Back to Spark

Friday, December 02, 2011

Hi everyone who reads this. I am officially back to SparkPeople as of 12/1/2011. The past couple of months have been rough medically and personally, and my weight is up to 190. But I feel like I'm in a positive position to get back on track. I need to focus on a lot of things at home and with my health/weight loss, and I will not be very active in the teams for awhile. But I wanted to say hello to you all and I hope that you're doing well. Be well!

I'm glad to see you back! I know you were dealing with a lot - when you get a chance and feel up to it, stop by the GP team and share what's happened the past 2 months (or so). Start slow and take it easy - hopefully things will happen easier for you this time.

100-Day Challenge On Hold

Monday, October 10, 2011

So, my 100-day challenge has been officially put on hold. I had planned a restart date for later this week, but for right now it's indefinite. I'm in week 3 of a relentless miserable migraine, but at least i have an explanation for it now. I had polyps removed from my sinuses back in 2004, and they've grown back. It appears they're worse than they were then and are causing the pressure, pain and migraine. The steroid taper from last week actually reduced the sizes of the polyps, but I need surgery again. It's no big deal at all, just an endoscopic procedure over in an hour. I just won't be able to work out until I've recuperated. I was able to do some light exercise today and i'll do that as I'm able until the surgery. I'm also back on track with my diet and plan to maintain that. Thank you all for your support!

Hoping the surgery goes well and solves the problem.

emoticon I get migraines sometimes, but none that lasted over a day, I can't imagine having one for 3 weeks. I hope the surgery puts a stop to them, and that the pain eases up soon.

Glad you got an answer for why it's been so bad. Do what you can until they fix it, but don't overdo it. Soon enough you'll be able to get back at it.

Day 45

Tuesday, October 04, 2011

I'm almost halfway through my 100 day challenge, and I'm not feeling very optimistic. I'm on day 11 of this miserable migraine and really want it to end. I know I'm feeling down because of the migraine and I'll be fine once it's over. And I'm completely off-track with exercise and calories. I started a steroid taper this morning and I'm hoping to feel well tomorrow, but we'll see. Sometimes these things seem to last forever.

Have you gone through any studies to find if a food or allergen is causing your migranes? I know many things can cause them, but sometimes just removing a food or an allergen can clear them up.

I know it isn't part of the plan, but have you considered maybe pausing your challenge for a few days and picking it up again after maybe 3-7 days? It's not like you planned to have your migranes get this bad, so maybe relaxing on it a bit (and not worrying about it at all) can help.

Day 39

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

Today is Day 39 of my 100 day challenge, and things are going OK. It is also day 5 in a week of daily migraines, and I'm SO very tired of it. This isn't unusual for me, but it's so *#%! annoying. My eating is on track, but i would REALLY love to workout. I'm hoping tomorrow is better.

Day 30 - One Month Down

Monday, September 19, 2011

Today is the last day of the first full month of my challenge. Reflecting back, I think that i did well but have plenty of room for improvement. After a couple of bouts of illness my workouts are still not back on par, but I'll work on that through the week. My eating has been great with the exception of going a bit overboard this past weekend with the muffins for the pantry breakfast. The good news is that they were the big hit of the breakfast and we had none leftover. Overall, I am pleased with what I have accomplished this past month, and my goal is to improve on that; even if only a little.

Be proud of yourself! You might not have hit every goal, but you did what you could when you could. You've spent 30 days living healthier. Bumps in the road came, but you returned to it and kept trying. I remember you saying you tend to give up about day 7 - you blew that out of the water! Of course, it doesn't end here. Set some new goals and/or revamp the ones you have for what worked and what didn't in the past 30 days. Give yourself a pat on the back and keep going. I look forward to your next 30 days.
