Working

Saturday, July 02, 2011

So far so good on my plan for working and exercizing! Today I went to Curves before coming to work! emoticon I had a good workout, though I missed my curves smart! I also walked 12000 steps! I have been having healthy snacks too while I am at work :) Trying to keep my protein up. Today I slept really well which I am sure is due to my exercize and healthy eating!
Also introduced SP to a lady at Curves who is going to check it out :)

The Start of my work week!

Thursday, June 30, 2011

Well, my days off are over and it is time to go back to work tonight for 6-7 nightshifts! I am making plans for food, my biggest issue this week is getting in enough protein, so am taking my isagenix shake and some yogurt with me. As I have stated before one of the biggest challenges is that I am away from home for the nights that I work, staying with a friend.
I got a visitors pass for Curves while I am away, just have to find one close to my friends place. Otherwise I bought new walking shoes today! I have my resistance bands packed - thanks Ted for the idea! I am worried about gaining weight while I am away, so think of me and I will try to be extra careful in my choices!
I do not want to take a backward step!
Today I went for a quick walk before it got too hot and have been to Curves. Have my new pedometer on and I love it! I found today that it keeps a total of the time that I have been walking! Awesome!
I will be checking in while I am working.....when my little patients allow me to that is! I am also taking my laptop to my friends, so I will be online when I am awake! God and you are my lifeline this week!
Thanks for your support!

Walking

Wednesday, June 29, 2011

Just wanted to blog that I did go for that walk after dinner, dragged DH & DS with me emoticon Where we live we have a beautiful lake, so we walked twice around - according to my pedometer I have walked 2.19 miles emoticon I am concerned what I am going to do for exercise when I go away for a week for work! Tomorrow I am going to Curves and then work tomorrow night. I work 12 hour nights, am wondering about getting up early (like 4pm) and finding a mall to walk around. It will be way too hot to walk outside - I am going to Phoenix. I am also thinking about doing some SP exercises in my room or at work if we are not too busy! Will keep you posted, plus I will be wearing my pedometer!

I am going away for a convention this weekend. I recently found out my hotel has a small gym. I'll be hitting the treadmill. Not my favorite way to get my miles in but, I can do it.

Ted has some good ideas. I'll try to incorporate into my weekend too. Thanx Ted.

Enjoy your day today!
Keep Sparkling.

Will you be staying at a hotel? If so, they may have a small gym with a treadmill or elliptical... Otherwise, finding a mall is a good idea, if you have a jump rope, skipping rope 1 minute at a time, rest three and repeat 30 times may be an option too... Skipping rope is a wonderful cardio workout... Bring an exercise band too... Good luck,

Blessings, Ted emoticon emoticon

Zumba Wednesday!

Wednesday, June 29, 2011

Hi, I went and survived! I finally did it! I went to my first Zumba class this morning at my curves! It was fun! There were just 3 in my class this morning, I am uncordinated and was worried about keeping up, I did mess up in the beginning (well actually the first 2 songs!) but it was still fun! We discussed it at the end and they tell me that I will get the hang of it and the main thing is to keep moving, which I did emoticon emoticon The instructor showed me that basic steps, so I will try to go each week and get the steps down!
I also got a new pedometer today (who knows what happened to my old one!) this one is the curves one and it tells steps, miles, as well as calories emoticon Yesterday I bought new bathroom scales - I can not read the dial anymore :( My husband tells me to wear my glasses! Anyhow got a digital one that you can save your weight and then it tells you if you have lost or gained or stayed the same! Clever little thing! Anyhow weighed myself when I got it yesterday and this morning was down 1.8 pounds from then, but I weigh in the morning and the first weigh was in the afternoon, so will see what I am tomorrow morning and take that weight, I go back to work tomorrow night for 6 (maybe 7) nightshifts! That will be my challenge as I will be away from home for a week!
I was looking at the goals that I had originally set in my fitness tracker and I am already over double the calories that I had set to burn each week as well I am over the minutes I had set for the week, may need to revise those goals!
After my Zumba, met my husband for lunch at Wendy's - had the new berry almond salad (half size) with the wild berry iced tea - a total of 340 calories! It was yummy and refreshing emoticon
If it wasn't for the fact that it is 93 degrees outside, I would take a walk. Fortunately we live at 5000 ft so it cools in the evenings.....will aim to take that walk this evening when the temp cools off.
Hope that you are all having a great summers day too!

It's additive that's for sure. We have three different zumba instructors and I really like one of them, the routine is fast and the music more hip hop than latin. Keep it up!! just remember to keep your knees bent to help prevent the knee injuries that come with zumba : )

Big kudos for trying something new! I keep thinking about zumba, but that's as far as I've gotten.

I got a digital scale last year that saves my info and keeps track of gain vs loss, and I LOVE it! I don't think I could ever go back to my original scale.

Love zumba classes! I go to as many as I can. Last year when I started the spark I only did zumba classes on the weekends and some exercises in the week and I lost 10 pounds my first month! So keep it up! And if the scale doesn't move but you eat right, the inches will definitely disappear!

Terrific Tuesday!

Tuesday, June 28, 2011

I am still on track and have been logging all my food and water as I go through my day. I have been leaving my computer on with sparkpeople page on so that I can just walk past and log my food! Went to Curves again today - it was an alternative day but I still burned 360 calories and for those that do Curves my PI was 211. Tomorrow I am planning on going to my first zumba session at curves, they offer 2 options at my curves - either a 30 mins session with no machines or 1 min machines and then 1 min zumba, the said that they will adjust my curves smart for zumba. Does anyone do the curves zumba and want to offer any advice?

I have heard LOTS of good, positive feedback from others, but our Curves doesn't do Zumba. And to be honest, I don't want to try it because my knees can still be a little touchy at times.
I'm looking forward to hearing what you think.

I haven't done the curves zumba, but I did do a video of Zumba which was pretty lively.
