan and finish the owl.

Well I have to keep telling myself to take it one hour at a time and to take it one step/thing at a time and before I know it I will have nothing left to do.

As for my back it is toast, I can't ice it because the pain get worse, I can only use the message on mom's rocking chair for a bit a relief. I won't try heat yet because my back is a bit swollen and I have to get the swelling down and it will.

One thing that I am trilled about is the three pounds that I had lost this week.

I am so proud of myself for stinking to my eating plan instead of giving in to my pain and have take out of junk food.

Work went OK tonight, I worked with Melissa who is a wonderful MOD, She made sure I didn't do anything that would injure my back. She even brought in sum of the bins and wouldn't let me take you.

All the people the I worked with tonight were so helpful and hopefully on Saturday my back will be alright.

Well I am off to bed now, It is hard to sleep as most of you know about pain and back issues.

Take care and have a great night.

Bye the way I managed to fix Norton's all by myself. WoohOO for me.

The end is in sight. Just hang in there!

And I don't know if it's helpful for you or not, but when I tore the ligament in my back, my doctor prescribed an anti-inflammatory - liquid that you rub on 3 x a day. For me it made all the difference because I can't take the oral ones; they make me really sick to my stomach. It's called Pennsaid ... not cheap but (at least in my case) oh, so worth it.

A good day despite the pain!

Thursday, April 26, 2012

No sleep last night because of my back pain, so I rested as well as I could. This morning I tried to stretch it out but couldn't. I was so stiff and sore but went to work instead of calling in sick. I need the money. Thank goodness work was very slow and I didn't have to do anything except being a cashier. I made the customers pack the heavy stuff so I wouldn't cause anymore pain. They went for it once I explain about my back. The manager wanted me to condense a rack for of Easter stuff which consist of a lot of bending and lifting and moving. I did what I could and left the rest for Amy to do which she didn't mind. She is a awesome co-worker and friend.

After work we went to Tim Horton's for lunch share a Turkey BLT and had a coffee but took the donut and muffin home for breakfast tomorrow.
Then after lunch drove to see mom and told her the good news which she found out this morning from her doctor.

She ofcourse is nervous, scared and excited to move. She is sick and tired of hearing the hallway door leading to her ward bang shut every five seconds. She is in the first room beside that door. There are notices posted to shut the door quietly but people don't care except for the staff who work there.

Don't have to worry about that after morning!

WE also had another meeting with the Social Worker from the Hospital about the transfer. It will happen at some point on Monday, I am allow to travel with her in the transfer taxi and John will follow us to the Care home and we can get her comfortably settled in. She loves that idea, it made her feel safer and know she knows that we aren't leaving her there.

After that we can set up her room with some of her treasures.

Then it was time to go home for my back was in agony. I managed to make some steamed chicken breast skin and bones removed already, rice with broccoli, carrots, onions, cauliflower with a very lite Soya Sauce.

Spent a few hours of sparking in total while trying to rest my back. I can only sit for ten minute, lye down for ten and so on.

Now it is time to take more pain pills and go rest of the couch until the pain subsides and I can walk to the bed room.

Lots to do tomorrow: Bank meeting with mom's bank for Authorization, renting a wheelchair for mom or getting one on loan.

Then the rest of the day: nothing, just taking care of myself until i go to work Friday night.

I will be fine.

Good night, Sandraland is now closed, Hugs

I have back pain so I can honestly say I feel your pain. That is what brought me back to Sparkpeople. I have to loose weight to have back and neck surgery.

I have always heard people complain about pain in prior years, and how you just gotta suck it up and go on. Well, back pain has got to be the worst pain out there, because when your back hurts, then your legs hurt, your arms hurt, etc. When you back hurts it radiates to every other part of your body. It's because without your back you can't do anything.....you use your back to sit, stand, bend, reach, etc. Your back is used no matter what you are trying to do. I say now that people don't know true pain until they've had back pain.

One thing that may help, they make these things that you put on your skin and it heats it up...I think one brand is called thermal patches. They do help. And now I've heard they have some that get warm and then cool. So maybe those will help ya a bit.

Hope you feel better soon.

So glad your Mom is finally getting a permanent place to live -it will be so much better with her personal things surrounding her..
You really did a number on your back :(( Maybe you need some physiotherapy to loosen it up.. Try some ice on it and sleep with your knees up on a pillow and see if that will help ease it..
Feel better soon -that co worker of yours is GOLD!

Ugh! Blog went to cyber space!

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Well I just finished writing a blog and I transferred it over here hit post and it disappear.
To make this blog short and sweet, met with the Social Worker and Director of Care, had a great tour of the facilities and an hour meeting with Scot (SW) What a very nice and sympathetic guy. He answered all our questions and answer some we didn't asked.

I feel totally at ease to know mom is going to get the best of care and the support she requires. The place is so welcoming even if you have to use a code to get in.

In time mom will settle in and start to enjoy and meet people and do more things.

Well I am off to bed, With everything going on these last few weeks and knowing my back was in a bad shape I thought I was doing everything possible not to hurt it anymore. Well I threw my back out this afternoon loading up the last of mom's stuff and the weird thing was that the lifting was heavy I just moved the wrong well and out it went.

I even had to work a five hour shift tonight and now the pain is so server that I have to take a strong pain killer in order to sleep.

Don't worry I will be better after a good nights sleep and lots of rest. They all know at work about my back and they are making sure I am not lifting anything.

I will write more tomorrow if and when I get a chance.

Please I will be fine.

A Great Day With Family!

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Well last night I went to bed and managed to fall asleep at around 1:30 am. only to wake up at 4am and could not get back to sleep. So I got up and went into the kitchen for a Tylenol and a Clariton. I couldn't breath and my back was spasming out. I then laid on the couch where I could raise my legs up onto the back on the couch and got so much relief after laying there for 30 minutes. Meanwhile I watch a few of my taped shows and was still awake at 8am and then managed to doze of until the phone rang at 10am letting me know that my Step Dad and Aunt are driving in to help us finish cleaning mom's place.

It is a good thing she called cause I had an appointment with the bank concerning mom's banking unfortunately I couldn't get it done. They wouldn't accept the papers I presented to them. Then I ran into one of the Receptionist who I have known for ages and she told me that I should actually go to mom's original bank and show them the forms, and it should be OK. I know one of the tellers there and I hope she recognizes me, IF not I have to go and get a bank's POA done with more witnesses. I will get this done tomorrow after I finish with another meeting that I have concerning mom.

While I was at mom's place, Aunt Jean cleaned mom's kitchen fridge, stove, cupboards inside and out and got her kitchen floor totally cleaned. We found over thousands and thousand of mice poop and ten dead mice in nooks and cranny. Now we know what the awful smell was in her place all the time and my poor mom lived like this.

IT totally grosses me out, no wonder she came down with cold, flu and other lung problems. Now that the place is clean they can remove the carpets and put in news ones, replace the bath tub and surrounding wall, it gave way while I cleaned the bathroom today, One whole panel came off the wall behind the bathtub and the wall was black.

I even managed to vaccume the bedroom and both closets and the living room. I filled up two bags of dust, dirt or other crap.

While we ladies were cleaning Dad went with John and dropped off the Red Cross Items that mom had rented for six months to help her out around the apartment, they also did one trip to the storage locker and then drove back to N. Vancouver to look at John truck and to see if Dad can fix it, He is a mechanic and a darn good one. We thought the Alternator was going on it but Dad think it just need a good long drive because we had to get the truck jump started at three different times. So that is what we are going to do.

We will take a long drive to Abbotsford where they live, visit and then drive back. That should do the trick.

A few hours had passed and John called me found home saying they are on their way and they were hungry and also someone name Scot had called me concerning mom. John will explain when they get back to mom's. So we waited for them.

John gave me Scot's # and I called him. It turns out that Scot works for Little Mountain Care and wanted to let me know they might have a place for mom by the end of this week. I was so surprised and excited. IT turns out that it might be Adanac Place after all. This is the place that is only 15 minute away from my place and it is the place we like most of all from the outside.

Then we all jumped into the station wagon to go to ABC for dinner.

While at the Restaurant we all sat down and I jotted down some notes about mom. Scot wanted me to email him about mom's medical and life history, her likes and dislikes, her hobbies and other stuff.

Then we enjoyed our dinner, I had eggs Benedict and a coffee and they had different things. Once we were full and satisfied we headed back to mom's finished cleaning up the counter tops, loaded the remaining items(plants and planters) but left some of the cleaning supplies and vac there. I want to do one more vacuum and clean the patio windows before we go. Then all is said and done. Good bye the that rat infested He7777 hole.

Then came home took two more Tylenol and enjoying sparking while listening to the voice. Off to have a good long hot soapy shower and then to bed.

I have a meeting with Scot tomorrow at noon to get a tour of the place and to fill out more forms. I can't wait for tomorrow and to meet everyone there.

Then I need to go to mom's bank nearby and to get that done, then to London Drugs to get mom' insurance and stuff figured out. I didn't know about this. Dad told me.

Oh I still have to go to mom's clinic to tell them about mom and to the pharmacy to pick up all her receipts so that I can finally get her taxes done over the phone.

Still a lot to do but like I said, The end is so very close.

Had a great time today with family, had a great talk with family and most of all got a whole lot done.

I feel so good right now even though my back in aching and I am beyond tired. I know I will sleep well tonight.

The owl is coming along nicely and I will show it to you all once it is finished.

Hugs and sweet dreams.

I'd hold off on giving Scot all that personal info about your mom until you have her all set to go in there (just in case), but that's just my thought.

What an incredible lot of stuff you got done! I hope the long drive does the trick for the truck - I hate vehicle issues and know how stressful that can be.

Good luck with all the administration stuff. It will be SO nice to have all that done so you can get back to knitting!

Another Exhausting Day!

Monday, April 23, 2012

Wow another busy day,
First to the storage locker to store stuff that we had of mom's at our apartment. then to mom's for another two runs to storage locker. then over to the Hospital where we spent 70 minute visiting mom before heading back to mom for one more trip to storage locker.
Then Aunt Jean arrived and John and her loaded up the station wagon for one more trip to storage locker while I clean the bedroom closet s doors and bathroom. I also packed up three more boxes.
Then out for dinner to a Chinese Restaurant for a quick bit, Then back to mom's for one more load which this time we brought back to our place, I managed to get in 16,331 steps.
Well tomorrow is another busy day. I have a meeting with the bank about mom's banking, them to the Post Office to get a change of Address done, then meet Dad and Aunt Jean to finish up packing the rest of the little stuff to take to storage locker and finish cleaning and washing up her apartment.

After that we shall be finished and I can concentrate on working on the Christmas Elves that I had completely forgotten about, Work on the Owl Afghan and Stuff Owl. Then over the next two months John and I can take our time sorting out everything in the storage locker and cleaning/organizing our apartment to make it clutter free.

Our place looks like a war zone .

Now I am off to bed. Good night and sweet dreams. Catch up with you all tomorrow.
