Back to Curves

Well, when I got to Curves this morning - it was all different! Even my card would not work! I had not been back since Nov 17th!!!! Did not think it had been that long :( Anyhow, now have a new card, worked out the new circuit and I can feel my glutes and thigh muscles now! YAY! I feel so good for having gone! My curves is also having zumba classes! But I will not be able to go this week due to my scheduling, I got a copy of the schedule though! I also got my visitor card for when I am down working so that I can keep going.........
So I have met my goal for the day! I have also "upped" the water I am drinking today too.....baby steps!

It has been over a month since I have been on here! I have been slacking off - well not really - we have had a round of illnesses in our house as well as I have been working lots of extra shifts etc. I am in the process of transferring from the NICU to the PICU. I know excuses huh! But I have been trying to keep on track, did not throw it all to the way side, I have not been to Curves either in forever, so that is my goal today to take myself there and get moving!
Will check in to let you know how it goes!

Testing Tuesday!

Hi there, just realised that is is almost a week since I blogged! So what has been happening in my world??
I have been busy with work, but things are now getting quieter - shhhhh that is not something that we say outloud around here! Then I have also been busy with my side job - visiting precious babies at home! I love doing that! Then on top of that I have 2 teenagers - my son was sick at the end of last week, but back to school this week!
Then on top of all that, I got an infection on my nose! I get this from time to time - today my doctor said that I have cellulitis! It is caused by wearing certain types of masks when I am looking after patients in isolation! So now I need to pay attention to what mask I get when I have an isolation patient :( Anyhow he put me on antibiotics and a cream at night, bless his heart he also gave me refills in case it flares up again. So I have a year to get my refills - I love my doctor!
Then also today I heard sad news from the indian reservation that a lot of my home visits are on - there has been a string of unsolved murders already this year and so they are announcing a curfew and also telling people to be more careful! The last 2 times I have been, I had heard of 2 people that had been killed! So needless to say when they told me today I was very nervous as I have visits to do next week! I have been talking with the county back and forth all day! The decision has now been made that I cannot return to the reservation at this time for my own safety which makes me very sad but I understand! I am to call my families and arrange for them to bring the babies to the health dept so I can do my checks there, the thing is that this reservation is a very poor one so I have concerns! :(
Then also I heard that my friend, Sarah (SARAHTAIT) and her husband are having medical problems - Jesse is a diabetic and she could not wake him on Sunday and he is in ICU, things do not sound good. Please pray for him as well as visit her page and offer her our SP support! She is the reason that I joined SP!
So as you see I have had a testing Tuesday!
On a bright note - I have lost weight! Oh and I forgot to mention that my daughter is going for her drivers permit tomorrow - I am not ready!

    Prayers and positive thoughts for your SP friend and her husband. I hope he is improving! Great job on the weight loss! Your safety is the priority and it takes precidence. Hang in there and keep SPARKING!!

    I am hoping that the parents who have to come to the health department can arrange for transportation.

I have been praying for Jesse and Sarah.

Congrats on losing weight!

Driver's permit! I remember those days. Most of my kids did just fine and the one who tested my patience since she was over-confidant is now a Mom and a much more cautious driver!

    I am sorry to hear about the murders. That is awful!
It is best to be safe, and I hope the families with the babies you care for are able to get to you instead.
Keeping your friends in my thoughts too, and your poor nose. :-)
May your daughter and her permit be safe. :-) We Mums are never ready for this kind of thing.

Skipping!

Yep, that is right! I am skipping! I bought a skipping rope today - it is a gold gym one from walmart - investment of $6......so got the husband to help shorten the length and I am now skipping! The most I have achieved is 26 skips before stopping! It is a great workout! My skipping rope has weights in the handles, I have taken them out to get started and will add them back as I go along! It is so icy and snow outside, so we found a cleared part on our concrete and off I went! Goodness, don't think I have done this since I was 12!! Am having so much fun! Go back to work tonight and am taking my skipping rope with me!
For those on the Lemon Team, I have imputed my weight today and also my measurements. I am a day early, but once I go back to work I will be too late! I was very frustrated this morning with our scales - it gave me 3 different weights! I weighed myself multiple times, there was a lower weight that it kept giving me and a heavier one too, so I took the middle weight! I also measured and have lost since beginning the challenge! Husband is buying new scales for me!

  That is going to be so much fun! I used to be on a jump rope team in "middle school" and could triple dutch. The synchronized routines we learned looked so cool! It'll be great!

    I have not progressed as far as skipping since my jumping ability is still somewhat limited (plus my balance is not ideal). When I first started trying to jump, I held onto the counter top in the kitchen to give me a boost plus stability. Now I can jump slightly without hanging on. Progress!

    I used to love skipping, but sadly it no longer loves me. :-)
Never mind. I enjoy other cardio that loves me more.
I'm glad you are enjoying it, and the weights in the handles is a brilliant idea. I had no idea you could get those. Learn something new every day is my motto. I certainly do that here at SP. :-)

Exercise

Monday, January 03, 2011

I came home today to all the snow still on the ground, but it is not packing own and it a little icy, so I am not risking going walking today! So I did some strength training with my dumbells, I did an upper body work out and I feel great! I can feel it in my shoulders YAY!
Hope that everyone is working towards their 2011 goals! I am doing this with the support of y'all, thanks to all my friends!

They are more than just walking. She gets you moving and using all your muscles as you go through the workouts. Great fun, and a great workout in my opinion. :-)

    It sounds like you are doing well with the strength exercises. Have you tried the walking in place briskly to get walking exercise indoors when outside the weather is not good?

I changed my strength exercise today. It sounds like it will be a good challenge for me when I do it in a few minutes! I did lots of walking today already.
