Turned the heat on

Friday, October 15, 2010

I remember growing up that my Dad refused to turn the heat on until it was absolutely freezing outside. Now that I'm the bill payer, I understand his logic. Last night, I broke down and turned it on! It's 48 degrees right now...it was time.

I know exactly what you mean! We are on the 3rd floor of an apartment building, so we can usually make it a while before having to turn it on. It's nice since we have to run our air extra hard all summer!
Now if I could get the kids to remember how to turn off lights when leaving a room!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

I know what you mean. I hate to turn on my heat but I cannot be in a cold house. I remember my grandmother used to turn on her oven and boil pots of water every morning. The house would always be toasty warm.

My mom turned the heat off at night and when she got up she'd turn it on for a few hours before she went to work. So our nights were always freezing.

I have a fireplace, but the wood is expensive and I don't like the smell.

Maybe I should just get everybody a heated blanket and call it a day.LOL emoticon

Is it the flu???

Thursday, October 14, 2010

I hardly ever get sick, but when I do...watch out! I have been feeling all achy in my joints and muscles and have had a headache for days...not sleeping well at all. Contemplated calling out, but I never do, so I came in for a conference call at 1pm and plan on going home as soon as that's done. I need to take care of me. If my daughter or husband were sick...even if a stranger was sick, I'd advise the same thing! Have to be good to myself.

That's true. Take care of you. Sometimes our bodies force us to take a day off to rest.

I felt symptoms coming on this week. Most of the time when I feel it coming I can stop it or shorten the duration of it.

This doesn't work for everybody, but it really works for me and my kids 75% of the time. I start to take "Airborne" and suck on "ColdEze" lozenges. There are reports out that say these things have no effect on preventing or shortening cold/flu symptoms. So maybe ours is just mental. I don't know. I do know that if I take them as soon as I feel symptoms it helps. I also include plenty of orange juice.

Hope you feel better.

No one sweats more than me!

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

My daughter and I went to Zumba last night and had so much fun, but looking around, I swear, no one sweats more than me. My hair looked like I just got out of the shower! Gross, but good, too. We plan on going back next Tuesday. There were about 100 people there! Fantastic! All shapes and sizes. Having been in the 300's before, I couldn't stop thinking about two of the women who were in the back that I know have to weigh at least 300 pounds, if not 350. They were doing their very best and not giving up. I wanted to tell them that I was happy for them that they were trying, but decided that if someone had said that to me at 300 pounds, I wouldn't welcome the attention.

Sadly but I wouldn't either. When I weighed 300 pounds I just wanted to be invisible.

I sweat a lot at Zumba too - the instructor is usually drenched as well though so I just chalk it up to a good class and keep going. I love most dance classes for the reason that all sizes and shapes can join and do well if they practice, belly dance, line dancing, lindy hop: doesn't matter if you are having fun right?

I need a nap and it's not even 8:30 yet!

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Horrible night of sleep...think I saw every hour. Our dog, Ruby, is so afraid of thunder and lightening, so her cries kept me up a lot. I was also really hot and couldn't get comfortable. Ugh...it's going to be a loooonnnng day. Our church is offering Zumba classes on Tuesdays for the next 10 weeks and I really want to go, but at this rate with the lack of sleep, I'm not sure I'll make it. Class starts at 7:30. Maybe if I can get out of work by 4, go home and nap for an hour...hmmmm.

The extra exercise will help you out, make you feel more awake. Sounds crazy, but so true!
Hope you make it through the day ok! :)
