Getting started again

Monday, July 12, 2010

My baby will be 5 months old on Friday and I have lost almost 20 of the 35 pounds I gained while pregnant. Most of those I lost during the first couple weeks. I really need to get motivated again and walk more (or swim). I also need to see if hubby will cook healthier meals for supper since I work full time. Maybe I will offer to chop some veggies the night before if possible because I know he doesn't like to do that.

You can do it! I am in the same boat all my baby weight came off in the first month and I have been stuck for a while. We can do this!!!

Congratulations on the new baby. You've lost 20# congratulations on that too.
This is a great team for support and motivation. Together, we can all do this!

Aww, congratulations on the baby and shedding so many pounds after the pregnancy. I'm "starting again" too on losing some weight (though I did not gain from pregnancy). Wishing you the best of luck!

I have been tired this week. It's probably because I was sick last week. I did sleep more than usual, but I guess that wasn't enough. I haven't been getting up in the morning to workout like I used to. I figured the only reason I was getting up was to go to the gym and use the elliptical but it always took me almost a half hour to wake up and get there. I sometimes did yoga in the morning and maybe sometimes I still will, but I wonder if I should do more yoga at night. I also like to play Dance Dance Revolution, but I can't do that in the morning because it wakes up the basement roommates. I am thinking that it would be better for me to have an extra hour at night rather than try to exercise early in the morning.

Tomorrow I have to travel to another town about 15 minutes farther away to work and back because I am supposed to go to another office for training. I'll probably do some shopping after work, too. There's a couple things I need that I can't get there.

You have to find what works best for you, for me I get up at 4:00 to go to work, but I get off at 2:00 and get home by 3:30. I make sure I put my bag in my car the night before so that I have no excuses to stopping at the fitness center before I get home and find a bunch of excuses not to exercise. Oh wait excuses don't work since I got the wii in November and use that when I don't go to the fitness center!

If you don't exercise in the morning remember to do it at night.

My dress is in!

Monday, March 09, 2009

So I got the postcard saying that my dress is in. The wedding is in a little over 10 weeks so I need to go in two to three weeks for my first fitting. I also have to call soon if I want a Saturday so I don't have to use PTO. I still need to get shoes and a new bra. I think the bra I have is a little big now. For shoes, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I'd like something with a little support. I can't really wear heels because my ankle would hurt. I'm short but at least, I won't be the shortest there even if I didn't wear heels. My MOH is 6 inches shorter than me and my fiance is only an inch or two taller than me.

Great that the dress is in. Go for comfort in the shoes, you will be on your feet for a while and it's important to be able to stay in your shoes! No one usually sees them anyway!

Congrats! Don't let your fiance see the dress at all. My wife never let me see hers and when I saw it for the first time when she started walking down the isle, I couldn't stop smiling.

I'm sure you'll find the right shoes. You still have quite a bit of time. My wife bought a basic pair and then spent some time making them stylish by adding gems and designs.

That is so exciting! I agree with the ballet slippers suggestion. They are really comfortable. Congrats!!!!!!

Oh how exciting the dress is here. I know you are going to look so lovely in it. It is also great that you have to get a new bro, not the expense but cause the pounds are gone.

I think ballet slippers would be comfortable. The only time the shoe is seen is when the groom takes the garter off to throw. Really no one is paying attention to the shoes at that time anyway.

I wore dancing shoes - ballroom - for my wedding. They are plain; but, very comfortable and supportive. No one really saw them since my dress was so long. Since height isn't an objective, you might try ballet slippers.

I have had ankle surgery and cannot wear heels anymore either. I wore 'flat pumps' for my wedding. They look like a classic pump, just with no heel. Added a clip made from beads to each to fancy them up a bit, and still wear the shoes today without the clip.

You could also look into some sort of fancy low boot, if you need the support around the ankle.

HTH and makes sense.

Can you get low heels? I haven't worn heels in so long I don't even know what they look like.
Good luck.

Yay South Dakota weather NOT!!!

Thursday, February 26, 2009

The last two days here were sunny and about 50 degrees. Now today, we have already had hail, freezing rain, thunder, and we are expecting a rain/sleet/snow mix for the rest of the day. The temperature is about 30 degrees. Why can't it stay warm?

I can relate..I live in Nebraska and the weather is nearly as crazy here. (It usually is a bit warmer, but not by much!) I am the most motivated to work out when it's warm and sunny, regardless of whether I'm doing it outside or inside. It's almost March so it will be getting warmer soon! Yay! :)

Not so good day

Monday, February 23, 2009

So today is one of those days when I would have liked to stay in bed. I am really tired today because I didn't sleep well until after 11:30 last night. I didn't get up at 5 to exercise because of it. I was excited to go for a walk today because the radio said the temp would be in the 40s. I looked online at noon and it was 28 degrees with wind gusts of 20 mph so I decided not to go. I didn't get to eat my raspberries today either. I bought them on Friday and they looked good, but they were starting to mold when I took them out of the fridge this morning. Right now, I just want to go home and go to bed, but I still have to cook supper and I don't think that my fiance will do it for me (or at least he won't have it ready for me when I get home). He always takes forever to do things and when we're cooking, I usually take over whatever he is doing so it gets done faster.

I have to go to the store and get more water tonight, too. I have decided that I am not going to do my roommate's dishes anymore and I can't fill up my water pitcher until the sink is cleared so I will just drink bottled water. I have 4 college roommates. The only thing that annoys me about them is that they never do their dishes. I am going to see how long it takes for them to do theirs. I will still do mine, but I will either have to put their dishes on the floor or wash mine in the bathtub (no other sinks in the house have hot water). Of course, this is PMS talking, so maybe I will give in and do all the dishes later this week.

Good thing is that I haven't had caffeine for over two weeks! I have pop once or twice a week, but no caffeine.

Roommates can be a hassle - I don't like dirty dishes in the sink! I think that would make me go crazy!

Boy, maybe it is time to set down with the roommates and remind them that they ALL eat there and then set up a schedule to take turns doing dishes. I would do the same thing you are doing....just wash mine after this long. That's not PMS. That's only fair. You are busy also.

I have days like this also. No energy. And I don't have college and studying to drag me down. When you need rest...take it. If it is just being lazy (I doubt it) then push through it with a little 10 minute session of exercise to get the blood pumping.

Hope you have a good supper and fall asleep fast tonight.

Step away from THEIR dishes. LOL

Wow, sounds like a Monday. Just stack those dishes to the side and if that is the only thing that annoys you, that's is pretty good considering there are 5 of you! Take care of yourself and it will be okay! Best wishes for a better day and week!

Definately sounds like one of those days. I am so afraid those roommates still won't do their dished especially if there are some clean ones left. Just and idea take your clean dishes and lock them up where they can't get to them. Put thier dirty ones in a box in the corner to mold. Then you can get to your water and wash your dishes that you then take and lock back up. They may get the hint.

Hang in there dear one, this too shall pass.

Here is a quick receipe that cooks itself.

1 lb lean hamburger
sliced onion
sliced potatoes like au gratin
slieced carrots buttons (if you like them)
English Peas or Green Beans (frozen)

Spray a baking dish with Pam, pat the hamburger meat into the botton until it is covered. Sprinkle with some pepper, garlic powder. Layer onion on top (save some for the very top) add the rest of veggies, sprinkle with pepper and garlic, put last onion on top. Cover with foil and bake in 350 degree oven for 1 hour.

Meat and veggies. You can put any veggies you like. My husband just likes potatoes and onion.

Tomorrow is another day.
