Thanks for your support

Monday, August 30, 2010

First of all I would like to thank you all for your support about my frustration last week with the scales emoticon
I took to heart the advice that I received and I upped my calorie intake emoticon but yesterday I did not get to my calories :( The problem is that when I work nights I have trouble getting my calories in, I count my calories midnight to midnight. I have been having snacks etc but of course I miss a meal when I am sleeping and then in the evenings/night I am doing patient care so I need to work more on healthy snacks that I can eat quickly between patients..
I have 2 more nights left so will try better

Good luck! I can see how this would be difficult for you. I think you are doing great with trying to get it to work for you though.

Would it be possible for you to pack a big pot of something like, um, say pasta and tuna salad, and keep dipping into it at intervals through the night? I'm just thinking that if you can have something with protein, carbs, some veggies and a nice dressing that you can keep going back to it might help.
Hugs,

Yes, crazy hours can really throw you off balance.
Frequent snacks sound like a good idea so you can keep up your energy for you and your patients. Best wishes.

Working crazy hours is really a challenge I am sure. I would have difficulty myself, but I'm sure you will find balance. Keep trying and hang in there. We care!

Frustrated!

Friday, August 27, 2010

I am so frustrated! Weighed myself this morning and gained weight! How is this possible?
Here is my weekly progress chart:
Calories: 8/21 1289
8/22 1201
8/23 988
8/24 973
8/25 750
8/26 1107

plus I drank all my water and exercised :(

Well, I am off to Curves and hope to find my motivation there!

Not enough food. Up your calories to minimally 1200/day. Keep exercising. You'll see results.

It sure looks like you are NOT eating enough. Check it out. Your average was only averaging about 1000 a day and that is Way below the Minimum just to maintain your body weight .. .. and exercising besides.. best recheck your calories...SP never recommends below 1200 per day.

SparkPeople advises us not to get less than 1200 calories per day if we are women. When you do, then your body's metabolism changes and it is harder to lose weight.

Most likely what SINGER73 said it true. Your body isn't getting enough calories, so it has gone into starvation mode and will hang onto every ounce of food you put in..
Try upping your calories or changing to some sort of different exercise then what you are used to.
Drink plenty of water to flush out the impurities and fat cells. Don't give up or give in, you are worth the effort and we all understand what you are going through. You will get past this. Keep working at it and before you know it you ill see a drop in your weight.
But please, don't let the scale define how well you are or aren't doing. Maybe step away from the scale for a while and just concentrate on eating healthy and exercising, this way you know you are doing good things for your body, even if the scale isn't budging. Then hoefully by the next time you weigh, you will see that loss you've worked so hard for.

Hang in there the scales can fluctuate! It's probably just water variance. Are you close to monthly change? If you stay within your cals it will show your loss. Singer has a good point...if you are going under your recommended calories your body will go into starvation mode which means it will hold onto everything you eat to protect itself. Make sure you are within your range-not under!! We are here for ya

I think the problem is that you are not eating enough. Yes I said it. You are not eating enough. Women should not eat below 1200 calories. You body needs at least that much to function. So eating below 1000 is not recommended until you are under a doctor's care. Give it a try and I'm sure that you will see results.

Give it a few days or even a week it will show.
As an extreme example I once spent a week doing really well, like REALLY well and that included a day (as in 14 hours) of walking around Chicago. I weighed myself at the end of the week and I kid you not I gained 2 pounds,,, i promptly ate a cheesesteak and cried, but then got back on the wagon and was reasonably good (if sad) the following week.
Next weigh in, I'd dropped 6 pounds.
keep up the good work and it will show up!

Trying to stay awake.....

Thursday, August 26, 2010

Just an update........
I worked last night, was my last shift for the week! So had a 2 hour power nap and then drove 100 miles home to my family.....now I am home - DH has gone to look at a car with a friend, DS is at music pratice at church and DD is heading off to babysit! Why did I come home again? Just me and the cat!! Actually it is good cause I am having a "trying to stay awake" day so that I can sleep tonight and be back to normal hours for my days off emoticon
I have some busy days off.....planning on hitting Curves tomorrow, then have a bible study in the evening and it is also a friend's 40th birthday - I will try to stay on track and have a small piece of cake, then Saturday night another friend is having his 50th birthday celebration and then Sunday another friend is having a surprise 50th lunch at a restaurant! So I will be weighing in tomorrow morning!
I am having a day off from exercising today as I am trying to conserve my energy to keep functioning!
Hope you are all having a great day!

And so it goes on.....

Thursday, August 26, 2010

Well just wanted to check in and let y'all know that I am on track with my exercise! YAY! I slept well today (that is really yesterday now!) and I got up and went to Curves and had a good workout, am visiting at another Curves while I am down here working and it all went well. I also had on my pedometer and over the last 24 hours I had stepped 7556 so I am happy. The problem that I find with nightshift is getting in enough calories! I only had 700 and something :( I slept from 9-5pm!
This is my 3rd nightshift and then I am off for a few days.......
emoticon I have done super getting in all my water and then some!

It seems like you were right on track with keeping those machines at Curves warm, even working out of town.
You have earned a few good days off.
Rest Well!

My Tuesday

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

I am a little late writing my blog but wanted to let you all know how my exercise plan is going.....
I worked Monday nightshift and did not really do anything :(
Today slept really well, woke at 5pm, went to Curves before coming to work for another nightshift. I also had over 6000 steps in today too! Then I decided to do my strength exercises - now my butt hurts! Hahaha!
I will sleep tomorrow (or is that today now?) and then go to Curves again before coming back for my 3rd nightshift :)
Well, had better get back to my patients :)

I will put up with the sore Butt if it means that muscle is getting toned. Mine has been hurting but I think it is because of all the walking lately.
