5K???

Our town will be having a 5k for our summer festival. In my head I have always wanted to do this but I am still obese and frankly a little scared. I have run/walked on the treadmill for 5k but it wasn't pretty! LOL! How do others train for something like this???

    The Mayo Clinic also has a program you can access on their website to prepare for a 5K. emoticon

    In addition to the aforementioned C25K program, get outside and walk. Just walk. Sign up for the 5k and walk it. Most races are indeed walker friendly.

    Try the couch2 5k program, and you can join the c25k spark team, it is set up to take 9 weeks but u can go at you own pace, basically doing intervals on the treadmill or out side, running for 1 min and walking for 2 min then upping the min you run each week.

New Fruit challange.

The gym that I work out at has started a weight loss support group. We meet once a week, weight in and share ideas and hints. Our trainer is the leader. This week we are challanged to try a new fruit, something that we have never tried before. I am not sure what I will try.

  Thanks for the suggestion CLSYLADY. We actually love kiwi! We eat a lot of fruits so I am having a difficult time. I picked some jicama, but when I looked it up to find out how to eat it I found out it is a veggie. LOL! It was with the fruits so I thought I was okay!!

5K today!!!!

Today when I walked into the gym at 5am my trainer greeted me with these words...Kim, give me a 5K next on the treadmill! I could not believe it, doesn't she see how much I weigh and how out of shape I am? Of course I didn't say that to her, I don't know how other trainers are but you don't argue with mine! LOL! So I got on the treadmill and 51.4 minutes later finished my 5K. It wasn't pretty and my body is not happy with me tonight but I did it!!!

3 minute run

Doesn't sound like much right? But when I started 5 weeks ago I could not run at all!!! My trainer has been adding a little speed here and there so that I was up to 1 and 1/2 min runs with my walk. She is on vacation and I have been working out by myself for a couple of days. Today I thought I would just run for as long as I could and I made it to 3 Minutes!!!!
Feel pretty good about it!!!!!
