Conquering the fear of public speaking

I can't begin to tell you how many times I have been forced to speak in public and for my job, but it never gets any easier for me. Tomorrow morning I have to speak in front of about 20 people and I am already having heart palpitations over it! Ridiculous! My job requires me to attend Toastmasters every 2 weeks as a way to become more comfortable with presenting to an audience and I've been going to these meetings for 3 years now and still dread it every time. I know that the biggest part of my fear is that I am uncomfortable with the way I look and being in front of people is like being in the spotlight. I know I'll get through it...I always do...but you know it's pretty bad when you wish for a flat tire...or a stomach virus...or something else to happen so that you can get out of it!!

Good luck, I hope it goes well! I still am not a fan of public speaking. I use to have to do it all the time in my old job. Every time I could feel my face turning bright red. That just made it worse. Report Inappropriate Comment

You will do great tomorrow!! I understand the nerves-I always had them on the first day of class when I was teaching or whenever I get observed. I really get nervous when I teach Zumba but I am working on my courage. Sleep tight, and good luck!! Report Inappropriate Comment

If so, you'll recognize these sights. We took a ride yesterday to Seaside Heights, NJ to show my daughter's college friends where the show is filmed.

Absolutely beautiful weather today...can't believe we took our shoes off and walked on the beach in January in New Jersey. So awesome. Felt so good to stick my feet in cold sand. Hope to have a few pictures to post tomorrow.

And what a great Friday it was! My platelet donation was successful. Feels good to know my blood is helping people. Our daughter came home on the train with 5 college friends. I was busy making them dinner for about two hours. They're all so nice and they're having so much fun being here. One of the kids is from Gettysburg, PA and he's never been to the beach. Even though it's chilly outside, we're going to Seaside Heights tomorrow to show him the beach. Tomorrow is actually supposed to be sunny and nicer than it's been all week. I'm looking forward to it!
