Back to Curves!

Monday, November 14, 2011

I did it!!! Today I went back to Curves - the first time since hurting my shoulder! Curves recommended that I did not do Curves Smart today and just try out the machines - there were 3 that they suggested that I did not try - so I worked the machines for 30 mins emoticon
I found that alot of the stretches hurt though, so did about half the stretches for about 5mins. I feel so good that I went though! I plan on taking tomorrow off and go again on Wednesday! When I got home, my shoulder was a little achy but I have not taken any motrin yet, may need to later!

Also more good news.....we have been having a busy time of marching band with my daughter being a senior and sectional leader! Last weekend we went to State and got through to the championships! This Saturday was the championship and they did great! We are a small town and our band has 50 members including flag - we won 6th place!! We are so excited to be rated 6th in the state in their division! Last year was the first time that we had got to State so this is huge!!! I am so glad that the seniors are going out on such a high! In a few weeks they also go to Hawaii for the Pearl Harbor commemoration! They were selected last year to perform and have been busy raising money!

Thankful for my children

Thursday, November 03, 2011

Today as I continue to count my blessings and all that I am thankful for - today would be for the gift from God of my children - Melissa, Rachel and Jesse. They have all enriched my life and taught me many things! Melissa was only with us for a brief visit but packed a lifetime of memories and lessons into those short days, Rachel is always showing her love and her gentleness to others - she is a blessing to all that she meets! Jesse is our baby and he teaches us so many things too from a boy's perspective! Both of them are now teenagers but still love to snuggle with their mom, something that I treasure everyday! They both tell me everyday that they love me! I am truly blessed emoticon emoticon emoticon

I, too, am thankful for my children. I had a total of 15 pregnancies, 9 of which were miscarriages, and 6 live births. My 3 sons and 3 daughters have immensely enriched my life. God was so gracious to grant them to me!

Algebra and hot chocolate

Wednesday, November 02, 2011

I am so thankful that I have the best husband in the world! And here starts my month of thankfulness! Today while I was working on my algebra paper, my sweet husband made us hot chocolate for on this cool day! emoticon
I am now enjoying my coffee with cool whip before starting my 2 hour drive to work! He has put my packed bag in my truck which he washed earlier today! Yep! I am blessed!

Medical Update

Tuesday, November 01, 2011

I am so frustrated with my shoulder! I am still in pain and have not been able to go to Curves! emoticon I have been back to my doctor and have had an xray (that was fine) and then on Thursday I had a MRI. Yesterday I heard that the MRI shows arthritis! I am now waiting to go see a rheumatologist. I live in a small town and the only rheumatologist up here is not in network, but does take my insurance. So now my doctor is putting in an application for me to see this specialist in network - they said it could take days - 2 weeks to get the approval! Meanwhile I am chugging back motrin. I am trying to keep moving even though it is hurting! Does anyone who has arthritis got any advice for me! Is there something diet wise that I could be doing too? I am open to any suggestions! I read on the internet that I should keep active, should I wait to see the rheumatologist before trying to go back to Curves? I have not been very good at loggin either, but it is time to climb out of this rut, this pain is not going to get me down! I am done with feeling sorry for myself, now it is time to get going!!!

Warm moist heat.........antiinflammatories (Aleve, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Tylenol..) whichever you feel works and your stomach can tolerate.... Epsom salted moist towels to painful areas....... move but slow it down. Keep moving... keep moving... maybe not use the machines at Curves on the shoulders... OR slower and less exertion and use them....

You might want to try MSM JOINT Health, a natural supplement. It worked real good for me. God Bless, Vic.

I would go to Curves, (just don't do the machines that cause pain). That should make the time pass more quickly! I took Aleve when my shoulder hurt. Only 2 per day.
I'm 72 and I'm sure I have arthritis, but I keep moving and it doesn't hurt very often. Getting up when I've been on my knees sucks, but once I'm up again it doesn't keep hurting. I did have a rotator cuff injury, but after PT, it only twinges once in a while. Do keep doing a lot of walking, the endorphins help moderate any pain you have.

What ever you do, don't give up!

Gentle exercise. Move it or lose the ability to move it!

I do have it in my hips and I try to keep active. There are days when I think that I am not going to move at all but when I do my exercise I always feel better. Granted it may hurt some but I do not want to be confined to a wheel chair so do what I can every day! Good luck!

emoticonI wish I could give you some good advice, but I will be saying Prayers that your Pain is relieved quickly.
Maybe try going to Curves and only doing the machines that don't affect / aggravate the shoulder? My only other suggestion would be to increase your Walking if possible. The activity will get those Exercise Endorphins running and THAT is always good!!

YES, keep active for sure....Physical therapy will help too, with instructions for safe mobility.

For me, to keep my arthritis at bay, being 67 in 6 days....you KNOW I have it....but osteo, not RA....I follow a regimen of lots of anitoxidants. It is so helpful to your joints to take them. I like my liquid Glucosamine-chrondrotin too. Goes into the joint tissues quicker than the pill form. Hope that helps!

Cardiologist Visit!

Monday, October 03, 2011

This morning I had my follow-up appointment with my cardiologist....first of all his assistant freaked me out because he kept asking if I felt alright!!! Why? Is something wrong??? I asked him and he said no and that the doctor would be in! Freaked out, could feel my blood pressure rising!
Then my cardiologist arrived, who I love emoticon All my numbers were perfect and he was really pleased with how well I had done since my last visit! emoticon We even discussed halving my meds, but because everything was so perfect, we decided to recheck in 6 months and then if all is good we will look at my meds! My good cholesterol had also gone up! I told him about his assistant!
So all is good, thank you SP and Curves! Though it has been a month since I have been to curves :( He also checked my shoulder, agreed with my other doctor, so it is just walking for now! Had a good early morning walk today, just hope that the temps have cooled some when I go back to Phoenix on Thursday night so that I can be walking down there too!

Glad that things are going good enough that he wants to cut your medications in half. I would love for my doctor to say that to me. Guess I'll have to work a little harder.
