Sparking Daughter!

Saturday, August 20, 2011

My daughter was watching me log in all my food and now she wants to do it too! She is only 102 pounds but wants to make sure she is eating healthy! She is a high school senior this year and in marching band! I think that it is a good foundation for good eating habits in the future! Now she is reading this over my shoulder!! LOL!

That is great, see what a great example you are to your child. My son and daughter are in Marching Band as well. Daughter plays the flute and Son plays the sousaphone which is a Tuba, I don't knwo if I spelled it right though.

I am thinking that if she reads the articles about exercise and nutrition, she could learn quite a bit!

That's awesome Christine! My daughter is 11, so is waiting to be old enough to be a Spark Teen. She knows all about the program and can't wait. Funny, I just posted a blog about her yesterday, and the whole BMI with kids thing. She weighs 102 also (is 4'10"), and is a total muscle power house, yet because of that, her BMI makes her overweight. Crazy, ancient charts....she eats well and lives a healthy lifestyle, so I'm not worried, but the whole image thing it projects on kids is crazy.
Hope she has a blast with ST!

For the nutritious value of it, I think it is a good idea. Of course, you will need to help her calculate the numbers of calories, she needs to maintain or increase her weight, depending her her needs.

Be cautious, make sure she understands, what is needed.

Rodeo Parade Day

Saturday, August 20, 2011

today was our rodeo parade, this year I was on the Curves float! They took some photos, so will see if I get to post any! We played Zumba music and I moved the whole time while waving the big curves flag! I can feel it in my shoulders and arms! Can I count this in my exercize? Was a lot of fun!

My daughter was in her high school marching band and was just 2 groups ahead, I love listening to our high school band! I am a proud band parent!

I certainly think it would count as exercise!

I would count it at least as mild exercise, maybe more depending on how much you feel it and how strenuous it was! :)

Going down~

Thursday, August 18, 2011

This morning, I weighed myself after being away from home working for 6 nights! I am down another 2.8 pounds! YAY!
Today, took my husband for a belated birthday lunch, checked the nutritional facts first and made good choices and am still on track! I feel great, not over full!
Will go to Curves later today! My friend, Susan, told me about yoga on netflix, so last night added some to my instand play queue and today have enrolled for water aerobics at work!
Hope that everyone is doing well....

Zumba and Curves

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

I went to zumba this morning at Curves and then straight after did my usual circuit workout! Felt great! Today I am track with my eating.....I am using the SP plan to give me ideas. I do not always have what they suggest, but today I have got some good ideas! For breakfast: fresh blueberries and activia blueberry yogurt, wholewheat toast with PB, coffee :) For lunch I had tuna mixed with ranch dressing, chopped celery, chopped walnuts and raisins; placed in pita bread - had to share some tuna with the cat though! I am going to finish up with an apple :) For dinner I have salmon out, but have to find a recipe to grill it on the BBQ - any ideas, let me know!

My favorite ways to do salmon on the grill is brushed with a bit of real maple syrup or with lots of fresh lime juice and fresh ground pepper.
