Trainer Session #3

Thursday, June 13, 2013

As expected, this morning I felt muscles I did not know that I had.......but back to the gym I went! emoticon
So glad that I did, we did shoulders and abs today! I am sure I will feel it tomorrow! emoticon
I started off on the treadmill and then did some weights and abdominal exercises, finished up on the treadmill as my cool down.
I am so excited to be on this journey with my trainer, I know that I can do it!
Today another 'exerciser' told me that Kayla had lost over 100 pounds! I am so impressed now and know that if she can do it, so can I! I have the perfect trainer that understands my journey!
emoticon

Tonight I am working, actually I am working the next 3 nights so will blog when I can while at work emoticon I plan on continuing with my squats, lunges and crunches while I am away! Meet with Kayla again on Monday afternoon!

Day # 2 with trainer

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

Well, I am loving my trainer, Kayla emoticon This morning was my 2nd session with her and I worked hard.......harder than I thought I could! When I arrived, she asked me if I had my sunglasses.....why? Cause we are going outside! emoticon So glasses on and off we went with me carrying 10 pound weights in each hand! We walked around the building - oh did I say walk???? I mean power walking and I had to keep up with her!! Then off to a grassy area with partial shade where I did step-ups with and without the weights, calf lifts with and without the weights, jumping jacks with one weight and without, lunges and squats! Somehow, it doesn't seem that much now that I am writing it.......but believe me it was!! Was 30 mins worth! I am sure my heart is wondering what happened, still! emoticon
I am glad that I did it!!

Now am relaxing with my protein shake..........

I survived the gym!

Monday, June 10, 2013

I am so glad that I went to the gym today! emoticon I worked hard with a trainer! I have joined Anytime Fitness and am excited to get on with my program emoticon I met with my trainer and we went through a few things first, we were on the same page about a number of things, so I think she is the right trainer for me! We talked about the changes that I have made so far in my diet and she was in full agreement with my eating plan! We talked about my goals and she thought that I was a little ambitious on my weight loss, so we revised my goal to another 16 pounds by October 7th when I see my cardiologist. emoticon She does not want me weighing myself though, we are going to go by my fat % and BMI which I totally agree with but I am kinda addicted to the scales! We agreed that I would weigh once a week seeming as I am on the 5% challenge! We did my fat analysis and I was 2% less than last Monday when I measured myself with the same kind of machine!
We did upper body today, will do lower body another day and then cardio! I worked hard today and would of given up way earlier if it had not been for her encouragement! When I was ready to stop, she would ask, "how much do you want this?" and that would give me the extra push I needed. We also realized that she lives just a few doors down the street from me! We thought each other looked familiar! emoticon For me, I think a trainer is what I need to keep me accountable right now emoticon So I have signed up for their transformation program and will work with Kayla 3 times a week!

I am excited to be on track and have a plan! Oh forgot to say that I lifted 30 pounds!! And curled 40 pounds, but it was a half curl for now! I am going to have muscles before I know it!

A good couple of nights of work

Saturday, June 08, 2013

Worked the last 2 nights, glad to be back home now :) Have 5 nights off! Had a good time at work.

The first night I bought a salad from Smashburger! Oh my! Did not work out the calories etc beforehand and it contained over 700 calories! I had plenty to use, so that was OK but could not believe it! Our secretary had a birthday and there were cupcakes, but they were 350 calories each and I did not partake! emoticon

I also added another person to my support team!! He is a respiratory therapist and works out 5 times a week, so he was giving me tips and encouraging me to stand by my plan!

At work, as part of my employee benefits I get to sign up for globalfit, which gives me a good discount for anytime fitness. I am looking forward to meeting up with my trainer on Monday.

It still amazes me just how many calories can be in a salad made for you compared to the salads made by you. Great job on passing up the cupcakes. I know that couldn't have been easy. Nice that your benefits give you a break on a fitness center. Mine allows me to join the "Y" and curves.....makes me happy. emoticon Have a great Sunday.

Free trial at the gym today

Thursday, June 06, 2013

Well I went for my free trial at Anytime Fitness today! Wow do I have a long way to go! But the main thing is to start, right? I can only improve from here! After looking all around, they asked if I would like to workout, sure no problem! Wrong! I had never been on an elliptical machine, looked easy enough.....I lasted 5 minutes!!! emoticon heart rate was in the 150's and my legs were like jello when I was done! I go to work tonight but am going back on Monday to join up and meet with a trainer!

Will keep updating how it is going!

Good for you! My challenge is the elliptical machine right now also. I have to do intervals of one minute fast and then back off, but I'm just going to slowly keep pushing until I can do it an hour. We can both do this!!

emoticon I am a member at Anytime Fitness, too!! (My Curves closed in December).
emoticon I only lasted on the Elliptical for 2 Minutes my First Time on the Elliptical. Now it is My Favorite Machine!! I have to limit my time on it because it has started bothering my hip. But I DO Love it!!

What Fit4Me said ;) Gotta have distraction. Watching the numbers tick by gets really boring! I read, along with headphones on!

My first elliptical experience lasted all of 1.5 mins. Next day, I went 20mins. Next day, as I really got the hang of controlling the movements... I went a full 60 mins! Well, that and had 2 veteran elliptical users beside me, and we gabbed the entire time.

Now, I get on... our Y has free wifi... and I have bluetooth headphones. I use my droid tablet balanced where a book would go... to read a kindle book while listening to my SiriusXM stations ;) Find when a song I really love comes up, even tho' I don't really notice so much, my pace and heart rate go into overdrive!

My 1 month free trial at the Y has turned into 11 months so far. My first go on the elliptical was rough; I had to push to get that 5 minutes in. I have/can do 1 hour plus now, but only if I have a book.

I have never been on an elliptical machine. However, my pastor had problems with it, but his doctor said that is because he is male and the machine is easier on women. Evidently men's hips are such that the elliptical puts stress on their knees. I guess it has to do with the direction the leg bones go.
