Goodness i just realised I have not been blogging this week! I have missed it! I survived my 3 nightshifts - one of those we had patients and the other 2 were had none! I did chart reviews for 10 hours one of the nights and then relaxed the other :) I discovered though that by walking around the circuit of the PICU I could get in some good walking :) While I was away working though I went to Curves each day and I came to the realisation that working nights is a great thing - I can go to Curves before working and after sleeping! If I was working 12 hour days Curves is not open that early or that late :) SO BONUS!
I am enjoying visiting another Curves and there machines feel that there is more resistance (or so I think), they have 1 machine less than my home gym but all the ladies there are so nice! Actually the other day I met a lady who went hiking down and back up the grand canyon and she did it for the first time when she was in her 60's and her friend was 75! They have since done it many times! Man talk about feeling like a lazy slug!! This lady is quite elderly and was amazing! She did say though that the next time she is taking the mule!
I had joined the penpals sparkteam and this week wrote a letter to New Zealand and have also sent off some postcards to other people :) When I got home from working I was thrilled to receive a letter (thanks Debby!). I am loving SP so much and am loving all the support and new friends I am making...
We are on countdown here for my niece, that is coming from New Zealand in less than 3 weeks for her first trip to the States. I am planning a trip to Disneyland and was thrilled today that I found a motel across the street, has a 2 bedroom suite with 3 queen beds all for $127 for 3 nights! YAY! We are all getting so excited! And we can walk to Disneyland from our motel!
Well hubby has cooked me dinner so see ya all later!
It is another beautiful day here in AZ :) We are on a countdown until my niece gets here from New Zealand for a visit! 23 days to go!
I have been having a great Labor weekend :) Last night we went to a movie evening at a friends place - was an awesome movie "Letters to God" was very emotional but a great movie and very motivational! Today we have our church labor picnic at 2pm and I am taking a fruit platter, planning on making good choices :) Then this evening we have birthday celebration #2 for DD! We have friends coming over for dinner - Sheree makes awesome mashed potatoes according to DD and that is her requested food! LOL! We are also going to have turkey and veges from my garden....of course there is birthday cake #2, slightly biger than the one last week :) It is a red velvet cake, I may need to take a sliver but will decide later once I have worked out all my calories after the picnic :)
I have 2 hours until this nightshift is over :) We have had no patients in our small PICU tonight but I kept busy doing abstraction from patient records for the national registry for NICU....I have had frequent breaks and I am almost done!
This is not what I went to nursing school for but it opens your eyes when you are reviewing charts and makes me think of ways that I could chart better :)
I will be taking a small nap and then driving home to my family
I have 3 nights off and have plans for my Monday We are having a church labor day picnic and then in the evening we are having celebration #2 for DD birthday
Oh yeah and guess what happened tonight at work............I had dinner with a friend and she was buying me dinner (she owed me!), well before I realized she had bought me some fries with my dinner and I was eating them!!!!!! I did not even think about it until about the 10th frie and then I was thinking "what am I doing?"!!! I am disappointed in myself and the sad thing is that they were not even that good! Anyhow I came back to the unit and gave them to another nurse and he had no problem finishing them off for me What a good friend!
So anyhow it is logged and everytime I look at my food for today I kick myself! gggrrrr!
Anyhow onwards and upwards..........

I am soo excited to report that I am eating more and I lost weight when I weighed this morning! Down 1.2 pounds in 5 days! I have also been a little slack with the exercise during this time as I have a sore back :( I am planning on trying to go to Curves today and see how my back does! I have been walking though with my pedometer and have averaged 7500 steps/day.
Yesterday was the DD's 16th birthday and all went well on the calories! She had wanted homemade hamburgers and oven fries, we even had a small birthday cake - she has 2 more celebrations coming up! We are having another birthday dinner with family friends on Monday and then we are having the "Sweet 16" party October 2nd - she had wanted to wait until her cousin is here from New Zealand! They have not seen each other (apart from on skype!) for 10 years so we are all pretty excited about her visit!

First of all I would like to thank you all for your support about my frustration last week with the scales
I took to heart the advice that I received and I upped my calorie intake but yesterday I did not get to my calories :( The problem is that when I work nights I have trouble getting my calories in, I count my calories midnight to midnight. I have been having snacks etc but of course I miss a meal when I am sleeping and then in the evenings/night I am doing patient care so I need to work more on healthy snacks that I can eat quickly between patients..
I have 2 more nights left so will try better
