This morning we got our weekly big brown bag of Philly soft pretzels from our generous colleague. I saw them in the kitchen and my first thought was, "Oh no she didn't!" Why is it that I used to wait all week to see those pretzels and now since I've started losing weight I get an attitude when I see the foods that are so tasty yet bad for me? Just yesterday, during my lunch break cardio walk, a pizza delivery guy was walking in front of me with an empty delivery case. I was so mad at him because he reminded me of my favorite food, pizza. I LOVE pizza. But I just couldn't stand it. Pizza is what made me gain this weight in the first place. I have a love-hate relationship with pizza... Now how many times did I just say the P word? LOL
So back to the pretzels... I took one because I figured, it's better to eat carbs in the morning than later in the day. I put some mustard on it and took one bite. As I was adding foods to myNutrition food log, I saw that the carbs for a medium size soft pretzel is 80 CARBS! 80?!! OH... EMM...GEEE... I couldn't believe it. That's why I gained 20 lbs. since I started working here. They always bring in junk food and say "oh i'm on a low-carb diet". Then don't bring them in then! Stop torturing everyone! Especially ME!
On a lighter note, I did well by not finishing that pretzel after that one bite. The carbs and calories turned me off that pretzel really quick. So I'm looking forward to my healthy lunch today. Black beans, hummus, green peppers, and whole wheat pita. Yum!!
