How am I going to do my new habit?

Sunday, March 03, 2013

Yesterday, I wrote about my desire to add more Strength Training into my fitness routine. I decided to help me along with that by doing 100 push ups and 130 squats per day. So, How am I going to do that? I have my goal written on a sticky note on my computer. Every time I see it I am reminded of it. I don't like having a check list with items not marked off. So, every time I see my goal I will be reminded that I need to complete that task. Today, I did squats while the coffee was brewing, I will do push ups before I hit the treadmill and when I get off. I have challenged myself today to complete these tasks before I head out the door for worship service! Challenging myself is a great motivator for me.

Hi, your page looks nice n Emerald too. I also recently got a fit bit. I so love it. It really motivates me to get more steps in. I was very sedentary, no exercise for 5 years and got quite out of shape... Now the fitbit is changing all that. I just got up to go do ten min on my treadmill and saw your comment on my page. If you have a smartphone there is a fitbit app that works on android phone. I plan on going to the gym for first time in years. My clothes are laid out and ready. I need strength training BADLY!! I did add you as a friend, because I like your blogs and your motivation talk helps me too! You Sparked me!! Plus we are on the same Emerald team.

New Habit for the 5% challenge

Saturday, March 02, 2013

My new habit for the 5% challenge will be to do at least 30 minutes of Strength training per day. I have the cardio down, but I tend to slack off when it comes to strength training. To help me out with this goal, I will do 130 squats each day and 100 push ups. I'm going to be Daisy strong!!!

ST is great, but you might want to alternate upper body and lower body workouts so your muscles get some rest in between. Good luck on your new habit.

Stress and the Holidays

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

1. Don't sweat the small stuff, there are bigger more important things in life.

2. It doesn't have to be perfect. Don't spend so much time making it perfect that you forget to take time and enjoy!

3. Remember the true reasone we celebrate Christmas and what the season is all about. Don't leave Christ out of Christmas.

Apple/pear/strawberry fruit leather

Tuesday, October 02, 2012

Apple / pear / strawberry Fruit leather

1 Red delicious apple
1 golden delicious apple
9 frozen strawberries
1 TBSP water

Core apples and cut into small pieces. Put apples, strawberries, and water in food processer or heavy duty blender. Mix until chunks are gone, you may have to add more water, but that's ok! Spread mixture on a food dehydrator tray and place in dehydrator. Set temperature at 135 degrees. Depending on the amount of liquid, the leather should be done in about 6 hours. Store in air tight container! Enjoy!!!

I've always wanted to try making my own fruit leathers. Especially because my son loves them. Is there a way to dehydrate them without a dehydrator?
