Hmmm . . . It's been a few months since my last blog . . .almost 6!! (this is for you Oliver!!) The spring flew by and I am deep into summer. The garden is yeilding Spinach, lettuce, peas, tomatoes, peppers, jalapenos, broccoli, cauliflower, and more. There is nothing like going out and picking a "salad" fresh from the garden!

I'm working out a lot. For the past 3 months, my personal goal has been 3000 minutes a month. I'm doing ripped in 30 days, although it will take long than 30 days, since I'm doing it every other day. I'm also running, biking and doing strength training. The past two weeks, I've seen a drop of a couple of pounds and I know I'm losing inches. I'm in the 5% summer challenge and that helps to keep me motivated!

That's all I have for tonight! I'll try to blog again before 6 more months pass! LOL!!!

    Mmmmmmmm.... I love fresh vegetables from a garden. Since I don't grow my own garden, I love going to the Farmer's Market. The tomatoes are absolutely delish!! Wow, 3000 minutes in a month.... That's amazing! I just received my 1000 montthly minute trophy this month!! It's nice to hear how you're doing!

Brrrrr . . . it is COLD here tonight! the wind chill is -8! I am almost ready to crawl into my nice warm bed! I don't know if i'll get much sleep, because tomorrow I am going to go see my GRANDDAUGHTER!!! . . . and my daughter and dear SIL! emoticon I am so excited!!! I am just praying the weather will hold, we are under a winter storm watch! I'll let you know tomorrow if i make it or not.

Ok, my new habit for the day is to encourge someone every day! emoticon

Happy Wednesday Spark Friends! Half way through the week and what a beautiful day it has been here! Ok, cold, very cold, but sunny and beautiful! emoticon

On to updating my habits for the 5% challenge. I am doing good on my workouts this week, I've posted over 100 minutes each day except for Sunday, and that is my slow down and rest day. I'm pulling things from my quiet time each morning and keeping it with me throughout the day. I'm not doing very good with the sleep habit yet. But that is ok, maybe I just don't need the extra sleep right now. I'm going to bed before i feel tired and I'm waking up before the alarm goes off in the mornings . . . so when I feel tired before my standard bed time, i'll go to bed. Today, I decided this was the day to begin working on being patient with others (everybody)! I am an organized, neat person . . . one of those everything has a place and things should be in there places type of person! It frustrates me when others don't see it as I do. I am a big multi tasker and can accomplish different things at once. I get impatient with those who cannot do that. I finish sentences. Get the picture? All of these are selfish things. They are all about me. Time to focus outward and not on self, and that means gaining a whole bucket load of patience! emoticon

    One of the biggest things I've learned with SparkPeople is to be PATIENT! I'd given up on a lot of other things prior to learning to be patient with the weight loss through plateaus and setbacks! Now, I have a different mindset, thanks to SparkPeople! emoticon emoticon

Still chasing

Ahhh . . . good intentions, but sleep didn't come until around 10:30 and I woke up before the alarm went off this morning . . . So instead of the 6 + hours of sleep I was shooting for, I got 5 _ 5 1/2. Either my body is conditioned to wake up at 4:00 or I don't need more sleep! I'm going to try it again tonight! emoticon

    I have the same problem, thought with exercise there shouldn't be a problem with sleeping. I bath before going to bed and it doesn't help me. Don't have a clue.

    Just curious but does anyone try taking a bath before bed. Just a soak in warm water. For some it works wonders, not that I do it.

    I'm glad it was pretty uninterrupted, though. I hate it when I go to bed at 11, wake up at 2:30, and lay there for two hours before going back to sleep! You'll get there because you are keeping at it! emoticon

    Gosh, the same thing has been happening to me!! I like to get up between 5 and 5:30...
For some reason I kinda wake up around 4 .. my dh is snoring which wakes me up.. I finally fa;; back asleep and wake up late (6ish) I feel like what is wrong with my system....

    My husband will go through bouts of this. He's found taking Melatonin (3mg) before bed helps, but it could be something in your diet too.

Looks like I am having the same problem not getting enough sleep.Lately I cant go to sleep till around 1 a.m. and get up at around 6 a.m. need 3 more hours of sleep every night.
My cardiac rehab nurse said we need 8 hours everynight.
I am going to try to go to bed @ 11 p.m. starting this weekend .

Try no caffeine after lunch . I stopped drinking coffee @ dinner and after 3 p.m.

Chasing sleep

For the 5% challenge we are to be blogging about healthy habits. My first was to increase exercise . . . So far, so good! Second, work on my spiritual relationship . . . quiet time was good today and I carried some thoughts with me through the day AND there were a lot of whiper prayers today! Today, I think it is time to try to catch some more ZZZZZ"s emoticon as my healthy habit. I am firm on my waking up time, 4:00 a.m. daily. I am not willing to budge there. By getting up at this time, I have a full 2 hours before anyone else wakes up. During that time I enjoy my quiet time and coffee . . . and then I work out. I can go to bed earlier at night. Hubby is in and out though the week, so I can set my own schedule. So, this week, I will aim for 6 hours of sleep a night . . . If I can get more . . . YAY!!! With that determined . . . I'd better finish sparking and get moving!!

    If you do not have a hard time waking at 4 am, then that might just be what works well for you. I bet you catch up over time, maybe going to bed real early the next night or something. Sending restful sleep wishes your way. It is nice to have the quiet time early in the morning. emoticon

    WOW!!! 4am... I had been waking up naturally at 5am, but then recently started using my alarm to get me up at 4:45... for me that is the absolute earliest I can do! :D I try to go to bed at 9:30, but usually that just does not happen. :D I love your commitment though, you're right, you'll already have all that time to do what you want to do before anyone else wakes up!!! emoticon

    I am the opposite -- I take my "time" after everyone has gone to bed. I have never been an early riser. I think it's great that you do so! I hope you can get more than 6 hours of sleep. Even when I stay up late -- I get 6.5 or more. And I usually nap a bit in the early evening.
